Audio T Verdict
The IsoAcoustics zaZen Series provides a simple and beautifully finished isolation solution for turntables, valve amplifiers and other vibration-sensitive hi-fi components.
Each model combines a dense, void-free fibre platform with integrated IsoAcoustics isolators. The platform’s mass provides a stable foundation, while the isolators reduce structural vibration travelling between the equipment and its supporting rack, shelf or furniture.
This can be particularly valuable beneath a turntable, where vibration from footsteps, loudspeakers and the surrounding structure can interfere with the stylus as it follows the record groove.
zaZen I supports equipment weighing up to 11.3kg, while the slightly taller zaZen II supports up to 18.1kg. Both share the same useful 432 × 381mm footprint and low-profile medium gloss black finish.
Choosing the correct model requires checking the complete equipment weight and the position of its supporting feet. The platform must also sit on a rigid, level surface capable of carrying the combined load safely.
IsoAcoustics zaZen Turntable and Hi-Fi Isolation Platforms
The IsoAcoustics zaZen Series is designed to provide a stable, low-noise foundation for turntables, valve amplifiers and other sensitive audio equipment.
Its dense platform works together with four integrated IsoAcoustics isolators, reducing structure-borne vibration without requiring individual isolation feet to be positioned beneath the component.
The supported equipment remains on its original feet, making zaZen particularly straightforward to install and suitable for components whose chassis cannot make safe direct contact with individual isolators.
Select the Correct zaZen Model
zaZen I and zaZen II have the same width and depth but different heights and weight capacities.
Use the complete net weight of the turntable or component, including any separate motor or accessory that will also sit on the platform.

A Stable Foundation for Turntables
A turntable cartridge creates its electrical signal by following extremely small movements within the record groove.
Vibration reaching the deck through a shelf, equipment rack or item of furniture can interfere with this delicate process. At its most obvious, this may cause feedback or skipping. More subtle vibration may obscure fine detail, reduce clarity or affect bass definition.
The zaZen platform reduces the mechanical connection between the turntable and its supporting furniture, helping the deck operate with less interference from structure-borne vibration.
Reducing the Effect of Footsteps
Turntables positioned on suspended timber floors can be sensitive to footsteps and movement elsewhere in the room.
The combination of the platform’s mass and the integrated isolators can reduce vibration travelling through the floor and furniture towards the turntable.
The supporting rack or shelf must still be stable. A platform cannot fully compensate for furniture that rocks, flexes excessively or moves every time someone crosses the room.
Isolation Cannot Correct Unsafe Furniture
The rack, shelf or cabinet must remain rigid, level and capable of supporting the combined weight of the zaZen and the equipment.
Do not position the platform where one or more isolators overhang the supporting surface.
Lowering the Mechanical Noise Floor
Mechanical vibration may affect playback even when it is not severe enough to make the stylus jump.
Reducing this interference can help subtle musical information, ambience and spatial detail become easier to hear.
The zaZen is intended to reveal more of the performance already available from the supported component rather than impose a new tonal character on the system.
What Improvements Might You Hear?
- Reduced sensitivity to structure-borne vibration
- Greater low-level detail
- Cleaner and more clearly defined bass
- Improved midrange clarity
- Greater stereo focus
- A quieter perceived background
The scale of any improvement will depend on the equipment, supporting furniture, floor construction, room and existing isolation arrangement.
Dense, Void-Free Fibre Construction
The zaZen platform is made from a very dense fibre material containing no internal voids.
This gives the platform useful mass and stability while keeping it smaller and lighter than IsoAcoustics’ substantial DELOS hardwood platforms.
The dense structure complements the isolation feet and provides a flat supporting surface beneath the component’s existing feet.
Medium Gloss Black Finish
The dense platform is finished in medium gloss black, allowing it to sit discreetly beneath a broad variety of turntables and hi-fi components.
The understated finish works well with black, silver and natural-wood equipment without dominating the appearance of the system.
Clean the surface using a soft microfibre cloth. Soap and water may be used where needed, but abrasive cleaners and aggressive chemicals should be avoided.
Integrated IsoAcoustics Isolators
The isolation feet are incorporated into the underside of the platform rather than supplied as separate loose parts.
They are partially recessed and securely fastened to the dense board, creating a strong and consistent connection with the platform.
This integrated arrangement makes setup straightforward because the user does not need to calculate the position or spacing of individual isolation feet.
Based on GAIA Isolation Technology
The integrated isolators are based on the design principles used within IsoAcoustics’ award-winning GAIA Series.
Each isolator uses interacting upper and lower sections with an internal connector. The isolation performance results from the way these elements work together rather than from a single soft pad beneath the platform.
The shape, material and hardness of the isolators are tuned for the intended load range of each zaZen model.
Why the Weight Limit Matters
IsoAcoustics determines its published limits using the performance curve of the isolators.
The platform may physically support additional weight without immediate damage, but the isolation performance begins to decline once the specified capacity is exceeded.
Select the model whose recommended load comfortably covers the complete equipment weight rather than deliberately overloading the smaller platform.
Do Not Exceed the Recommended Capacity
zaZen I supports equipment weighing up to 11.3kg, while zaZen II supports up to 18.1kg.
For heavier turntables and components, select an appropriate IsoAcoustics DELOS platform.
Measure the Equipment Feet
Both zaZen models provide a surface measuring 432mm wide and 381mm deep.
Measure the distance between the outer edges of the component’s supporting feet rather than relying only on its overall cabinet dimensions.
Every foot must remain fully supported. A turntable may appear to fit within the platform while one or more feet extend beyond its edges.
Turntables with External Motors
The zaZen is particularly useful for compatible turntables with a separate motor.
Placing individual isolators only beneath the main turntable can raise the deck while leaving the motor at its original height, potentially changing the belt angle or pulley alignment.
A sufficiently large zaZen allows both the turntable and motor to sit together on the same isolated level surface.
Measure the Complete Turntable System
Include the external motor, belt path and every supporting foot when checking the platform dimensions.
The combined turntable and motor weight must remain within the selected zaZen capacity.
Valve Amplifiers
The zaZen Series can also support compatible valve amplifiers within its size and weight limits.
Valves and internal components may respond to mechanical vibration, while a stable isolated base can help reduce energy reaching the chassis through the equipment rack.
Ventilation remains essential. The platform must not block cooling openings, and all clearance recommendations supplied by the amplifier manufacturer must be followed.
Other Sensitive Hi-Fi Components
zaZen may also be used beneath compatible CD players, streamers, DACs, preamplifiers, power supplies and other audio equipment.
The component must fit safely, remain within the selected weight limit and receive all required ventilation.
For small and lightweight equipment, individual OREA isolators may provide a more compact alternative.
No Height or Levelling Adjustment
zaZen platforms do not include adjustable feet or an independent levelling mechanism.
The rack, shelf or item of furniture must therefore be level before the platform is installed.
After positioning a turntable, check the platter or plinth using a suitable spirit level and use only the turntable manufacturer’s approved adjustment method where correction is required.
Installation Guide
