Michell Apollo Phono Stage & Muse Power Supply
Every component of the Apollo and Muse has been meticulously designed to do more than just preserve the music's fidelity—they breathe life into the performance. Every note, every nuance, and every emotion is conveyed with exceptional clarity, capturing the essence, atmosphere, and soul of the music. Beginning with the Muse power supply, which features a premium low-noise toroidal transformer, advanced capacitance multiplier technology, and high-quality voltage regulators, ripple and noise are minimised to deliver two highly filtered and regulated DC outputs.
The Apollo phono stage is equipped with an additional power supply circuit that further refines and regulates the incoming DC, ensuring the amplification stages receive a clean, stable power source. The Class A preamplifiers draw on technology used in professional microphone amplifiers—applications where pure amplification is crucial for handling ultra-low signal levels. The combination of these sensitive amplifiers, a finely tuned passive RIAA circuit, and regulation and feedback circuits throughout guarantees exceptional and consistent performance.
To provide maximum compatibility with both MM and MC cartridges, the Apollo features customisable load and gain settings, adjustable through a bank of DIP switches located on the underside of the enclosure.
The smooth DC supply is delivered to the Apollo via a specially developed link cable that not only provides a physical separation between the two enclosures but is also engineered to reject external noise. High-quality silver-plated OFC copper conductors, FEP insulation, and AL-foil Mylar separators work together to ensure the cable delivers an ultra-pure power supply.
The engineers' dedication to noise reduction led to the creation of the two-box design. Each enclosure is precision-machined in the UK by Michell from solid aluminum, forming a tight-fitting clam-shell structure that functions as a Faraday cage. This design keeps any unwanted electrical noise from the Muse PSU contained while preventing external noise from entering the Apollo.
Key Features:
- The inbuilt power supply circuitry works in harmony with the MUSE power supply to further refine and regulate the DC power
- High-Quality class A preamplifiers ensure precise signal handling
- Passive RIAA Circuit
- Class A Gain Stages
- Customisable loading and gain settings.
- MUSE uses a high-quality low noise toroidal transformer, advanced capacitance multiplier technology and very high-quality voltage regulators, to reduce ripple and noise, delivering two highly filtered and regulated DC outputs.
- Dual Filtration: It works in harmony with APOLLO's internal power supply for superior filtering and regulation.
- Noise Isolation: By housing the transformer separately in MUSE, any noise generation is isolated from the amplification circuits.
