The DALI PHANTOM H-80 speakers bring much of the scale and character of a conventional pair of cabinet loudspeakers to a discreet, flush-mounted installation.
Each speaker combines a substantial 8-inch paper and wood-fibre bass and midrange driver with a lightweight 28mm soft-dome tweeter. The large driver provides impressive bass weight and room-filling ability, while the tweeter delivers smooth detail and broad dispersion.
DALI describes the H-80 as a full-range architectural speaker. Its response extends down to 46Hz, making it suitable for serious stereo listening as well as front, surround or rear-channel duties within a home cinema.
The drivers are mounted to a solid MDF front baffle, providing a stable foundation while helping the speaker behave more like a traditional cabinet design. A high-quality crossover with PPTC protection divides the signal and helps safeguard the drivers against prolonged overheating.
Once installed, the thin magnetic grille leaves only a discreet square surface visible. The supplied white grille can be painted carefully to coordinate with the surrounding wall.
The PHANTOM H-80 is supplied by Audio T as a stereo pair. A separate amplifier is required, and the 6-ohm impedance with 90dB sensitivity makes the speakers compatible with a wide range of capable stereo and home cinema electronics.

DALI PHANTOM H-80 In-Wall Speakers
The DALI PHANTOM H-80 is a large passive architectural loudspeaker designed primarily for flush installation within a wall.

Traditional Hi-Fi Technology Within the Wall
The PHANTOM H Series applies many of DALI's established cabinet-speaker principles to an architectural design.
The large wood-fibre cone, soft-dome tweeter, solid MDF baffle and carefully developed crossover are intended to provide the clarity, scale and musical balance expected from a conventional Hi-Fi loudspeaker.
The installation removes the visible cabinet from the room but retains a forward-facing stereo presentation.
8-Inch Wood-Fibre Driver
Each PHANTOM H-80 contains one 8-inch bass and midrange driver.
The large cone can move more air than the smaller drivers used by the PHANTOM H-50 and H-60, providing greater bass weight, maximum output and dynamic scale.
It reproduces bass, voices and much of the instrumental range before handing over to the tweeter at approximately 2,350Hz.
Paper and Wood-Fibre Cone
The bass and midrange diaphragm combines fine paper pulp with reinforcing wood fibres.
The material is designed to provide a lightweight and rigid cone with useful natural damping.
The irregular distribution of the fibres helps prevent one narrow part of the cone from developing a strong resonance, supporting a clear midrange and controlled bass.
28mm Soft-Dome Tweeter
A lightweight 28mm soft-dome tweeter reproduces high-frequency information.
The oversized dome offers a broad working range and is positioned close to the woofer to support a smooth transition between the two drivers.

2,350Hz Crossover
The crossover divides the incoming amplifier signal between the 8-inch driver and 28mm tweeter at approximately 2,350Hz.
Below this region, the wood-fibre driver provides most of the output. Above it, the soft dome progressively takes over.
The network also controls their relative output and phase so that voices and instruments remain coherent through the crossover region.
High-Quality Crossover Components
DALI selects the crossover components to preserve detail while keeping the signal path relatively direct.
The spring-loaded speaker terminals are positioned on the crossover assembly, reducing the internal cable distance between the connection, filters and drive units.
PPTC Driver Protection
The crossover includes a Polymeric Positive Temperature Coefficient device, commonly described as a resettable fuse.
This helps protect the drivers against overheating if the speaker is operated at excessive volume for an extended period.
The protection system cannot compensate for unsuitable amplification, severe clipping or incorrect wiring, so sensible operating levels remain important.
Reduce the Volume if the Sound Changes
If the sound becomes harsh, compressed, distorted or intermittent, reduce the amplifier volume and allow the system to cool.
Solid MDF Front Baffle
The drive units are mounted to a solid MDF front baffle rather than relying solely on a lightweight moulded frame.
The rigid structure helps maintain accurate driver alignment and reduces unwanted vibration as the 8-inch cone moves.
Once clamped into the wall, the baffle forms a stable foundation for the complete speaker system.

Acoustic Backbox

Do Not Overtighten the Clamps
Tighten the fixings evenly until the speaker is secure and sits flush with the wall.
Excessive force can damage plasterboard, distort the front baffle or strip the mounting mechanism.
299 × 299mm Wall Cut-Out
Each PHANTOM H-80 requires a square opening measuring 299 × 299mm.
The official DALI template should be used rather than measuring from the outer edge of the speaker or grille.
The template must be completely level before the wall is marked and cut.
106mm Mounting Depth
The speaker requires approximately 106mm of clear depth behind the visible wall surface.

Thin Magnetic Grille
