For decades, they’ve worked behind the scenes to reduce waste, rework damaged parts, and avoid sending anything to landfill unnecessarily. But what happens when a component has a cosmetic blemish that doesn’t affect its performance, yet isn’t suitable for a full 'A' grade product?
Introducing the Rega Green Grade initiative, a forward-thinking approach inspired by changing attitudes to waste. Much like “wonky fruit”, Green Grade products embrace minor visual imperfections to reduce landfill and make the best use of valuable materials. Every Green Grade model is fully functional, tested to the same rigorous standards as standard production units, and comes with Rega’s Limited Lifetime Warranty against manufacturing defects.
The Planar 3 RS Edition has been an enormous success since launch; over that time, Rega have gathered a number of minor reject plinths. Therefore, Rega have decided to use 'B' grade RS plinths to create this Eco / Green Grade spec product at an exceptional price.
The Planar 3 ECO Special – May 2025 Limited Run
Rega's latest Green Grade release is the Planar 3 ECO Special, available in limited numbers. Built using the aluminium skin plinth from the PL3 RS model (with slight cosmetic imperfections), this deck delivers the same outstanding performance the Planar 3 is known for, while helping reduce environmental impact.

- Aluminium skin plinth – with minor visual imperfections, no P3 silk-screening for clear identification

Each turntable is assembled with a mix of Green Grade components where available (such as platters, tonearms or covers), rigorously tested to ensure no compromise in performance. Please note that while functional defects are fully covered under Rega’s Limited Lifetime Warranty, cosmetic issues are not.
