Audio T Verdict
The Little Fwend Disco Mk3 adds a useful convenience to a compatible manual Technics turntable: it lifts the stylus clear when a record side finishes. Its compact mechanical design suits listeners who enjoy the hands-on nature of vinyl but would welcome help at the end of an album. Careful fitting and a quick reset before each side are part of the routine.
Little Fwend Disco Mk3 Automatic Tonearm Lifter
The Disco Mk3 is a dedicated end-of-record tonearm lifter for compatible Technics SL-1200, SL-1210 and SL-1300G turntables. Positioned beneath the tonearm, it responds as the arm reaches the run-out area and raises the stylus off the record. It is a practical addition if a phone call, the doorbell or another distraction occasionally keeps you from returning to the turntable when the music ends.
Mechanical Operation, Without an Extra Power Supply
Little Fwend operates entirely mechanically, so there are no batteries to replace, mains connections to find or audio cables to reroute. The tonearm meets a lightly loaded trigger antenna, releasing the lifting mechanism. The device sits outside the electrical signal path between your cartridge and phono stage. Its purpose is convenience and reduced unnecessary time in the run-out groove; your existing turntable, cartridge and amplification continue to handle music playback.
Automatic Lift, with Manual Return and Switch-Off
The Disco Mk3 raises the tonearm at the end of a side. You still return the arm to its rest and switch off the turntable yourself. Reset the trigger antenna before playing the next side so the lifter is ready to operate again.
Designed Around the Technics Armboard
The Disco version is shaped for the mounting area beside the original Technics tonearm. Little Fwend's compatibility guide identifies the following models for the Disco lifter:
SL-1200 and SL-1210 Classics
Technics SL-1200 and SL-1210 models from Mk2 through Mk7, using the original compatible tonearm arrangement.
Current and Premium Technics Models
SL-1200/SL-1210 G, GR, GR2, GAE and GME variants, plus the SL-1300G.
Check your exact deck against Little Fwend's turntable compatibility guide. Replacement tonearms, thicker mats and other changes can alter the available clearance, so please contact your local Audio T store if your turntable has been modified.
Precision Machining and Individual Assembly
The current Mk3 description specifies solid stainless steel with a glass-blasted finish. Its parts are machined in Switzerland, with design, hand assembly and individual tuning carried out by Lasse and Jeremy in Oslo, Norway. This attention to the small mechanism matters in an accessory that must respond to the tonearm's movement and raise it in a controlled way.
Magnetic Mounting and Adjustable Setup
The lifter attaches magnetically to a mounting platform secured to the Technics armboard with adhesive. You can remove the body for adjustment without repeatedly peeling the platform away from the turntable. Height and trigger position are adjustable to suit the installation.
Take Time to Check the Trigger Position
Follow the official Disco mounting instructions, then test operation from the end of the final track. Check that the arm remains clear of the lifting beam during playback and that lifting begins after the music finishes. Different run-out layouts may need a small trigger adjustment.
