The Blok Stax 2G Base Shelf is the starting point for every custom-built Stax 2G equipment rack.
It can be used on its own as a low equipment platform or combined with additional 120mm, 170mm, 220mm and LP shelf modules to create a rack tailored to the dimensions of your equipment.
The modular construction allows further levels to be added later, helping the rack adapt when new sources, amplification or accessories become part of the system.
This Is the Base Level
The product includes one equipment shelf, four support sections and adjustable floor feet.
Additional upper shelf modules are not included and must be selected separately when building a multi-level rack.

Unlike general domestic furniture, Stax 2G has been developed specifically to support audio equipment.

Tempered Black Glass Shelf
The Black Glass and High Gloss Black version uses a 10mm tempered-glass equipment shelf.
Tempered glass provides a rigid, stable supporting surface with a smooth finish that is easy to clean.
The complete glass base weighs approximately 7.9kg and measures 107mm high with its supplied accessories fitted.
The usable supporting area is approximately 480mm wide and 387mm deep to the beginning of the rear cable cut-out.
Ash Plywood Shelves
The two wood-finished versions use a 13mm plywood shelf with a real ash veneer.
Plywood combines several bonded layers with different grain directions, creating a strong and rigid structure with useful damping characteristics.
The usable supporting area is approximately 480mm wide and 379mm deep to the beginning of the rear cable cut-out.
The plywood versions measure approximately 109mm high with the supplied accessories fitted.
Choice of Three Finishes

Recommended Maximum Rack Height
Blok recommends that a custom-built Stax 2G rack should not exceed an overall height of 1100mm.
The final height depends on the base, selected shelf modules, shelf material and chosen floor feet.
Plan the complete rack before ordering and place heavier equipment towards the lower levels wherever practical.
Keep the Rack Stable
Do not exceed Blok’s recommended 1100mm maximum height.
Use the rack on a level floor, position heavy equipment sensibly and avoid placing it where children, pets or passing traffic could knock the structure.
Adjustable Floor Feet
The Base Shelf includes four height-adjustable feet.
Once the complete rack is assembled and placed in its final position, the supplied adjustment tool fits over each foot mechanism so its height can be increased or decreased.
This allows the shelf to be levelled accurately without repeatedly lifting a fully assembled rack.
Spikes for Carpeted Floors
The foot assembly includes floor spikes for use on suitable carpeted surfaces.
The published spike height is approximately 22mm.
Make sure each spike passes through the carpet and reaches a firm supporting surface beneath it. Check for hidden pipes, cables or delicate flooring before applying concentrated pressure.
Integrated Rubber Feet for Hard Floors
Integrated rubber feet provide an alternative for timber, laminate, tile and other hard flooring.
The published hard-floor foot height is approximately 14mm.
Clean the floor and foot surfaces before installation to prevent trapped grit from marking a delicate finish.
Accurate Levelling
A level support is especially important for turntables, disc mechanisms and equipment with sensitive moving parts.
Position the rack where it will be used, check it from left to right and front to back, then adjust each foot until the shelf is stable and does not rock.
Recheck the level after adding heavy equipment because the carpet or flooring may settle under the additional weight.
Rear Cable Cut-Out
The rear edge of each shelf includes a smoothly shaped cable-management cut-out.
This provides additional space for mains leads, signal cables and larger connectors while allowing the rack to sit closer to a wall than a completely rectangular shelf might permit.
The usable depth specification is measured to the beginning of this cut-out. Equipment may extend into the cut-out area only where its feet remain securely supported.
Ventilation and Equipment Clearance
Always follow the equipment manufacturer’s ventilation instructions when choosing shelf heights.
Amplifiers and other warm-running products may require open space above and around their casework.
Do not select a shelf solely because the equipment will physically fit. Allow room for:
- Heat to escape
- Rear cable connections
- Top-loading mechanisms
- Turntable lids
- Control access
- Safe installation and removal
Allow More Than the Equipment Height
A component measuring 165mm high is unlikely to be suitable for a shelf with 170mm clearance.
Leave an appropriate air gap and follow the manufacturer’s minimum ventilation requirement.
Optional Mass Filling
The hollow Stax 2G support sections can be filled with a suitable acoustically inert material to increase mass and reduce resonance.
Concealed rubber bungs provide access to the internal cavities without leaving visible openings after assembly.
Each Base Shelf support has an internal capacity of approximately 0.7 litres.
Mass filling is optional. The rack can be assembled and used without it.
Choosing a Filling Material
Use a clean, dry and stable filling material intended for audio furniture or speaker stands.
Do not use wet sand, building materials, liquids, expanding foam or substances that could retain moisture, corrode the supports or prevent future disassembly.
Fill each support consistently so the rack remains evenly balanced.
Invisible Fixings
The shelf connections, bolt heads and isolation details are concealed once assembly is complete.
Four supplied bolt caps finish the unused upper connections when the base is being used by itself.
Remove and store the caps safely when adding another Stax 2G module.
Self-Assembly

Using the Base for a Turntable
A turntable can be positioned on the open top surface of the Base Shelf or on the uppermost level of a completed rack.
Make sure the turntable is level, its complete footprint fits the usable area and there is sufficient space to raise its lid.
Rooms with flexible suspended floors may still transmit footfall vibration, so a wall-mounted turntable shelf may be preferable in particularly difficult installations.
Care and Cleaning
Disconnect and remove equipment before carrying out extensive cleaning or adjustment.
Use a soft, dry or slightly damp microfibre cloth on the supports and plywood shelves.
Glass cleaner should be applied to the cloth rather than sprayed directly towards equipment, joints or floor surfaces.
Avoid abrasive pads, solvent-based cleaners and excessive moisture.
