Little Fwend Low Mk2 Automatic Tonearm Lifter

Audio T Verdict

The Little Fwend Low Mk2 adds automatic end-of-side lifting to a suitable manual turntable. It is a useful everyday accessory if you occasionally get distracted when a record finishes, helping keep the stylus out of the run-out groove until you return. Its adjustable height and magnetic mounting make careful setup straightforward, provided your deck has the necessary space.

Little Fwend Low Mk2 Automatic Tonearm Lifter

The Low Mk2 is designed for compatible turntables with conventional platter heights, including selected models from Rega, Pro-Ject, Linn, Thorens and MoFi. As the tonearm reaches the end of a record side, it meets the trigger antenna and releases the lifting mechanism, raising the stylus clear of the playing surface.

Entirely Mechanical Operation

There are no batteries to charge, mains connections to find or electrical controls to configure. Little Fwend works mechanically and sits outside the audio signal path, so your existing cartridge and phono-stage connections stay as they are. Once correctly positioned, it waits beneath the arm until the end of the side. That makes it a convenient addition when a phone call, a visitor or another distraction takes your attention away from the music.

Automatic Lifting, with Manual Return and Switch-Off

The Low Mk2 lifts the tonearm when a side ends. You still return the arm to its rest and switch off the turntable yourself. Reset the trigger antenna before playing each side so the mechanism is ready to operate.

Will the Low Mk2 Fit Your Turntable?

Check both the mounting space and the height beneath the arm. The name on the turntable alone is not enough, particularly if the cartridge, mat, platter or tonearm has been changed.

32–49mm Height Range

Measure from the intended mounting surface to the underside of the tonearm with the stylus in the groove. The Low Mk2 suits a measurement between 32mm and 49mm.

Clear Mounting Area

Allow a flat, unobstructed mounting area of approximately 28mm diameter between the platter and tonearm base, beneath the arm near the run-out position.

Use Little Fwend's compatibility list and printable height gauge to check your installation. Print the gauge at 100% scale. The manufacturer lists the Low version for the Linn LP12, Rega Planar 2, Planar 3 and Planar 6, Pro-Ject T2 Super Phono and Michell GyroDec, among others. Confirm the exact model and configuration before ordering.

Rega Planar 8, Planar 10 and Naia Owners

These skeletal-plinth installations require the separate Little Fwend P8/P10Mount to provide a suitable mounting platform. It is not included with the standard Low Mk2. Ask Audio T about the correct combination for your turntable.

Stainless Steel, Machined in Switzerland

The Mk2 replaces the original Low model and uses solid stainless steel with a glass-blasted finish. Parts are precision machined in Switzerland, with design, hand assembly and individual tuning carried out by Lasse and Jeremy in Oslo, Norway. The compact construction keeps the accessory discreet beside the platter while allowing adjustment for its position beneath the arm.

Magnetic Mounting for Easier Adjustment

The lifter attaches magnetically to a metal mounting disc on the turntable. You can lift the body away to adjust its height, then reposition it without repeatedly removing the disc. Rotating the body on the disc changes the trigger position. The fitting kit also provides a non-adhesive mounting option, described in the manufacturer's instructions.

Check the Setup Before Regular Use

Follow the official Low/High mounting instructions. Set the lifting beam clear of the arm during playback, then test from the end of the final track. Confirm that the music finishes before the lifter operates, and readjust the trigger position when needed for a different run-out layout.

Low Mk2 or High Mk2?

Choose Low Mk2 for 32–49mm

The Low Mk2 covers the standard 32–49mm mounting-height range. Choose it when the measurements and mounting area suit your deck.

Choose High Mk2 for Greater Reach

The High Mk2 adds two magnetic extender bases, extending the adjustable range to 32–94mm for installations needing more height.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the Low Mk2 fit every Rega or Pro-Ject turntable?
