The Innuos STREAM Remote brings simple, tactile control to the STREAM1 and STREAM3 without requiring a phone or tablet for every playback adjustment.
It provides direct access to the functions most frequently used during a listening session, including power, play and pause, previous and next track, digital volume adjustment and the Innuos Play Anything feature.
Ten numbered preset buttons are particularly useful. Playlists, Smart Mixes and internet radio stations can be assigned to these positions through the Innuos Sense app, allowing favourite music to begin with one press of the remote.
The preset content is configured within Sense rather than programmed using the remote itself. Once assigned, however, the remote provides a quick way to begin listening without navigating the complete music library.
The volume buttons control the digital volume setting within Sense. They do not transmit commands directly to a separate amplifier. This can be convenient with compatible DAC modules, active speakers or systems using the STREAM product’s variable digital output.
Where an integrated amplifier or pre-amplifier provides the main analogue volume control, leaving Sense at 100% will normally preserve the greatest digital resolution. Native DSD must also remain at full digital level unless it is converted to PCM before attenuation.
Communication uses infrared rather than Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. This keeps battery consumption low and avoids network pairing, but means the front of the STREAM1 or STREAM3 should remain reasonably visible from the listening position.
The remote uses two standard AAA batteries, which are not included. There is no charging cable or rechargeable battery to maintain.
Compatibility is limited to the current STREAM Series. It cannot control older ZEN Mk3, PULSE, PULSEmini, PULSAR or Phoenix products because those models do not contain the required infrared receiver.
The remote is supplied as standard with the STREAM3 and is therefore principally intended as an optional upgrade for STREAM1 owners or as a replacement for a lost or damaged STREAM3 remote.
Innuos STREAM Remote Control
The Innuos STREAM Remote is a dedicated infrared handset developed exclusively for the Innuos STREAM1 and STREAM3 music streamers and servers.
It provides immediate control of everyday playback functions while working alongside the more comprehensive Innuos Sense app.
The remote does not replace Sense completely. A phone, tablet or web browser remains necessary for detailed browsing, system settings, streaming-service sign-in, library management and assigning the numbered presets.

Optional Accessory for STREAM1
The STREAM Remote is available separately as an optional accessory for the Innuos STREAM1.
Without the remote, STREAM1 owners can control the system through the Innuos Sense app or a compatible web browser.
Adding the remote allows the listener to control everyday playback without picking up a phone or opening the Sense interface.

Infrared Operation
The handset communicates with the STREAM1 or STREAM3 through infrared light.
Infrared operation offers several practical benefits:

The remote should be pointed generally towards the front of the STREAM product during use.
Line of Sight
Infrared normally requires a reasonably clear path between the handset and receiver.
The remote may work through certain thin or infrared-transparent cabinet materials, but operation cannot be guaranteed through solid doors, dense tinted glass or enclosed equipment racks.
Where the STREAM product is hidden inside a cabinet, test remote operation before finalising the installation.
Remote Range and Room Layout
Innuos does not publish a guaranteed operating distance.
Performance will depend on battery condition, aiming angle, room lighting and whether anything obstructs the front receiver.
Power Control
The power button provides remote control of the compatible STREAM product’s normal operating and standby functions.
This avoids walking over to the equipment rack whenever the streamer needs to be started or placed into standby.
The remote does not operate the rear mains switch, disconnect the product electrically or control the power state of a separate amplifier.
Play and Pause
The central playback control can start or pause the current music queue.
Playback will resume from the current position where supported by the source and service.
Behaviour can vary slightly between local files, internet radio and third-party Connect services.
Previous and Next Track
Dedicated previous and next buttons allow the listener to move through the active album, playlist, Smart Mix or playback queue.
When listening to internet radio, these controls may not perform the same function because a live station does not contain a conventional track queue.
Ten Numbered Presets
The remote provides ten numbered preset positions.
Each number can be assigned to suitable content within the Innuos Sense app, allowing favourite music to begin without browsing through several screens.
Possible assignments include:

- A Radio Paradise channel

The exact content available for assignment can change as Sense is developed.
Assigning a Preset in Sense
- Open the Innuos Sense app.
- Find the playlist, Smart Mix or radio station you want to assign.
- Open its available options.
- Select the Preset function.
- Choose the required numbered position.
- Confirm the assignment.
- Test the matching button on the STREAM Remote.
The remote recalls a preset but does not create or edit the assignment itself.
Changing a Preset
Preset assignments can be changed within Sense whenever required.
Assigning new content to an occupied number will replace the previous selection.
It may be useful to keep a simple written list of preset numbers until their positions become familiar.
Useful Preset Arrangement
Frequently used radio stations can be grouped together, while the remaining buttons can be assigned to playlists or Smart Mixes.
For example, presets 1 to 4 might contain radio stations and presets 5 to 10 might contain favourite playlists.
Play Anything Shortcut
The Play Anything button provides quick access to the matching Innuos Sense feature.
Play Anything selects music from the integrated Sense library, allowing listening to begin without choosing a specific album or playlist first.
The available selection will depend on the music integrated into Sense, which may include local files and compatible streaming-service favourites.
Digital Volume Control
The volume buttons adjust the digital volume control within Innuos Sense.
They do not directly control the analogue volume circuit inside a separate integrated amplifier or pre-amplifier.
Digital volume may be useful when:
- A STREAM product feeds compatible active loudspeakers
- An internal DAC module connects directly to a suitable power amplifier
- An external DAC accepts variable digital input levels
- The wider system has been deliberately configured around Sense volume
The complete system must provide a safe way to limit playback level before a variable digital output is connected directly to a power amplifier or active speaker.
Reduce the Volume Before Direct Connection
When using the STREAM product directly with a power amplifier or active loudspeakers, confirm that digital volume is enabled and reduced before playback begins.
An output accidentally set to 100% may produce an extremely high listening level.
Fixed 100% Output
Where an integrated amplifier, pre-amplifier or DAC provides the main analogue volume control, Sense will normally be left at 100%.
This avoids digital attenuation and allows the downstream component to control the listening level.
In this arrangement, the remote’s volume buttons may be unnecessary and should not be mistaken for direct amplifier control.
Native DSD and Volume
Native DSD cannot be attenuated through an ordinary digital volume process while remaining native DSD.
To change its level digitally, the music would need to be converted or transcoded to PCM.
Customers wishing to retain native DSD playback should leave the STREAM output at 100% and control volume through a suitable downstream analogue component.
Not an Amplifier Remote
The STREAM Remote does not normally send manufacturer-specific commands to a Marantz, Cyrus, Naim, Rega or other separate amplifier.
It controls functions within the compatible Innuos STREAM product.
Separate amplifier volume, source selection, muting and standby will still require the amplifier’s own handset or control system unless the complete installation has been configured differently.
Remote and Sense Working Together
The STREAM Remote and Sense app are complementary rather than competing control methods.
The remote is ideal for:
- Starting playback from a preset
- Pausing and resuming music
- Skipping tracks
- Using Play Anything
- Adjusting Sense digital volume
- Placing the STREAM product into standby

Two AAA Batteries
The handset operates from two standard AAA batteries.
AAA batteries are widely available and can be replaced without a charging cable or specialist battery pack.
Batteries are not included with the Audio T product, so a suitable pair should be available during setup.
Battery Installation
- Remove or rotate the battery cover according to the markings on the handset.
- Insert two AAA batteries.
- Follow the positive and negative polarity markings inside the compartment.
- Refit and secure the battery cover.
- Point the remote towards the STREAM product and test a playback or power command.
Incorrect battery polarity will prevent operation and could cause battery leakage.
Do Not Mix Batteries
Use two matching new batteries of the same type and brand.
Do not mix old and new batteries, rechargeable and disposable batteries, or different battery chemistries.
Battery Maintenance
Replace both batteries when remote range or response begins to deteriorate.
Remove the batteries where the handset will remain unused for an extended period.
Dispose of depleted batteries through an appropriate battery-recycling facility rather than placing them in ordinary household waste.
No USB Charging
The STREAM Remote is not charged through USB.
Its infrared communication requires relatively little energy, allowing conventional AAA batteries to provide a long practical operating life.
No charging cable or mains adapter is required.
No Pairing Procedure
Because the remote uses infrared, it does not need to be paired to the STREAM product through Bluetooth or the network.
Once suitable batteries are fitted, it should operate a compatible STREAM1 or STREAM3 directly.
The numbered presets still need to be assigned through Sense before they recall the intended content.
Using More Than One STREAM Product
Because compatible STREAM products use the same infrared command system, a remote may affect more than one unit where both are within its operating path.

Troubleshooting
The Remote Does Not Respond
- Confirm that the product is a STREAM1 or STREAM3.
- Check that two AAA batteries are installed.

Native DSD Volume Does Not Change
Native DSD cannot be attenuated digitally without conversion to PCM.
Use a downstream analogue volume control or allow Sense to convert the signal where that compromise is acceptable.
