Dynaudio Contour 60i Speakers

Dynaudio Contour 60i Speakers

The latest Contour series uses the all new ultra-pure, ultra-clear Esotar2i fabric soft-dome tweeter that features the ingenious Hexis resonance-defeating inner dome, plus a new, larger rear chamber. Together they reduce distortion and gives a flatter frequency response.

In order to compliment one of the finest tweeters ever they have developed the new Contour 60i has new woofers with a bigger magnet system, a different voice-coil design and a glass-fibre voice-coil former, as first used in the Confidence range and Sub 6 subwoofer. That means even tighter bass, at higher volume.

The entire crossover has been re-designed, including higher crossover frequencies due to using nomex spiders in the woofers and a unique new moulded and damped mid-range encosure derived from the Core professional reference monitors.

Ultimately all this awesome new technology is wrapped in a stunning elegant and sleek looking cabinet that provides a solid foundation for the drivers to do their job. It’s a masterpiece both visually and sonically. The sonic benefits of this cabinet are substantial: reduced high-frequency diffractions, improved off-axis listening to name a few. They are built with genuine Dynaudio craftsmanship in a process that takes 3 weeks, 11 stages of lacquer, and 16 pieces of sand paper.

The Contour 60i is a three-way design. At the bottom sits two brand-new 24cm MSP woofers (They’re bigger, redesigned siblings of the 18cm drivers used in the Contour 20i and 30i). At the top, in the new Contour range, is the magnificent Esotar2i soft-dome tweeter. Between them is a 15cm midrange driver in a new moulded housing. It also deploys a neodymium magnet system, and was designed using Finite Element Method optimization methods. Dynaudio wanted to retain the signature midrange sound in a lager cabinet, without having to repurpose an existing driver for a job it wasn’t designed for. All the drivers are powered by low-mass, high durability aluminium voice-coils. The tweeter’s voice-coil sits in a special magnetic ferrofluid. It works like a shock absorber and dissipates heat to reduce stress on the moving parts – which improves power-handling and widens the frequency response to mention as few of its benefits.
