Cyrus Classic Power Amplifier

Product Objective

The Classic POWER is the latest power amplifier within the familiar Classic range. The objective was to create a significant step up in performance from previous versions by using everything that we learnt when developing the fantastic XR Series, but retaining the familiar design of the Classic series. The circuit topology has been completely re- designed and the majority of the internal components have been upgraded by the Cyrus R&D team, which has resulted in sound improvements that will help the Classic series retain a loyal fan base for years to come.

Power Amplifier

The wideband power amplifier of the Classic POWER responds from D.C. to beyond 50kHz ensuring ruler flat frequency response and keeping any undesirable phase shifts out of the audio band. With a generous, over-specified power supply the Classic POWER power amplifier is very capable of reproducing the scale and drama of the musical performance.

High capacity power supply

The power supply includes a massive 408VA toroidal power transformer delivering power to a high capacity power supply.

PSX-R2 port

The Classic Power includes a port for the PSX-R2 power supply. Power from the PSX-R2 is routed internally to the voltage amplifier stage of the Classic POWER to provide a more stable, low-noise power supply to this key part of the amplifier.

Low power standby consumption

The Classic POWER can be remotely switched to and from a low consumption standby mode via MC-BUS or using the 12V trigger input.


Cyrus PSX-R2

The Cyrus PSX-R2 power supply acts the same as most higher-end equipment. It has been long known that removing high voltage circuitry from the more sensitive low voltage parts will dramatically improve sound quality. Similarly providing multiple voltage supplies removes interference from one part of a device to another.

Cyrus has long produced the PSX-R power supply – an off-board power supply that isolates the high voltage components and allows you to enjoy your equipment at its best. They have however incorporated many enhancements to the AC and DC portions of this version of the power supply that they developed for the 30th Anniversary system. This enables the PSX to extract even greater levels of performance when partnered with recent Cyrus amplifier designs.

The Cyrus PSX-R2 power supply is compatible with most Cyrus equipment – you just plug in your kit into the PSX-R2 instead of the mains and enjoy!

The Cyrus PSX-R2 is highly recommended for the Cyrus CD players and transports that are often reviewed with this power supply as the incredible improvement decimates the competition!
