Why Use a Dedicated Mono Cartridge?
A mono record contains a single signal cut laterally into the groove rather than the combination of lateral and vertical information used for stereo.
A stereo cartridge can certainly play a mono record, but it still responds to information from both groove planes and then reproduces those signals through separate left and right channels.
A dedicated mono cartridge is designed to retrieve the mono information as one unified signal.
A More Stable Mono Image
With the same signal feeding both channels, mono playback can become more solid and focused through the centre of the system.
Voices and instruments recorded in mono aren't supposed to occupy a stereo soundstage. Instead, the performance should lock together as one coherent presentation.

Pure 4-Nines Silver Coils
The current MC Quintet Mono uses pure 4-nines silver coil wire.

Don't Deliberately Under-Track

What About 78rpm Records?
