JBL L52 Classic Standmount Speakers
The JBL L52 Classic are compact passive speakers inspired by the distinctive design of JBL’s larger L82 and L100 Classic models.
Each cabinet combines a white 133mm pure-pulp cone woofer, a 20mm titanium-dome tweeter and a front-firing tuned reflex port.
They are supplied as a mirror-imaged stereo pair in genuine Satin Walnut veneer, with a choice of Black, Blue or Orange Quadrex foam grilles.
A Separate Amplifier Is Required
The L52 Classic are passive loudspeakers and require a suitable stereo amplifier, streaming amplifier or AV receiver.
JBL recommends amplifier power between 10W and 75W RMS. Speaker cable and stands are not included.
Classic JBL Styling
The L52 Classic combine modern acoustic engineering with the visual character of JBL’s celebrated studio-inspired loudspeakers.
A genuine furniture-grade Satin Walnut veneer surrounds the black front and rear panels, while the thick Quadrex foam grille creates the instantly recognisable patterned appearance.
The grille attaches to the front of the cabinet and can be removed to reveal the white woofer, titanium tweeter, tuned port and high-frequency adjustment control.
133mm Pure-Pulp Woofer
The 5.25-inch woofer uses a lightweight white pure-pulp cone mounted within a rigid cast frame.
Its front-firing tuned reflex port reinforces the lower frequencies, helping the compact cabinet deliver useful bass extension and a fuller presentation than its dimensions might suggest.
JBL specifies a frequency response extending down to 47Hz at the -6dB point, making the L52 Classic suitable for a wide variety of music without requiring a subwoofer in every system.
Titanium Tweeter with Acoustic Lens
A 20mm titanium-dome tweeter handles frequencies above the 2.8kHz crossover point.
The tweeter is partnered with an acoustic lens and shallow waveguide, helping control its dispersion and maintain a focused stereo image across the listening area.
This gives the L52 Classic an open, detailed presentation while helping the treble integrate with the larger pure-pulp woofer.
Adjustable High-Frequency Level
A front-mounted rotary control allows the tweeter level to be adjusted relative to the woofer.
The marked 0dB position provides the recommended starting point. The control can then be adjusted carefully if the room, equipment or speaker placement makes the balance sound too bright or too subdued.
Begin at the 0dB Position
Set both speakers to the same position and listen for several days before making significant changes.
Once the speakers have settled into the system, make small and matching adjustments to both controls.
Mirror-Imaged Stereo Pair
The left and right speakers use mirrored front-baffle layouts rather than two identical driver arrangements.
Position the pair symmetrically so that the driver layouts mirror one another across the listening area.
The preferred orientation can be confirmed during installation by comparing central focus, image width and tonal balance.
Stands and Room Positioning
Although JBL describes the L52 Classic as a bookshelf speaker, a stable pair of stands will usually provide the greatest positioning freedom and most consistent stereo performance.
JBL recommends a stand height of approximately 609mm, or 24 inches. The final height should position the tweeter close to seated ear level or allow it to be angled towards the listener.
Begin with the speakers approximately 1.8m to 2.4m apart and at least 500mm from the side walls where the room allows. Moving them closer to walls or corners will generally increase bass output.

Optional Wall Mounting
Two threaded inserts on the rear of each cabinet allow the L52 Classic to be used with a compatible third-party wall bracket.
The inserts use an M6 × 1.0 thread, are spaced 67mm centre to centre and accept a maximum screw length of 12mm.
Check Bracket and Wall Compatibility
Only use brackets and fixings capable of safely supporting each 5kg speaker.
The fixing method must suit the wall construction, and the mounting screws must not exceed JBL’s stated maximum length.
Amplifier Matching
The L52 Classic have a nominal impedance of 4 ohms and a sensitivity of 85dB at 2.83V measured at one metre.
A well-designed amplifier that is comfortable driving 4-ohm speakers is therefore more important than choosing the highest possible power rating.
The single pair of gold-plated binding posts accepts bare wire, pin connectors, spade connectors and compatible banana plugs.
