Audio T Verdict
The Dynaudio Emit 50 is the flagship model in the Emit range, combining a Cerotar soft-dome tweeter, dedicated 15cm MSP midrange driver and twin 18cm MSP woofers in a full three-way floorstanding design.
The dedicated midrange allows voices and instruments to be reproduced without the large cone movement required for deep bass, while the two woofers provide considerably greater scale and low-frequency authority than the smaller Emit models.
With a published response reaching 33Hz at the +/-3dB point, the Emit 50 can deliver genuinely substantial bass in a medium or large room. Its rear port system means careful positioning and sensible wall clearance remain important.
The 86dB sensitivity and 4-ohm rated impedance make amplifier quality more important than the headline sensitivity figure might suggest. A capable amplifier with good current delivery will produce firmer bass, cleaner dynamics and greater control at higher levels.
Compared with the Emit 30, it offers a true three-way layout, larger bass drivers and much deeper extension. It also requires more space and stronger amplification, so the smaller model may remain the better choice in a restricted room.
For customers who want the most powerful and complete speaker in the Emit range, the Emit 50 provides convincing full-range performance without moving into the significantly higher cost of Dynaudio’s Evoke or Contour models.
Dynaudio Emit 50 Floorstanding Speakers
The Dynaudio Emit 50 is a passive three-way floorstanding loudspeaker designed for high-quality stereo systems and ambitious multichannel home cinema installations.
Each speaker combines:
- One 28mm Cerotar coated fabric soft-dome tweeter
- Dynaudio’s Hexis resonance-control inner dome
- One dedicated 15cm MSP midrange driver
- Two dedicated 18cm MSP woofers
- A hybrid three-way passive crossover
- A rear-mounted dual-flared bass-reflex system
- An 18mm MDF cabinet
- Model-specific polyester-fibre damping
- A wide floor-support assembly
- Black removable magnetic grilles
- A single pair of loudspeaker terminals
The Emit 50 is supplied as a stereo pair, with each speaker packaged separately.
The Flagship Emit Model
The Emit 50 sits above the Emit 10, Emit 20, Emit 25C and Emit 30 as the largest speaker in Dynaudio’s current Emit range.
It differs from the smaller models by using a complete three-way driver arrangement:
- The Cerotar tweeter handles high frequencies
- The 15cm MSP driver is dedicated to the midrange
- The two 18cm MSP woofers reproduce the bass
This separation allows each driver section to be engineered for a more focused part of the frequency range.
Designed for Medium and Large Rooms
The Emit 50 is intended for rooms and systems that require greater scale, bass depth and output than the Emit 30 can provide.
It is particularly well suited to:
- Medium and large listening rooms
- Longer listening distances
- Music with substantial low-frequency content
- Higher playback levels
- Large orchestral and live recordings
- Electronic music
- Premium home cinema front channels
The larger cabinet and deeper bass also make correct room positioning more important than with the compact Emit models.
Full Three-Way Driver Configuration
The Emit 50 divides the audible range between three dedicated driver sections.
The two 18cm woofers reproduce the low frequencies before handing over to the 15cm midrange driver at approximately 540Hz. The midrange then operates through the vocal and instrumental range before the Cerotar tweeter takes over at approximately 4400Hz.
This arrangement provides several advantages:
- The woofers can concentrate on producing deep bass
- The midrange driver is not required to reproduce large low-frequency movements
- The tweeter works above a carefully selected crossover point
- Each section can be optimised for its intended role
- Greater output can be achieved with less strain on each driver
28mm Cerotar Soft-Dome Tweeter
High frequencies are reproduced by Dynaudio’s 28mm Cerotar coated fabric soft-dome tweeter.
The Cerotar was developed for the Evoke range and incorporates ideas derived from Dynaudio products including Special Forty, Confidence and the Core professional monitor range.
Its principal elements include:
- A coated fabric soft-dome diaphragm
- Dynaudio’s Hexis inner dome
- A lightweight aluminium voice coil
- A Ferrite+ ceramic magnet system
- Controlled airflow behind the diaphragm
- A damped internal cavity
The tweeter is designed to combine useful detail and openness with the smooth, controlled character associated with Dynaudio’s fabric-dome designs.
Coated Fabric Diaphragm
The Cerotar uses a coated fabric playing surface rather than a rigid metal dome.
The fabric and surface treatment provide a combination of:
- Low moving mass
- Controlled internal damping
- Smooth diaphragm behaviour
- Consistent production
- Reduced dependence on a strong resonant peak
The dome, coating, voice coil, Hexis and motor system are engineered as one complete high-frequency assembly.
Hexis Resonance-Control Inner Dome
The Hexis is a small dimpled inner dome positioned immediately behind the Cerotar diaphragm.
Its shape guides airflow behind the soft dome and helps prevent internal standing waves from reflecting back towards the playing surface.
Reducing this unwanted energy can improve:
- High-frequency smoothness
- Transient control
- Low-level detail
- Decay and ambience
- Integration with the dedicated midrange driver
The Hexis concept is also used within Dynaudio’s more expensive Evoke, Contour i and Confidence loudspeakers.
Ferrite+ Ceramic Tweeter Motor
The Cerotar tweeter is driven by a strontium-carbonate Ferrite+ ceramic magnet system.
The motor provides the magnetic field required to move the lightweight aluminium voice coil and fabric diaphragm accurately.
It is designed to provide suitable sensitivity, control and thermal stability during quiet listening and more demanding playback.
Lightweight Aluminium Tweeter Voice Coil
The Cerotar uses an aluminium voice coil to keep the high-frequency moving mass low.
A lighter moving assembly can respond quickly to small changes in the musical signal while reducing stored energy within the driver.
The voice coil, dome and motor system must remain controlled during both fine detail and high-level treble peaks.
Dedicated 15cm MSP Midrange Driver
The Emit 50 is the only model in the Emit range to use a dedicated 15cm midrange driver.
This unit reproduces the region between the 540Hz and 4400Hz crossover points, including much of the information responsible for:
- Vocal character
- Instrumental tone
- Guitar and piano detail
- Orchestral strings and wind instruments
- Image placement
- Recording-space ambience
Because it is not required to reproduce deep bass, the driver can use a lighter moving system optimised for midrange speed and precision.
One-Piece MSP Midrange Cone
The midrange cone is made from Dynaudio’s Magnesium Silicate Polymer, commonly abbreviated to MSP.
The cone and central dust-cap area are moulded as one continuous diaphragm rather than assembled from separate components.
This construction provides:
- Consistent behaviour across the diaphragm
- Controlled stiffness
- Useful internal damping
- A strong mechanical connection to the voice coil
- No separate dust-cap joint to introduce another resonance
38mm Aluminium Midrange Voice Coil
The dedicated midrange uses a shortened version of Dynaudio’s 38mm-diameter aluminium voice coil.
The shorter winding and lightweight aluminium construction are selected specifically for midrange reproduction rather than large low-frequency excursion.
The arrangement supports:
- Low moving mass
- Fast transient response
- Controlled vocal reproduction
- Accurate instrumental texture
- Clean integration with the Cerotar tweeter
Ferrite Ceramic Midrange Magnet
A ferrite ceramic magnet system drives the dedicated midrange unit.
The motor provides the magnetic force required to control the aluminium voice coil and MSP diaphragm across the driver’s operating range.
The driver also uses a lightweight surround designed to support the relatively small movements required for midrange reproduction.
Twin 18cm MSP Woofers
Low frequencies are reproduced by two dedicated 18cm MSP woofers.
The basic driver platform is related to the 18cm unit used in the Emit 20, but the Emit 50 versions are optimised exclusively for bass reproduction.
The twin-driver arrangement provides:
- Greater total cone area
- Lower excursion for each driver at a given level
- Greater low-frequency output
- Improved dynamic headroom
- Deeper bass extension
- Greater scale in medium and large rooms
One-Piece MSP Woofer Cones
Each woofer uses a one-piece MSP cone with an integrated central dust-cap area.
Forming the diaphragm as one continuous component provides a direct connection between the playing surface and voice-coil assembly.
This helps improve control while reducing unwanted resonance from a separate dust-cap joint.
Copper Woofer Voice Coils
Unlike the mid/bass drivers used in the smaller Emit models, the Emit 50 woofers use copper voice coils.
The additional moving mass of copper suits a dedicated bass driver because the woofers are not required to reproduce the faster upper-midrange frequencies.
The copper windings are intended to provide:
- Strong low-frequency drive
- Useful thermal capacity
- Controlled cone movement
- Substantial dynamic impact
- Improved bass weight and authority
Dual-Stacked Woofer Magnet Systems
Each woofer uses a dual-stacked magnet system designed to direct magnetic energy efficiently into the voice coil.
The stronger motor helps maintain control over the 18cm MSP cone as excursion and playback level increase.
This supports:
- Cleaner bass transients
- Improved stopping behaviour
- Greater output before compression
- More consistent cone movement
- Better integration with the dedicated midrange
Dedicated Bass-Driver Suspension
The woofer suspension systems are designed to permit the cone movement required for deep bass while keeping each voice coil centred within its magnetic gap.
The suspension must control both forward and backward movement and return the cones accurately to their resting positions.
Correct suspension behaviour becomes increasingly important during sustained bass notes and high-level soundtrack effects.
Hybrid Three-Way Crossover
The Emit 50 uses a hybrid passive crossover rather than applying the same electrical slope to all three driver sections.
Dynaudio specifies:
- A first-order electrical circuit for the tweeter
- A second-order electrical circuit for the midrange
- A fourth-order electrical circuit for the woofers
- A 540Hz woofer-to-midrange crossover
- A 4400Hz midrange-to-tweeter crossover
The different topologies are selected to achieve the required acoustic integration from the individual driver responses and cabinet layout.
First-Order Tweeter Filter
The Cerotar tweeter uses a first-order electrical filter.
A first-order circuit provides a relatively gentle electrical slope, although the final acoustic response also depends on the tweeter’s natural roll-off, baffle and interaction with the midrange driver.
The electrical topology should therefore not be interpreted as the complete measured acoustic slope.
Second-Order Midrange Filter
The dedicated 15cm midrange uses a second-order electrical topology.
The crossover must control its output at both the lower transition to the woofers and the upper transition to the tweeter.
The midrange driver, crossover and cabinet are designed together to maintain consistent output and phase through the vocal and instrumental range.
Fourth-Order Woofer Filter
The twin 18cm woofers use a fourth-order electrical crossover topology.
The steeper filter reduces their output more rapidly above the 540Hz transition and keeps their contribution focused within the bass.
This helps prevent the larger bass drivers from interfering unnecessarily with the dedicated midrange unit.
540Hz Woofer-to-Midrange Crossover
The twin woofers operate up to the crossover region around 540Hz.
The dedicated midrange then takes responsibility for voices and instruments without having to reproduce the large cone movements associated with deep bass.
The transition must remain smooth in output and phase so that bass instruments retain their natural body as their harmonics move into the midrange.
4400Hz Midrange-to-Tweeter Crossover
The 15cm midrange hands over to the Cerotar tweeter at approximately 4400Hz.
The relatively high crossover point makes use of the dedicated midrange driver’s ability to operate cleanly through a broad frequency range.
The tweeter, midrange, baffle and crossover must integrate without making voices or instruments appear divided between separate drivers.
Rear Dual-Flared Bass-Reflex System
The Emit 50 uses a rear-mounted bass-reflex system with flared port openings.
The flared profile allows air to accelerate and decelerate more gradually as it moves through the port system.
This is designed to reduce:
- Air turbulence
- Port compression
- Audible chuffing
- Mechanical noise on deep notes
- Changes in behaviour at higher output levels
Rear-Port Positioning
The distance between the speakers and the wall behind them will influence the final low-frequency balance.
Moving the Emit 50 closer to a rear wall will normally increase perceived bass output.
Moving the speakers further into the room can improve:
- Bass definition
- Low-frequency timing
- Soundstage depth
- Instrument separation
- The consistency of individual bass notes
The optimum position will depend on the room dimensions, wall construction and listening-seat position.
Allow the Bass System to Breathe
Begin with both speakers positioned symmetrically and with clear space behind the rear ports.
Make small, equal adjustments to each speaker while listening for the best balance of bass weight, definition and soundstage depth.
33Hz to 25kHz Frequency Response
Dynaudio specifies a frequency response from 33Hz to 25kHz within a +/-3dB tolerance.
At the wider -6dB tolerance, the published response extends from 28Hz to 35kHz.
The difference between these figures demonstrates why a frequency range must always be read alongside its stated measurement tolerance.
Actual in-room bass will also depend on:
- Distance from the rear and side walls
- Room dimensions
- Floor construction
- Listening-seat position
- Amplifier control
- Room modes
- Acoustic treatment
Deep Bass and Room Interaction
A loudspeaker capable of reaching below 30Hz at the wider tolerance can reveal room problems that may have been less obvious with a smaller design.
At certain frequencies, the room can cause bass to become exaggerated in one listening position and weak in another.
Small changes to the speaker or seating position can produce significant improvements in bass consistency.
Room measurement and acoustic treatment may be useful where positioning alone cannot provide an even result.
Using the Emit 50 Without a Subwoofer
The Emit 50 is designed to provide substantial full-range performance without automatically requiring an active subwoofer.
Its twin 18cm woofers can reproduce convincing weight from:
- Bass guitars
- Kick drums
- Grand piano
- Double bass
- Large orchestral instruments
- Electronic music
- Film soundtracks
For most conventional stereo systems, a subwoofer should be treated as an optional extension rather than an essential purchase.
Adding the Dynaudio Sub 3
The Dynaudio Sub 3 can add deeper extension and greater low-frequency flexibility to a stereo or home cinema system.
A subwoofer may provide:
- Additional low-frequency headroom
- Greater film soundtrack impact
- Independent positioning of the deepest bass source
- More flexibility when managing room modes
- Reduced low-frequency demand on an AV amplifier
Correct integration requires careful adjustment of level, crossover frequency, phase and room position.
86dB Sensitivity
The Emit 50 has a specified sensitivity of 86dB at 2.83V measured at one metre.
This is lower than the 88dB figure quoted for the smaller Emit 30, so the larger cabinet and driver system should not automatically be assumed to require less amplifier power.
The required output will depend on:
- Room size
- Listening distance
- Preferred volume
- Musical dynamics
- Amplifier current delivery
- The required headroom above average listening level
4-Ohm Rated Impedance
Dynaudio specifies a rated impedance of 4 ohms.
The partnering amplifier should be suitable for a 4-ohm speaker and capable of supplying sufficient current during demanding bass passages.
A 4-ohm load can require more current than a conventional 8-ohm loudspeaker at the same output voltage.
240W IEC Long-Term Power Handling
Dynaudio specifies IEC long-term power handling of 240W.
This does not mean that a 240W amplifier is compulsory, nor does it guarantee that the speaker cannot be damaged by an amplifier carrying the same rating.
A lower-powered amplifier driven into clipping can create harmful distortion, while a more powerful amplifier used within sensible limits may provide cleaner dynamic headroom.
Reduce the Volume if the Sound Becomes Distorted
Audible hardness, compression, crackling or obvious distortion can indicate that the amplifier or speakers are being overloaded.
Reduce the volume immediately rather than continuing at the same level.
Amplifier Matching
The Emit 50 deserves amplification capable of controlling two 18cm woofers while preserving the clarity of the dedicated midrange and Cerotar tweeter.
Important considerations include:
- Stable output into 4 ohms
- Current delivery
- Power-supply capacity
- Low-frequency control
- Pre-amplifier quality
- Noise performance
- Room size and listening distance
- Required dynamic headroom
A high-quality integrated amplifier can provide excellent results, while larger rooms and higher playback levels may justify separate pre-amplification and power amplification.
The final choice should be established through demonstration rather than comparing headline wattage figures alone.
Browse integrated amplifiers and separates at Audio T to explore suitable options.
Single-Wire Loudspeaker Connections
Each Emit 50 uses one pair of rear loudspeaker terminals.
The speakers are designed for conventional single wiring rather than passive bi-wiring or bi-amping.
The amplifier should always be switched off before speaker cables are connected or removed.
Compatible Cable Connections
The Emit-series terminals support properly prepared stripped speaker cable and compatible 4mm banana plugs.
Cable spades are not supported by the Emit terminal design.
Loose bare-wire strands must not be allowed to touch the opposite terminal, as this could short-circuit the amplifier output.
Correct Speaker Polarity
Connect the positive amplifier terminal to the positive speaker terminal and the negative amplifier terminal to the negative speaker terminal.
If one speaker is connected with reversed polarity, the system may lose bass weight, central focus and stereo-image stability even though both speakers continue to produce sound.
The left and right speaker-cable runs should be approximately the same length.
Speaker-Cable Selection
Dynaudio recommends speaker cable with a conductor cross-sectional area of at least 1.5mm².
Performance may begin to suffer with runs extending beyond approximately 15 metres, depending on the cable construction and amplifier.
Selection should consider:
- Total cable length
- Conductor area
- Amplifier compatibility
- Connector quality
- Installation route
- The balance of the complete system
Browse speaker cables available from Audio T to compare suitable options.
18mm MDF Cabinet
The Emit 50 cabinet is constructed from 18mm MDF.
The enclosure provides a rigid platform for the Cerotar tweeter, dedicated midrange and twin woofers.
Cabinet rigidity helps reduce:
- Panel vibration
- Unwanted midrange colouration
- Mechanical noise
- Stored energy within the enclosure
- Loss of low-level detail
Model-Specific Polyester Damping
The cabinet is damped with specially selected polyester material.
The amount and positioning of this material are tuned for the Emit 50’s internal volume, crossover and bass-reflex alignment.
The damping helps absorb unwanted energy inside the cabinet and reduces sound reflecting back through the driver diaphragms.
Too little damping can allow internal resonance to colour the sound, while excessive damping can alter efficiency and bass tuning.
Clean Scandinavian Styling
The Emit 50 uses a clean rectangular cabinet with understated lines, concealed driver fixings and a broad floor-support assembly.
Its relatively slim 205mm cabinet width allows it to provide substantial driver area without appearing excessively bulky from the front.
The moulded driver surrounds conceal the mounting screws and maintain a clean appearance when the grilles are removed.
Black, White and Walnut Finishes
Audio T currently lists the Emit 50 in:
All three versions use durable custom laminate finishes.
The finishes coordinate with the Emit 10, Emit 20, Emit 25C and Emit 30, helping a multichannel installation maintain a consistent appearance.
Black Magnetic Grilles
Black magnetic grilles are supplied with every cabinet finish.
The magnetic attachment avoids visible locating holes when the grilles are removed and allows them to be fitted without tools.
The grilles help protect the Cerotar tweeter and MSP diaphragms from dust and accidental contact.
Never press on the delicate tweeter diaphragm while removing or replacing a grille.
Wide Floor-Support Assembly
The main cabinet measures 205mm wide, while the complete speaker measures approximately 302mm across its floor-support assembly.
The wider footprint provides additional stability without making the main enclosure visually bulky.
The floor supports and contact hardware should be fitted according to the supplied instructions before final positioning.
Floor Contact and Levelling
Each speaker should stand vertically on a firm, level surface without rocking.
The appropriate supplied floor-contact hardware should be selected for carpeted or hard-floor installations.
Protective discs or pads should be used where required to avoid marking wood, tile or other sensitive surfaces.
Plan the Installation Before Unpacking
Each Emit 50 weighs approximately 26kg and is supplied in its own carton.
Check doors, stairs, corners and the final speaker positions before unpacking. Two-person handling is recommended when fitting the floor supports or moving the speakers into place.
Speaker Positioning
Begin with the speakers positioned symmetrically and with clear space behind the rear ports.
Move both speakers in equal increments while assessing:
- Bass weight
- Bass definition
- Central vocal focus
- Soundstage width
- Soundstage depth
- Image stability
Small changes in wall clearance, speaker spacing or listening-seat position can produce worthwhile improvements.
Speaker Spacing
The distance between the speakers should normally be similar to, or slightly less than, the distance from each speaker to the main listening position.
If the speakers are positioned too closely, the soundstage may lack width and scale.
If they are positioned too far apart, voices and instruments in the centre can become diffuse or disconnected.
Toe-In and Listening Angle
There is no single toe-in angle that will suit every room.
Greater toe-in can:
- Strengthen central image focus
- Reduce some side-wall reflection
- Create a more direct high-frequency balance
Less toe-in can:
- Broaden the apparent soundstage
- Create a more relaxed tonal balance
- Provide more even coverage across a wider seating area
Both speakers should be adjusted by the same amount.
Listening Distance
The Emit 50 is designed to produce substantial scale in medium and large rooms.
The listening distance should allow the tweeter, midrange and woofer sections to integrate naturally.
Very close listening may make the physical separation between the driver sections more apparent, while an excessively distant position may allow the room to dominate the direct sound.
Symmetrical Room Placement
Where practical, the immediate surroundings of the left and right speakers should have similar acoustic properties.
Placing one speaker beside heavy curtains and the other beside a bare reflective wall can affect tonal balance and stereo imaging.
Windows, alcoves, open doorways, fireplaces and substantial furniture should all be considered during setup.
Using the Emit 50 in a Home Cinema System
The Emit 50 can form the front left and right channels of a powerful Dynaudio Emit home cinema system.
The shared Cerotar tweeter and related MSP technology help maintain consistent tonal character across the range.
A complete system can combine:
- Emit 50 front speakers
- Emit 25C centre speaker
- Emit 10 or Emit 20 surround speakers
- One or more suitable active subwoofers
Matching Centre Speaker
The Dynaudio Emit 25C is the dedicated centre-channel speaker for the Emit range.
It uses the same Cerotar tweeter and related MSP technology, helping dialogue and effects retain a consistent character as they move across the front soundstage.
AV Receiver and Power-Amplifier Matching
When the Emit 50 is used in a multichannel system, the AV amplification should be selected for the complete speaker arrangement rather than only the front pair.
Important considerations include:
- Stable operation into 4 ohms
- Power available with several channels operating
- Current delivery
- External power-amplifier compatibility
- Room size and listening distance
- Subwoofer integration
- Required film and music playback levels
A capable AV receiver may be suitable in a modest room, while a separate power amplifier can provide additional control and headroom in a larger installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Dynaudio Emit 50 sold as a pair?
Yes. The Audio T product is supplied as a stereo pair, with each speaker packaged separately.
Is the Emit 50 a three-way speaker?
Yes. It uses a dedicated tweeter, midrange driver and twin bass drivers.
Which drivers does it use?
Each speaker uses one 28mm Cerotar tweeter, one dedicated 15cm MSP midrange and two 18cm MSP woofers.
Which tweeter is fitted?
A 28mm Cerotar coated fabric soft-dome tweeter with Dynaudio’s Hexis inner dome.
What is the Hexis?
It is a dimpled inner dome positioned behind the tweeter diaphragm to control airflow and reduce internal resonance.
Why does the Emit 50 use a dedicated midrange?
It allows the woofers to concentrate on deep bass while the lighter 15cm driver reproduces voices and instruments without large low-frequency cone movements.
What does MSP mean?
MSP stands for Magnesium Silicate Polymer, Dynaudio’s proprietary cone material.
What size are the woofers?
Each speaker uses two 18cm MSP woofers.
Why do the woofers use copper voice coils?
The extra moving mass suits their dedicated bass role, while the separate midrange driver handles the frequencies requiring a lighter moving system.
What type of midrange voice coil is used?
The 15cm midrange uses a shortened 38mm-diameter aluminium voice coil designed specifically for midrange reproduction.
What are the crossover frequencies?
Dynaudio specifies 540Hz and 4400Hz.
What is the crossover topology?
The Emit 50 uses a first-order tweeter circuit, second-order midrange circuit and fourth-order woofer circuit.
What type of enclosure is used?
A rear-ported bass-reflex cabinet with dual-flared port construction.
What is the frequency response?
Dynaudio specifies 33Hz to 25kHz at +/-3dB and 28Hz to 35kHz at -6dB.
What is the sensitivity?
86dB at 2.83V measured at one metre.
Why is the sensitivity lower than the Emit 30?
Sensitivity depends on the complete driver, crossover and cabinet design. A physically larger loudspeaker is not automatically more sensitive.
What is the rated impedance?
4 ohms.
Is the Emit 50 difficult to drive?
It is not exceptionally severe, but the 4-ohm impedance, moderate sensitivity and twin woofers mean it benefits from a capable amplifier with good current delivery.
How much amplifier power is required?
There is no single correct figure. Room size, listening distance, preferred volume, current delivery and amplifier quality all matter.
Does it require a 240W amplifier?
No. The 240W figure is its IEC long-term power-handling specification, not a compulsory amplifier rating.
Can the speakers be bi-wired?
No. Each Emit 50 uses one pair of loudspeaker terminals for conventional single wiring.
Which cable connectors are supported?
The Emit terminals support properly prepared stripped cable and compatible 4mm banana plugs. Cable spades are not supported.
How far should the speakers be from the wall?
Begin with clear space behind the rear ports where practical, then move both speakers equally while assessing bass weight and definition.
Can the Emit 50 be placed close to a wall?
It can, but wall proximity will normally increase perceived bass output. The room and position should be assessed carefully before final installation.
Should the speakers be toed in?
Experiment with equal toe-in on both channels. The best angle depends on the room, listening distance and preferred balance between image focus and soundstage width.
Does the Emit 50 require a subwoofer?
Not for most stereo systems. Its 33Hz published lower cutoff provides substantial bass, although a subwoofer can add headroom or specialist home cinema extension.
Can the Emit 50 be used in a home cinema?
Yes. It can form the front left and right channels of an Emit multichannel system.
Which centre speaker matches it?
The Dynaudio Emit 25C is the dedicated centre-channel speaker for the Emit range.
Are magnetic grilles included?
Yes. Black magnetic grilles are supplied.
Which finishes are available?
Audio T currently lists Black, White and Walnut, subject to availability.
What are the cabinet dimensions?
Dynaudio specifies 205 x 1140 x 312mm (W x H x D).
What are the dimensions including the feet and grille?
Dynaudio specifies 302 x 1187 x 376mm (W x H x D).
How much does each speaker weigh?
Approximately 26kg.
How are the speakers packaged?
Each speaker is packaged separately, so a stereo pair is supplied in two cartons.
What warranty is available?
Dynaudio passive speakers receive the applicable standard legal and manufacturer warranty. Registration within 12 months of purchase can extend total cover to 96 months, subject to Dynaudio’s full terms and proof of purchase.
