DALI RUBIKORE 6 SPKRS HIGH GLOSS BLK

Audio T Verdict

The DALI RUBIKORE 6 are slim floorstanding speakers designed to combine room-filling scale with the speed, clarity and control required by an ambitious stereo system.

Twin 6½-inch Clarity Cone paper and wood-fibre drivers use DALIs Soft Magnetic Composite motor technology. Both drivers contribute to the bass, while the upper unit continues through the midrange to provide focused vocals and instruments.

High frequencies are handled by DALIs Hybrid Tweeter module, combining a ferrofluid-free 29mm soft dome with a 17 × 45mm planar element. The result is an open, detailed presentation with broad horizontal dispersion.

Rear Continuous-Flare bass-reflex ports help the compact floorstanding cabinet reach a specified 38Hz. Bass is powerful but controlled, making the RUBIKORE 6 suitable for most medium and larger UK living rooms.

Handcrafted, assembled and tested in Denmark, the RUBIKORE 6 bring technologies inspired by DALIs flagship KORE loudspeaker into a more accessible and domestically manageable design.

DALI RUBIKORE 6 Floorstanding Speakers

The DALI RUBIKORE 6 are premium passive floorstanding speakers for high-quality stereo and home cinema systems.

Each cabinet contains two 6½-inch Clarity Cone SMC drivers, a 29mm soft-dome tweeter, a 17 × 45mm planar tweeter and rear Continuous-Flare bass-reflex ports.

The speakers are supplied as a stereo pair and require a suitable external amplifier.

A Separate Amplifier Is Required

The RUBIKORE 6 are passive loudspeakers and cannot play music directly from a television, phone, turntable, streamer or computer.

  • No built-in amplification
  • No Bluetooth or Wi-Fi
  • No network streaming services
  • No HDMI or digital audio inputs
  • No built-in phono stage

DALI recommends amplifier power between 40W and 200W. The amplifier should also be suitable for the speakers 4-ohm nominal impedance.

2½ + ½-Way Floorstanding Design

The RUBIKORE 6 use a 2½ + ½-way crossover arrangement with crossover points at 800Hz, 2,600Hz and 14,000Hz.

Both 6½-inch drivers contribute to the low frequencies, increasing bass output and dynamic scale. The lower driver gradually rolls away through the lower midrange, leaving the upper driver to reproduce the main vocal and instrumental region.

The 29mm soft dome takes over at 2,600Hz, while the planar element joins at the highest frequencies to increase extension and horizontal dispersion.

Twin Clarity Cone SMC Drivers

Each speaker uses two 6½-inch paper and wood-fibre drivers featuring DALIs Clarity Cone profile.

The cone geometry is designed to control unwanted resonances while retaining the low mass, rigidity and natural damping associated with DALIs wood-fibre diaphragm material.

The twin-driver arrangement gives the RUBIKORE 6 greater bass authority and maximum output than the standmount RUBIKORE 2.

Soft Magnetic Composite Technology

DALIs Soft Magnetic Composite material is used within the driver motors to reduce eddy currents, magnetic hysteresis and variations in voice-coil behaviour.

Reducing these unwanted effects helps the drivers follow the amplifier signal more accurately, contributing to a clean midrange, controlled bass and low distortion.

The driver technology takes inspiration from engineering developed for DALIs flagship KORE loudspeaker.

DALI Hybrid Tweeter Module

The RUBIKORE 6 use DALIs Hybrid Tweeter module, combining a 29mm soft-dome tweeter with a 17 × 45mm planar element.

The soft dome provides the main high-frequency output and integrates with the upper Clarity Cone driver at 2,600Hz.

The planar element joins at 14,000Hz, extending the response to 34kHz while helping maintain broad horizontal dispersion.

Ferrofluid-Free 29mm Soft Dome

The lightweight soft-dome tweeter uses a low-loss, ferrofluid-free construction designed to improve responsiveness and preserve fine musical detail.

Its relatively large 29mm diaphragm allows it to operate comfortably towards the midrange crossover while retaining useful power handling.

17 × 45mm Planar Tweeter

The planar element uses an extremely lightweight diaphragm to reproduce the highest frequencies.

Its broad horizontal radiation helps distribute treble detail across a wider listening area, while its more controlled vertical dispersion reduces unnecessary interaction with the floor and ceiling.

SMC-KORE Crossover Inductors

The crossover uses DALIs SMC-KORE inductors, developed to reduce distortion and electrical losses within the filter network.

They work alongside carefully selected crossover components to divide the signal between the twin drivers and Hybrid Tweeter module.

Continuous-Flare Bass-Reflex Ports

The rear Continuous-Flare ports change shape gradually along their length rather than relying on abrupt transitions.

This encourages smoother airflow and helps reduce turbulence, compression and audible port noise at higher listening levels.

The reflex system is tuned to 34Hz and contributes to the RUBIKORE 6s specified 38Hz lower frequency limit.

Rigid Danish-Made Cabinet

The internally braced cabinet provides a stable platform for the drivers, crossover and bass-reflex system.

Reducing cabinet vibration helps prevent the enclosure from adding unwanted colouration or softening bass definition.

Each RUBIKORE 6 is individually handcrafted, assembled and tested at DALIs production facilities in Denmark.

Wide Dispersion Sound Principle

The drivers and Hybrid Tweeter module are designed to provide a broad and even radiation pattern.

This allows several listeners to hear a balanced presentation and helps reflected sound within the room retain a natural tonal character.

Begin with the Speakers Facing Straight Ahead

DALI recommends placing the speakers broadly parallel with the wall behind them rather than aiming them sharply towards the listening position.

Small adjustments can still be tried to suit the room, speaker spacing and preferred stereo presentation.

Room Placement

DALI recommends positioning the RUBIKORE 6 between 20cm and 180cm from the rear wall.

Moving the speakers closer to the wall will generally increase perceived bass, while bringing them further into the room can improve definition and soundstage depth.

The rear ports must remain clear of curtains, furniture and other obstructions.

Premium Floor Spikes

DALIs Premium Spike Set is supplied to provide a stable connection with suitable carpeted floors.

Spikes can damage wood, laminate, tile and other hard surfaces, so suitable protective floor cups should be used where required.

Protect Hard Flooring

Do not place exposed spikes directly onto delicate flooring. Make sure that both speakers remain level and stable after final positioning.

Bi-Wire and Bi-Amplifier Connections

Separate terminal pairs are provided for the bass and high-frequency sections.

For conventional single-wire operation, the supplied links remain fitted. Bi-wiring uses separate cable runs from the same amplifier channel, while passive bi-amplification uses separate compatible amplifier channels.

Remove the Terminal Links Before Bi-Amplifying

The links must be removed before separate amplifier channels are connected. Leaving them fitted could connect the amplifier outputs together and cause equipment damage.

Amplifier Matching

The RUBIKORE 6 have a sensitivity of 88.5dB and a nominal impedance of 4 ohms.

Although their sensitivity is useful, they benefit from an amplifier with dependable current delivery and sufficient clean headroom.

A well-matched amplifier will help maintain bass control, dynamic freedom and composure as the listening level increases.
