Three Equipment Shelves
The Collection 3 provides three supporting surfaces within a compact footprint.
The two lower surfaces sit beneath a 170mm Shelf module, while the upper shelf remains open above. This makes the top shelf particularly useful for a turntable or another component requiring unrestricted ventilation or lid clearance.
The arrangement can accommodate:
- Turntable, streamer and integrated amplifier
- CD player, amplifier and network player

Two 170mm Equipment Spaces
Each of the two additional Shelf 170 modules provides 170mm of usable vertical clearance beneath its shelf.
This is suitable for many conventional Hi-Fi separates, but the available clearance must include space for ventilation, controls and safe handling.
Measure the equipment before ordering and check the manufacturer’s installation guidance, particularly for amplifiers and other products that become warm during use.
Allow an Air Gap
A component measuring close to 170mm high should not be placed within a 170mm space.
Allow sufficient room above and around the equipment for heat to escape. A separate 220mm module may be more appropriate for a tall or warm-running amplifier.
40kg Capacity Per Shelf
Each of the three shelves can support equipment weighing up to 40kg.
This makes the Collection 3 suitable for many substantial integrated amplifiers, power amplifiers, turntables and other heavy components.
The load limit applies individually to each shelf. Equipment feet must remain securely supported within the usable shelf area, and the rack should not be moved while loaded.
Choice of Tempered Glass or Plywood
Stax 2G is available with two different shelf constructions.
The Black Glass version uses 10mm tempered-glass shelves, providing a rigid supporting surface with a contemporary reflective finish.
The two wood finishes use 13mm plywood shelves with real ash veneer. Their layered construction combines strength and rigidity with a warmer furniture-style appearance.
Three Coordinated Finishes
The Collection 3 is available in:

- Black Ash Plywood shelves with Natural Walnut supports
- Natural Ash Plywood shelves with Satin White supports
Each version uses the same modular format and 40kg-per-shelf load capacity, although the external height and overall rack weight vary slightly according to the shelf material.
Integrated Silicone Isolation
Silicone isolation pads are positioned between the shelves and support sections and at the base of the supports.
Blok specifies their hardness for the Stax 2G system, helping reduce the transmission of unwanted vibration through the completed structure.
The isolation components are concealed after assembly, preserving the rack’s clean appearance.
Mass-Fillable Support Sections
The hollow support sections can be filled with a suitable dry, acoustically inert material to increase their mass and provide additional resonance control.
Concealed rubber bungs provide access to the cavities:
- Each Base Shelf support has an approximate internal capacity of 0.7 litres
- Each Shelf 170 support has an approximate internal capacity of 2.2 litres
Mass filling is optional. The Collection 3 can be assembled and used without adding any filling material.
Use a Suitable Dry Material
Use a clean, dry and stable filling product intended for speaker stands or audio furniture.
Do not use liquids, wet sand, expanding foam or building materials that could retain moisture, damage the supports or prevent future disassembly.
Adjustable Base Feet
Four independently adjustable floor feet allow the rack to be levelled after it has been assembled and moved into its final position.
The supplied adjustment tool fits around each foot mechanism, allowing its height to be changed without repeatedly lifting the rack.
Accurate levelling is particularly important for turntables and other equipment containing sensitive moving mechanisms.
Spikes for Suitable Carpeted Floors
The base foot assemblies incorporate spikes for use on suitable carpeted surfaces.
The published spike height is approximately 22mm. Each spike should pass through the carpet and make firm contact with the supporting floor beneath.
Check for vulnerable flooring, hidden pipes or underfloor cables before applying concentrated pressure.
Rubber Feet for Hard Floors
Integrated rubber feet provide an alternative for timber, laminate, tile and other hard flooring.
The published hard-floor foot height is approximately 14mm.
Clean both the floor and rubber contact surfaces before installation so that trapped grit cannot mark a delicate finish.
Rear Cable Management
The rear of each shelf has a smoothly shaped cut-out that creates additional space for mains leads, interconnects and larger plugs.
This helps the rack sit closer to a wall while reducing sharp bends and strain at the rear of connected equipment.
Keep mains and signal cables arranged neatly, avoid crushing them between the rack and wall and leave enough slack to move equipment safely when required.
Usable Shelf Area
All three versions provide approximately 480mm of usable shelf width.
Usable depth to the beginning of the rear cable cut-out is:
- Approximately 387mm with Black Glass shelves
- Approximately 379mm with plywood shelves
A component’s casework may extend towards the cable cut-out, but all of its supporting feet must remain securely positioned on the shelf.
Suitable for Standard-Width Hi-Fi
The 602mm overall width provides enough space for most conventional 430mm to 450mm-wide Hi-Fi separates.
Always check:

Equipment Placement
Place heavier components towards the lower levels wherever practical, helping maintain a low centre of gravity.
A typical arrangement might place a power amplifier or heavy integrated amplifier on the base, a digital source on the middle shelf and a turntable on top.
The best arrangement also depends on ventilation, cable lengths, control access and the possibility of electrical or mechanical interaction between components.
Using a Turntable
The open upper shelf is the natural position for a turntable.
Check that the turntable’s complete footprint fits safely within the usable shelf area and that there is enough room above and behind it to raise the lid.
Level the rack carefully after installation and check it again once the equipment has been added.
In rooms with flexible suspended floors and significant footfall vibration, a dedicated wall shelf may still provide the more suitable turntable support.
Using an Amplifier
An amplifier can be installed on any shelf that provides sufficient space, load capacity and ventilation.
The base is often the most practical position for a heavy power amplifier or integrated amplifier, while the open top may suit equipment that requires unrestricted airflow.
Do not position a warm-running component in a 170mm space unless its manufacturer confirms that the available clearance is sufficient.
Modular Expansion
The concealed modular connections allow additional Stax 2G levels to be added as the system develops.
Available modules include:
- Shelf 120 with 120mm usable clearance
- Shelf 170 with 170mm usable clearance
- Shelf 220 with 220mm usable clearance

The order of the shelves can be planned around the dimensions of the connected equipment.
Maximum Recommended Height
Blok recommends that a completed custom Stax 2G rack should not exceed 1100mm in overall height.
Take the rack’s stability, equipment weight and room location into account before adding further modules.
Place heavy equipment low in the structure and avoid locations where children, pets or passing traffic could knock the rack.
Concealed Fixings
Each shelf is attached using concealed M10 fixings tightened with Blok’s bespoke magnetic assembly tool.
The fixings and isolation points are hidden after assembly, maintaining the uncluttered modernist design.
Finishing caps cover the unused upper connections on the completed rack.
Self-Assembly
The Collection 3 is supplied flat-packed for self-assembly.
Build it on a clean, protected and level surface, following the supplied Quick Start Guide. Check that each fixing is correctly aligned before tightening it.
Once fully assembled, move the empty rack into position, select the correct floor fittings and level it before adding equipment.
Move It Empty
Remove all equipment and disconnect the cables before relocating the rack.
Do not drag a loaded Stax 2G across the floor or attempt to lift a fully assembled system by one shelf.
