Audio T Verdict
The Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2 takes the already capable DMP-A6 platform and concentrates its upgrades where they matter most: clocking, analogue output circuitry and measured performance.
Dual femtosecond clocks and an upgraded OPA1612 operational-amplifier array complement the twin ESS ES9038Q2M DACs, fully balanced signal path and low-noise linear power supply.
It remains exceptionally flexible, combining high-resolution streaming, local music-library management, room correction, HDMI ARC, balanced and unbalanced pre-amplifier outputs, extensive digital connectivity and an internal SSD option.
The Master Edition is most compelling for a revealing system where its improved analogue output stage can be appreciated. It does not include power amplification, a headphone socket or conventional analogue inputs, but as a premium digital source and system controller it offers a great deal for the money.
Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2
The Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2 is a high-resolution network music streamer, DAC, digital pre-amplifier and local music server housed within a compact aluminium chassis.
It can stream from compatible online services, play music held on network and USB storage, manage a locally installed SSD library and receive digital audio from computers, televisions, CD transports and other suitable sources.
Fixed or variable XLR and RCA outputs allow it to connect to an integrated amplifier, pre-amplifier, power amplifier or active loudspeakers. USB, optical, coaxial and HDMI digital outputs also allow it to work as a dedicated streaming transport.
An Amplifier or Active Loudspeakers Are Required
The DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2 does not contain a speaker-level power amplifier and cannot drive passive loudspeakers directly.
Connect it to an integrated amplifier, a suitable pre and power amplifier combination, a power amplifier or active loudspeakers.

Dual Femtosecond Audio Clocks
Two ultra-low phase-noise femtosecond clocks manage the timing of digital audio signals.
Accurate clocking helps reduce timing uncertainty, commonly described as jitter, before the digital signal reaches the conversion and analogue output stages.
This upgrade is intended to provide a more stable foundation for the dual DAC architecture, particularly when the Eversolo is used through its own analogue outputs.
OPA1612 Operational-Amplifier Array
The Master Edition uses an array of Texas Instruments OPA1612 operational amplifiers within its analogue output stage.
Eversolo specifies extremely low noise and distortion for these components, helping the analogue circuit preserve low-level detail after digital-to-analogue conversion.
This is one of the most important differences between the Master Edition and the standard DMP-A6 Gen 2.
Dual ESS ES9038Q2M DACs
Two ESS Sabre ES9038Q2M digital-to-analogue converters are used, with independent DAC processing for the left and right channels.
The dual-DAC configuration is partnered with a fully balanced circuit architecture extending through to the XLR analogue outputs.
Compatible stereo audio can be decoded at up to 32-bit/768kHz PCM and native DSD512 through supported playback and input routes.
Maximum Resolution Depends on the Connection
The maximum 32-bit/768kHz PCM and native DSD512 figures apply to compatible local playback, USB audio and supported digital paths.
Optical, coaxial and HDMI ARC connections have lower limits, while streaming quality depends on the selected service, subscription and recording.
Improved Analogue Output Performance
The Master Edition's upgraded clocks and OPA1612 circuitry provide improved measured performance compared with the standard model.
The balanced XLR outputs are specified with a dynamic range and signal-to-noise ratio above 128dB, THD+N below 0.000087% and crosstalk better than 125dB.
The RCA outputs are specified with a dynamic range and signal-to-noise ratio above 125dB and THD+N below 0.0001%.
Measurements do not describe the complete listening experience, but they demonstrate the low noise and distortion available from the Master Edition's analogue output stage.
Fully Balanced Circuit Architecture
The analogue signal path is fully balanced from digital conversion through to the XLR outputs.
Balanced connections can provide improved resistance to interference, particularly with longer interconnects or equipment installed close to network hardware and mains cabling.
Conventional RCA outputs remain available for amplifiers and active loudspeakers without balanced inputs.
Low-Noise Linear Power Supply
A linear power supply provides clean and stable power to the audio circuitry.
Eversolo specifies a power-supply noise level below 40 microvolts, helping to minimise electrical interference within the DAC, clock and analogue sections.
Separate filtering and regulation support the player's audio, processing, storage and control systems.
Aluminium Chassis
The cabinet is constructed from CNC-machined aluminium to provide a rigid and well-shielded enclosure for the internal electronics.
Its compact 270mm width makes it easier to accommodate than a conventional full-width Hi-Fi component.
Black and Silver finish options allow it to match a broader selection of amplifiers, active speakers and furniture.
Six-Inch Colour Touchscreen
The 6-inch LCD touchscreen provides direct access to streaming services, music libraries, inputs, outputs, playlists and system settings.
Album artwork, track details, file format and sample rate can be displayed during playback.
A selection of playback screens and digital VU meter designs allows the appearance to be personalised.
The display makes the DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2 practical as a self-contained music player rather than relying entirely on a phone or tablet.
Illuminated Multifunction Control
A multifunction volume and control knob sits alongside the touchscreen.
The Master Edition adds a dynamic illuminated surround that distinguishes it visually from the standard DMP-A6 Gen 2.
Screen and control brightness can be adjusted to suit daylight, evening or display-free listening.
Fixed or Variable Analogue Output
The XLR and RCA outputs can operate at a fixed level when connected to an integrated amplifier or pre-amplifier with its own volume control.
Variable output allows the Eversolo to operate as a digital pre-amplifier connected directly to a suitable power amplifier or pair of active loudspeakers.
Eversolo's EVC volume-control engine is designed to provide precise adjustment while preserving the integrity of the audio signal.
Check Volume Before Connecting a Power Amplifier
Begin with a low variable-output setting whenever the Eversolo is connected directly to a power amplifier or active loudspeakers.
Fixed output can produce a high listening level and should only be selected when another component provides safe volume control.
Balanced XLR Outputs
The balanced XLR outputs provide a maximum output level of 5.2V.
They are particularly suitable for compatible balanced integrated amplifiers, power amplifiers and active loudspeakers.
Using XLR does not automatically guarantee better sound, so the genuine input design and performance of the connected equipment should also be considered.
Unbalanced RCA Outputs
The RCA outputs provide a maximum level of 2.6V.
They provide straightforward compatibility with the majority of conventional integrated amplifiers, pre-amplifiers and active loudspeakers.
Fixed and variable operation is available through both the RCA and XLR output routes.
Eversolo EOS Audio Engine
The Eversolo Original Sampling-rate Audio Engine, known as EOS, is designed to bypass conventional Android sample-rate conversion.
This allows compatible local files and music applications to retain their original sampling rate through the Eversolo audio path.
The result is a more consistent high-resolution playback system across local music and supported integrated applications.
Streaming Services
The Eversolo platform provides direct access to a wide selection of compatible streaming and internet-radio services.
Current services include TIDAL, Qobuz, Amazon Music, Apple Music, HIGHRESAUDIO, Presto Music, IDAGIO, Deezer, SoundCloud, TuneIn, Radio Paradise and Calm Radio.
Availability, features and maximum playback quality can vary by region, subscription, firmware and service provider.
Spotify, TIDAL and Qobuz Connect
Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect and Qobuz Connect allow music to be selected through the service's own app while the Eversolo receives the stream directly over the network.
Qobuz Connect supports compatible lossless and high-resolution playback up to 24-bit/192kHz.
Spotify Connect Lossless supports compatible playback at up to 24-bit/44.1kHz where the Spotify account, recording and service provide it.
Apple Music Integration
Apple Music is available through Eversolo's integrated application and EOS audio platform.
This provides access to compatible Apple Music content through the player without relying entirely on Bluetooth playback from a phone or tablet.
Apple account, service and regional requirements still apply.
Roon Ready
Roon Ready certification allows the DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2 to operate as a recognised network endpoint within a compatible Roon system.
Roon combines local music and supported streaming services into a unified library with detailed metadata, recommendations and multiroom control.
A separate Roon Server and appropriate Roon subscription are required.
Local Music-Library Management
Music held on an internal SSD, USB storage, network share or compatible cloud service can be indexed into Eversolo's library interface.
Compatible metadata allows music to be organised by artist, album, composer, genre, format and sample rate.
Search, favourites, playlists and cross-service queues make it possible to manage local music and supported streaming services from one interface.
Internal M.2 NVMe SSD Storage
An internal M.2 NVMe 2280 slot allows a compatible solid-state drive to be installed for local music storage.
Eversolo currently lists support for suitable SSDs with capacities up to 8TB.
Internal storage keeps a substantial music collection within the player without leaving an external USB drive permanently connected.
The SSD Is Not Included
A compatible M.2 NVMe SSD must be purchased and installed separately.
Confirm the drive format, physical size, capacity and installation requirements before purchasing storage.
USB Storage
Two USB 3.0 host connections support compatible external hard drives, SSDs, memory sticks and accessories.
Music held on a USB drive can be played directly or indexed into the Eversolo music library.
Larger external drives may require their own power supply if their power demand exceeds the USB connection's available output.
NAS, Network and Cloud Storage
The player can access compatible computers, music servers and NAS drives using protocols including SMB, NFS, UPnP and WebDAV.
Compatible cloud and media platforms include Dropbox, OneDrive, Plex and Emby.
Network permissions, folder sharing and login details must be configured correctly before remote music can be scanned.
External USB CD Drive Support
A compatible external USB optical drive can be used for CD playback and music ripping.
Ripped music can be saved to an installed SSD or another suitable storage device and added to the Eversolo library.
Compatibility, metadata results and available ripping formats can depend on the connected drive and current firmware.
No CD Mechanism Is Built In
The DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2 does not contain an internal CD transport.
CD playback and ripping require a separately purchased compatible USB optical drive.
USB Audio Input
A compatible Windows computer, Mac, Android device or Apple device can use the Eversolo as an external USB DAC.
USB audio supports compatible PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz, native DSD512 and MQA.
Windows systems require the appropriate Eversolo driver for advanced ASIO and WASAPI operation.
Optical and Coaxial Digital Inputs
Optical and coaxial inputs allow a compatible CD transport, television, games console or other digital source to use the Eversolo's internal DAC and pre-amplifier.
These connections support compatible stereo PCM at up to 24-bit/192kHz, DoP64 and MQA.
The source should be set to a compatible two-channel digital output format.
HDMI ARC for Television Sound

Television programmes, films and games can then use the Master Edition's DAC, room correction, volume control and connected stereo system.
HDMI ARC accepts compatible stereo PCM at up to 24-bit/192kHz.
HDMI ARC Is Stereo Rather Than Surround
The HDMI ARC input is specified for stereo PCM and does not turn the Eversolo into a Dolby Atmos or multichannel AV receiver.
Set the television's digital audio output to PCM or stereo if no sound is heard.
USB Digital Audio Output
A compatible external USB DAC can be connected when the Eversolo is used as a streaming transport and library controller.
USB output supports compatible native DSD512, PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and MQA.
The selected external DAC must support the chosen format and sample rate.
Optical and Coaxial Digital Outputs
Optical and coaxial outputs allow the player to feed an amplifier, receiver or external DAC with a suitable digital input.
Both support compatible stereo PCM at up to 24-bit/192kHz, DoP64 and MQA.
These connections provide a useful route for comparing the Eversolo's internal DAC with an existing converter.
HDMI Multichannel Audio Output
A separate HDMI audio output can send compatible digital audio to an AV receiver, surround processor or other suitable HDMI audio device.
It supports compatible multichannel PCM at up to 192kHz and native DSD64, with configurations up to 5.1 channels.
This output is separate from the HDMI ARC connection used to receive stereo television sound.
HDMI Audio Output Is Not an HDMI Video Switcher
The DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2 is an audio player rather than a conventional AV receiver or HDMI video selector.
Confirm compatibility with the connected AV receiver or processor before relying on multichannel DSD or PCM playback.
Room Correction
Current Eversolo software provides room correction for the DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2.
Measurements can be completed using a compatible phone or supported external measurement microphone.
The resulting correction profile can reduce frequency-response peaks caused by room dimensions, loudspeaker placement and nearby boundaries.
Room Correction Does Not Replace Good Setup
Digital correction cannot fully compensate for unsuitable loudspeakers, extreme room problems or poor speaker placement.
Finalise the loudspeaker and listening positions before carrying out measurements.
Graphic and Parametric EQ
Multi-band graphic and parametric equalisation provides detailed control over tonal balance.
Independent left and right channel adjustment can help compensate for an uneven or asymmetrical listening environment.
EQ and room correction alter the audio signal and can be disabled when an unprocessed output is preferred.
Bluetooth 5.0 Input
Bluetooth 5.0 allows compatible phones, tablets and computers to play directly through the Eversolo.
SBC and AAC codecs are supported.
Bluetooth is convenient for guests and occasional listening, although Ethernet or Wi-Fi will normally provide better quality and greater functionality.
Bluetooth Is an Audio Input
The published specification describes Bluetooth reception from a phone, tablet or computer.
Bluetooth transmission to wireless headphones or speakers should not be assumed.
Gigabit Ethernet and Dual-Band Wi-Fi
The RJ45 network connection supports 10, 100 and 1000Mbps Ethernet.
Dual-band Wi-Fi supports compatible 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless networks.
Ethernet is normally preferable for very large libraries, high-resolution streaming and networks where Wi-Fi is congested or unreliable.
Wake-on-LAN and 12V Trigger
Wake-on-LAN allows the player to be activated through a compatible network when the required settings are enabled.
A 12V trigger output can switch a compatible power amplifier or other suitable component on and off with the Eversolo.
A trigger cable is included, although compatibility with the connected product should be confirmed.
No Conventional Analogue Input
The DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2 provides network, Bluetooth, USB, HDMI ARC, optical and coaxial audio inputs.
It does not include a conventional RCA or XLR analogue line input.
Analogue sources such as a tuner, cassette deck or phono stage must connect to a separate amplifier, pre-amplifier or suitable analogue-to-digital converter.
No Phono Stage
A turntable cannot connect directly to the DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2.
Connect the turntable and appropriate phono stage to a suitable amplifier, or use a compatible analogue-to-digital converter if the source must enter the Eversolo system.
No Headphone Output
The DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2 does not include a front or rear headphone socket.
Headphone listening requires a separate headphone amplifier connected to the RCA, XLR or a compatible digital output.
