Audio T Verdict
The DALI SONIK ON-WALL speakers deliver spacious, detailed sound from slim cabinets that take up no floor or shelf space.
Each speaker combines a 5¼-inch Clarity Cone paper and wood-fibre driver with DALI's SMC Essential magnet system, helping voices and instruments sound clean, natural and well controlled.
A 29mm low-loss soft-dome tweeter provides clear high frequencies and wide dispersion, making the speakers suitable for both focused stereo listening and multiseat home cinema systems.
The wall-assisted bass-reflex design uses the nearby wall surface to extend the low-frequency performance, helping the shallow cabinet produce a fuller sound than its dimensions might suggest.
For discreet stereo, television sound or surround channels, the SONIK ON-WALL offer an excellent combination of placement flexibility, modern styling and convincing room-filling performance.
DALI SONIK ON-WALL Speakers
The DALI SONIK ON-WALL are slim passive speakers designed specifically for direct wall mounting.
They can be used as a discreet stereo pair, front or surround speakers within a home cinema, or as part of a multiroom audio system.
The speakers are supplied as a pair and can be mounted vertically, horizontally or upside down to suit the room and system layout.
A Separate Amplifier Is Required
The SONIK ON-WALL are passive loudspeakers and must be connected to a suitable stereo amplifier, streaming amplifier or AV receiver.
- No built-in amplification
- No Bluetooth or Wi-Fi
- No network streaming services
- No HDMI or digital audio inputs
- No built-in volume control
DALI recommends amplifier power between 25W and 100W.
Slim, Flexible Wall-Mounted Design
At just 123mm deep, the SONIK ON-WALL fit more discreetly into a room than conventional bookshelf speakers and stands.
Integrated mounting points support portrait or landscape installation, while the front-grille logo can be rotated to match the chosen orientation.
The speakers may also be mounted upside down where this provides better tweeter height or cable routing.
5¼-Inch Clarity Cone Driver
The bass and midrange driver uses DALI's Clarity Cone paper and wood-fibre diaphragm.
Its KORE-inspired profile is designed to combine low mass with improved rigidity and resonance control, supporting a natural handover to the tweeter at 2,400Hz.
This helps dialogue, voices and instruments remain clear without making the presentation sound thin or clinical.
SMC Essential Magnet System
DALI's Soft Magnetic Composite material is used within the driver's hybrid iron and SMC pole piece.
Positioning SMC within the voice coil's working area helps reduce magnetic hysteresis and eddy currents that can contribute to distortion.
The result is cleaner driver movement and a more relaxed, detailed midrange.
29mm Soft-Dome Tweeter
A generously sized 29mm soft-dome tweeter handles the high frequencies.
Its lightweight woven diaphragm offers a broad operating range and helps create a smooth transition from the Clarity Cone driver.
DALI's Wide Dispersion Sound Principle allows several listeners to hear a balanced presentation without everyone occupying one precise central position.
Wall-Assisted Bass-Reflex Design
A rear-facing reflex system directs airflow towards the nearby wall and out along the cabinet edge.
The wall surface forms part of the acoustic loading, helping the shallow speaker achieve useful bass extension without requiring a conventional deep cabinet.
The reflex system is tuned to 50Hz, with an overall specified response extending down to 55Hz.
Leave Space Beneath the Speaker
DALI recommends at least 10cm of clear space between the speaker and any surface immediately beneath it.
This prevents furniture, shelves or other objects from obstructing the reflex outlet.
Wall Mounting and Positioning
For stereo listening, the tweeters should ideally be positioned close to seated ear height and the speakers placed symmetrically around the listening area.
DALI specifies a rear-wall distance between 0cm and 10cm because the speaker is designed to work with the wall immediately behind it.
The supplied rubber pads help maintain the intended spacing and reduce direct contact between the cabinet and wall.
Use Suitable Wall Fixings
Wall screws and plugs must be chosen for the construction of the wall and must safely support each 4.9kg speaker.
Check for concealed electrical cables, pipes and other services before drilling. Professional installation is recommended where there is any uncertainty.
Stereo and Home Cinema Use
A pair of SONIK ON-WALL speakers can form a discreet stereo system where stands or conventional cabinets are unwanted.
Within a home cinema, they are particularly well suited to side and rear surround duties, although they may also be used as front speakers in a space-conscious system.
An active subwoofer can provide deeper bass for film soundtracks and larger rooms while allowing the SONIK ON-WALL speakers to operate with greater headroom.
Amplifier Matching
The SONIK ON-WALL have a sensitivity of 87dB and a nominal impedance of 6 ohms.
They are compatible with many modern stereo and home cinema amplifiers, although amplifier quality and clean power delivery remain more important than wattage alone.
For multichannel systems, remember that an AV receiver may deliver less power when several channels are operating simultaneously.
SONIK ON-WALL or SONIK 1?
Choose the SONIK 1 When
- Stand or shelf placement is preferred

Choose the SONIK ON-WALL When
- A purpose-designed wall speaker is required
- Floor and shelf space are limited
