Audio T Verdict
The Rega Planar 8/10/Naia Wall Bracket is a purpose-built support for Rega's lightweight skeletal turntables.
Mounting a turntable to a structurally suitable wall separates it from the furniture and floor beneath it, helping reduce the influence of footfall, springy floorboards and vibration from nearby loudspeakers.
Its ultra-lightweight folded aluminium construction follows the same low-mass and high-rigidity principles used throughout the Planar 8, Planar 10 and Naia.
This is the correct Rega wall bracket for the current Planar 8, Planar 10 and Naia. It is not suitable for the older RP8 or RP10, or for conventional full-width Rega turntables such as the Planar 1, Planar 2, Planar 3 and Planar 6.
Rega Planar 8/10/Naia Wall Bracket
The Rega Planar 8/10/Naia Wall Bracket is a dedicated wall-mounted support designed specifically for Rega's current skeletal turntables.
Manufactured from laser-cut and folded 2 mm aluminium, it provides a rigid platform while adding very little mass.
The bracket is available in black or white and includes adjustment to help the installer achieve a level support where a wall is not perfectly even.
By mounting the turntable independently from the floor and equipment furniture, the bracket can provide a more stable environment for the cartridge, tonearm, platter and main bearing.
Compatible Rega Turntables
This bracket is designed for the following current Rega skeletal turntables:
Rega Planar 8
The
Rega Planar 8
uses an ultra-lightweight Tancast 8 skeletal plinth and three-point support arrangement.
The dedicated bracket is shaped to support the turntable securely without requiring a larger conventional wall shelf.
Rega Planar 10
The
Rega Planar 10
combines a skeletal foam-core plinth with the RB3000 tonearm and ceramic platter.
A stable wall-mounted support helps preserve the low-mass design principles used throughout the turntable.
Rega Naia
The
Rega Naia
is Rega's reference production turntable and is also compatible with this dedicated bracket.
Careful positioning and secure installation are particularly important when supporting a turntable and cartridge of this level.
Not Suitable for the Rega RP8 or RP10
The current Planar 8 and Planar 10 are substantially different from the earlier RP8 and RP10 models.
This dedicated bracket is not suitable for the RP8 or RP10. Contact Audio T before ordering if you are unsure which generation of turntable you own.
Different from the Standard Rega Wall Bracket
Rega produces two different wall-bracket designs for its turntables.
Planar 8/10/Naia Wall Bracket
- Designed for skeletal Rega turntables
- Compatible with Planar 8
- Compatible with Planar 10
- Compatible with Naia
- Not suitable for RP8 or RP10
- 2 mm folded aluminium construction
Standard Rega Wall Bracket
The
Rega Planar Turntable Wall Bracket
is the larger alternative for the Planar 1, Planar 2, Planar 3, Planar 6 and many older Rega models.
It is not the correct bracket for the current Planar 8, Planar 10 or Naia.
Why Wall-Mount a Turntable?
A turntable cartridge works by detecting extremely small movements as its stylus follows the record groove.
Unfortunately, it can also respond to unwanted movement reaching the turntable through the floor, furniture or surrounding air.
Common sources of disturbance include:
- Footfall on suspended wooden floors
- Furniture movement
- Vibration from loudspeakers and subwoofers
- Doors closing nearby
- Children or pets moving around the room
- Equipment racks positioned on uneven or flexible flooring
Fixing the support to a suitable wall gives the turntable a separate structural reference from the floor and equipment rack.
This can be particularly useful in rooms with suspended floors or where the turntable skips when somebody walks nearby.
Reducing Acoustic Feedback
Low-frequency energy from loudspeakers and subwoofers can travel through the floor and furniture before reaching the turntable.
In more severe cases, the cartridge may pick up this vibration and send it back through the system, creating a feedback loop.
Wall mounting can help reduce one of the principal routes by which this vibration reaches the turntable.
It is not a guaranteed cure for every feedback problem. Loudspeaker positioning, subwoofer level, turntable placement and the structure of the wall can also influence the final result.
Ultra-Lightweight Aluminium Construction
The bracket is manufactured from 2 mm laser-cut and folded aluminium.
Rather than using a large and heavy platform, Rega creates rigidity through the shape and folded structure of the metal.
This follows the company's wider approach of avoiding unnecessary mass while maintaining stiffness in structurally important areas.
- Laser-cut aluminium construction
- Folded structure for additional rigidity
- Only 2 mm material thickness
- Approximately 0.7 kg bracket weight
- Purpose-built for Rega skeletal turntables
Adjustable for Uneven Walls
The bracket includes adjustment to help establish a level support where the wall surface is not completely even.
This adjustment is intended for fine levelling after the main bracket has been fixed securely.
It does not compensate for unsuitable fixings, a weak wall or an incorrectly positioned mounting point.
The turntable should not be placed on the bracket until the installer has confirmed that the support is secure, level and stable.
Choosing the Installation Position
The bracket should be installed where the turntable can be operated comfortably without stretching, leaning over furniture or placing pressure on the tonearm.
Before drilling, consider:
- The structural suitability of the wall
- The finished height of the platter and tonearm
- Space above the turntable for record changes
- Clearance for the removable dustcover
- The length of the tonearm cable
- The position of the phono stage or amplifier
- The external turntable power-supply cable
- Nearby electrical sockets
- Heat, direct sunlight and moisture
The tonearm lead and power-supply cable should reach their destination without being pulled tight or placing strain on the turntable connections.
Wall Construction and Fixings
Secure Installation Is Essential
The bracket must be attached to a structurally suitable wall using fixings selected for the wall construction and the combined load of the bracket and turntable.
Plasterboard alone should not be assumed to provide adequate support. On a stud wall, the installer may need to locate suitable structural timber or provide appropriate reinforcement.
Concealed electrical cables, water pipes and other services must also be checked before drilling.
Installation should be carried out by a competent person who can assess the wall and select the correct fixing method.
Black or White Finish
Black
The black finish provides a discreet match for darker equipment racks, turntable finishes and room furnishings.
White
The white finish can blend more naturally with pale walls and provides a suitable visual partner for a white Planar 8 or Planar 10.
Finish choice does not affect compatibility or performance.
Turntable Power Supply Positioning
The external power supply supplied with the Planar 8, Planar 10 or Naia does not need to sit on the wall bracket.
It can be positioned on a suitable equipment rack or shelf, provided the connecting cable reaches the turntable without tension.
Keeping the power supply away from the cartridge and tonearm cable can also help minimise the possibility of unwanted electrical noise.
Before Placing the Turntable on the Bracket
- Confirm that the correct bracket has been selected for the turntable.
- Check that the wall is structurally suitable.
- Install the bracket using appropriate fixings.
- Confirm that all fixings are secure.
- Use the bracket adjustment to establish a level support.
- Check that the bracket does not move when light pressure is applied.
- Plan the tonearm and power-supply cable routes.
- Place the turntable carefully onto its intended support points.
- Check that all turntable feet are sitting securely.
- Reconnect the power supply and phono cable without pulling them tight.
The turntable should be lifted rather than slid across the bracket to avoid damaging its feet or finish.
