Rega Planar Turntable Wall Bracket

Rega Planar Turntable Wall Bracket

Audio T Verdict

The Rega Planar Turntable Wall Bracket provides a rigid, lightweight support for the Planar 1, Planar 2, Planar 3, Planar 6 and many earlier Rega turntables.

Mounting a turntable to a structurally suitable wall can substantially reduce the effect of springy floors, footfall and vibration travelling through an equipment rack.

Its 3 mm folded aluminium construction follows Rega's preference for high rigidity with low mass. Fine adjustment also helps establish a level support where the wall surface is slightly uneven.

This is not the correct bracket for the current skeletal Planar 8, Planar 10 or Naia. Those models require Rega's smaller dedicated wall bracket.

Rega Planar Turntable Wall Bracket

The Rega Planar Turntable Wall Bracket is a purpose-designed support for current full-width Rega turntables and many earlier models.

Manufactured from 3 mm laser-cut and folded aluminium, the current design is 1.2 kg lighter and more rigid than its predecessor.

By fixing the turntable support to a suitable wall, the bracket separates the deck from floor-standing furniture and reduces one of the principal routes through which unwanted vibration can reach the cartridge.

It is available in black or white and includes adjustment to help achieve a level installation on a slightly uneven wall.

Please Confirm Compatibility Before Ordering

Rega has used similar model names across several generations, and some older turntables require separate mounting adaptors.

Contact your local Audio T store with the exact model and approximate age of your turntable if you are unsure which bracket or adaptor set is required.

Compatible Current Rega Turntables

Rega Planar 1

The Rega Planar 1 can benefit from wall mounting where an equipment rack is affected by footfall or flexible flooring.

Rega Planar 2

The Rega Planar 2 fits directly onto the standard bracket without additional adaptors.

Rega Planar 3

The Rega Planar 3 is directly compatible with the bracket.

Rega Planar 6

The Rega Planar 6 also uses the standard bracket and does not require the RP6 adaptor set.

Planar 8, Planar 10 and Naia

The current Planar 8, Planar 10 and Naia use compact skeletal plinths and require a smaller purpose-built support.

Use the Rega Planar 8/10/Naia Wall Bracket for these models.

The older RP8 and RP10 are different designs and can be used with this standard bracket when the appropriate optional adaptors are fitted.

Why Mount a Turntable on the Wall?

A cartridge is designed to detect tiny movements of the stylus within a record groove. It may also respond to unwanted movement reaching the turntable through the floor and furniture.

Common causes include:

  • Footfall on suspended wooden floors
  • Movement within lightweight equipment racks
  • Vibration from loudspeakers and subwoofers
  • Doors closing nearby
  • Children or pets moving around the room

A wall bracket gives the turntable a separate structural reference from the floor. This can be particularly helpful where a turntable skips or the tonearm moves when somebody walks nearby.

Reducing Turntable Feedback

Loudspeakers and subwoofers can transmit low-frequency energy through the floor and equipment furniture.

If this movement reaches the cartridge, it can be amplified by the system and create a feedback loop, often heard as a low-frequency rumble or rapidly increasing bass noise.

Wall mounting can reduce vibration travelling through the floor and rack, although loudspeaker positioning, subwoofer level and airborne energy may still need attention.

Lightweight and Rigid Construction

The bracket is manufactured from a single 3 mm aluminium structure which is laser cut and folded to provide additional rigidity.

Rega has reduced the weight by 1.2 kg compared with the previous wall bracket while increasing structural stiffness.

The current bracket itself weighs 1.0 kg, making it considerably lighter than many conventional wall-mounted turntable shelves.

Adjustable for Uneven Walls

Fine adjustment allows the bracket to be levelled where the wall surface is not completely flat.

This adjustment should be used only after the main structure has been fixed securely to a suitable wall.

It cannot compensate for inappropriate fixings, loose plaster, a weak wall or an incorrectly positioned mounting point.

Choosing the Installation Position

Before installation, consider:

  • The construction and condition of the wall
  • The finished height of the platter and tonearm
  • Clearance above the turntable for changing records
  • Space required to open or remove the dustcover
  • The length of the turntable's signal cable
  • The position of the amplifier or phono stage
  • The power cable or external turntable power supply
  • Nearby radiators, direct sunlight and moisture

The tonearm cable and power lead should reach their destination without being stretched or placing strain on the turntable connections.

Secure Wall Installation Is Essential

The bracket must be fixed to a structurally suitable wall using fixings appropriate for the wall construction and the combined load of the bracket and turntable.

Plasterboard alone should not automatically be assumed to provide adequate support. Structural timber, masonry or suitable reinforcement may be required.

Concealed electrical cables, water pipes and other services must be checked before drilling. Installation should be completed by a competent person.

Black or White Finish

Black Finish

A discreet choice for darker turntables, equipment and room furnishings.

White Finish

Designed to blend more naturally with pale walls or complement a white Rega turntable.

Finish choice does not affect construction, compatibility or performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which current Rega turntables fit this bracket?

Rega lists the Planar 1, Planar 2, Planar 3 and Planar 6 as directly compatible.

Does it fit the Rega Planar 1 Plus?

Rega does not specifically list the Planar 1 Plus on its compatibility page. Contact Audio T with the exact version before ordering.

Does it fit the Rega RP6?

Yes, when the separately available Rega wall-bracket adaptors are fitted.

Does it fit the older Rega RP8 or RP10?

Yes. The RP8 and RP10 can be mounted using the optional screw-fit adaptor set.

Does it fit the current Planar 8 or Planar 10?

No. These skeletal models require the smaller dedicated Planar 8/10/Naia Wall Bracket.

Does it fit the Rega Naia?

No. The Naia uses the dedicated skeletal-turntable wall bracket.

Are the RP6, RP8 and RP10 adaptors included?

No. The machined aluminium adaptor set is sold separately.

Can it help stop footfall causing the stylus to skip?

It can substantially reduce vibration reaching the turntable through a suspended floor and equipment rack, provided it is fitted securely to a suitable wall.

Can it help reduce turntable feedback?

It can reduce vibration travelling through the floor and furniture. Loudspeaker position, subwoofer level and airborne vibration may still affect the turntable.

Can it be fixed to plasterboard?

The complete wall structure must be assessed by a competent installer. Plasterboard alone should not automatically be treated as a suitable structural fixing point.

Can the bracket be levelled?

Yes. It includes fine adjustment to help compensate for a slightly uneven wall surface.

What are the dimensions?

The bracket measures 375 x 175 x 400 mm.

How much does it weigh?

Rega specifies a bracket weight of 1.0 kg.

Which finishes are available?

The bracket is available in black or white.

Can Audio T confirm compatibility?

Yes. Contact your local Audio T store with the exact turntable model and approximate age so our staff can confirm which bracket and adaptors are required.
