DALI SONIK 1 Compact Bookshelf Speakers
The DALI SONIK 1 are compact passive speakers designed for music, television and home cinema systems in smaller rooms.
Each cabinet contains one 5¼-inch Clarity Cone SMC bass and midrange driver, one 29mm soft-dome tweeter and a rear bass-reflex port.
The speakers are supplied as a stereo pair and can be positioned on stands, shelves or suitable furniture. An integrated rear bracket also supports wall mounting.
A Separate Amplifier Is Required

Ultra-Compact Design
Measuring just 274mm high and 162mm wide, the SONIK 1 are among the easiest speakers in the DALI range to accommodate.
Their compact cabinets make them particularly suitable for bedrooms, studies, smaller living rooms and secondary systems where a larger standmount or floorstanding speaker would be impractical.
Despite their size, the 5¼-inch driver and bass-reflex enclosure provide useful weight and scale, with a specified frequency response extending down to 51Hz.
Clarity Cone Paper and Wood-Fibre Driver
The bass and midrange diaphragm combines fine paper pulp with reinforcing wood fibres.
DALI's Clarity Cone profile is designed to increase rigidity and control unwanted resonances while retaining the low mass and natural damping of the cone material.
This helps voices and instruments remain clear and uncoloured as the driver approaches its 2,800Hz crossover with the tweeter.
SMC Essential Magnet System
The driver uses DALI's patented Soft Magnetic Composite material within a hybrid iron and SMC pole piece.
Placing SMC within the voice coil's working area helps reduce magnetic hysteresis and eddy currents that can contribute to distortion and uneven driver behaviour.
The result is cleaner detail and a more relaxed, natural midrange presentation.
29mm Low-Loss Soft-Dome Tweeter
A 29mm soft-dome tweeter handles the high frequencies.
Its oversized, ultra-light textile diaphragm provides a broad working range and helps create a smooth transition from the Clarity Cone driver.

Bass-Reflex Cabinet
The SONIK 1 use a rear bass-reflex port tuned to 51Hz.
The port uses acoustic energy from inside the cabinet to reinforce the lower frequencies, helping the compact speaker provide fuller bass than a similarly sized sealed design.
The port should remain clear of curtains, books and other objects that could restrict airflow.
Stand and Shelf Placement
A suitable speaker stand will normally provide the greatest positioning freedom and place the tweeters close to seated ear height.
The SONIK 1 can also be used on sturdy shelves or furniture. Supplied rubber feet and pads help provide a stable surface and reduce direct vibration.
DALI recommends positioning the speakers between 1cm and 50cm from the rear wall. Moving them closer to the wall will usually increase perceived bass, while additional space may improve definition.
Begin with the Speakers Facing Straight Ahead
DALI's Wide Dispersion Sound Principle is designed to work with the speakers broadly parallel with the wall behind them rather than angled sharply towards the listener.
Small adjustments can still be tried to suit the room, speaker spacing and preferred stereo presentation.
Integrated Wall-Mounting Bracket
An integrated bracket on the rear of each cabinet allows the SONIK 1 to be mounted directly onto a suitable wall fixing.
For wall installation, the supplied rubber feet should be fitted to the rear cabinet edges to provide spacing and protect the wall surface.
Use a Suitable Wall Fixing
The fixing must be appropriate for the wall construction and capable of supporting a 4.1kg speaker safely.
Check for concealed electrical cables, pipes and other services before drilling. Professional installation is recommended whenever there is uncertainty.
Amplifier Matching
The SONIK 1 have a sensitivity of 86dB, a nominal impedance of 6 ohms and a recommended amplifier range of 25W to 100W.
They are compatible with many compact integrated and streaming amplifiers, although amplifier quality and clean power delivery remain more important than wattage alone.
