Wharfedale Diamond 12.4 I Speakers

DIAMOND 12.4i

Since its launch in 2020, the Wharfedale Diamond 12 series has received widespread praise as a standard for performance and value in affordable hi fi speakers. After more than five years of consistent success, awards and positive reviews from listeners and critics, the Diamond 12 series has become one of the most enduring and best selling ranges.

Wharfedale now introduces the updated Diamond 12i series. This new series offers luxurious, modern finishes and subtle acoustic improvements that build on the strong foundation of the original design.

The Diamond 12 series raised the bar in its class for sound quality, design and musical involvement. The in house team has now refined and improved the concept rather than reinventing it, adding three finishes that sit comfortably in modern interiors.

All black: A deep semi matte finish for a sleek, subtle and contemporary look.

Classic walnut with semi matte black baffle: A timeless combination blending the warmth of walnut with a clean contrasting baffle for a premium appearance.

Stone grey: A striking modern option that suits minimalist spaces and stands out visually.

Known for quality, affordability and solid construction, the Diamond series has always prioritised fit and finish. The new luxurious finishes enhance the premium look and feel to match the loudspeaker performance.

Alongside the visual updates, the engineering team revisited the internals with particular focus on bass port tuning and airflow control. Subtle but important changes to the port and damping have improved bass clarity and low frequency control, especially in real rooms. Listeners will hear the difference.

A thorough port design programme led by Director of Acoustic Design Peter Comeau with senior engineers Dan Bailey Ornellas and Oliver Davies refined the low frequency performance through extended measurement and listening. The process included laser interferometry, anechoic and in room measurements and computational fluid dynamics to study airflow and pressure in the port structure. Hundreds of hours of listening confirmed the results.

The outcome is bass that is more controlled and articulate, with better transition between low and mid frequencies and consistent spatial performance across a range of placements. The Diamond 12 neutral balance remains, but engagement and dynamic flow are subtly enhanced.

The Diamond 12i series is designed to impress. The changes may appear modest on paper, but the impact is considerable. It looks, feels and performs like something new while retaining the core qualities that made the original Diamond 12 so successful.
