Hana S MKII Shibata Moving Coil Cartridge
The SL MK II features enhancements designed to improve musical performance while delivering exceptional value within the S Series price range. A newly designed tapered aluminium cantilever with increased rigidity significantly boosts the transfer of groove modulation from vinyl records to the cartridge generator. The S Series Mk II includes many high-spec components, advanced materials, and innovative technical processes inspired by Hana’s premium elite cartridge models, contributing to their renowned “brilliant and gorgeous” sound.
The HANA-SL MkII is the low output moving coil cartridge option Low output
option, with Micro-line stylus profile. This cartridge is designed to
be used with a MC phono stage or MC step-up device + MM phono stage.
The HANA-SH MkII is the High output moving coil cartridge option, with
Micro-line stylus profile. This cartridge is designed to be used with a
MM (moving magnet) phono stage, so without investing in a new moving
coil step up transformer, or MC phono stage, the seductive sound of
moving coils are available through your moving magnet phono stage.
Key Features - New MKII:
- A new tapered aluminium cantilever with increased rigidity and effective mass reduction at the nude diamond Shibata stylus tip.
- Non-resonant body shape, modelled after the Hana M series.
- Damped with a matte soft feel black elastomeric resin paint.
- Brass top to body for resonance reduction.
- Internally threaded cartridge mounting.
Essential components such as the yoke, pole pieces, and gold terminal pins undergo cryogenic treatment to enhance sound quality. The non-resonant body shape, inspired by the Hana M Series, is coated with a matte Soft Feel Black elastomeric resin and features a brass top cap with integrated threaded mounting for the cartridge. The heavier Mk II cartridge ensures better coupling, enhancing bass and dynamics while expanding compatibility across a wider range of tonearms.
The SL MK II generator, also found in the Umami Blue and ML models, utilises an Alnico magnet and cross-coil design. It employs high-purity 30-micron copper wire with an 8O impedance, resulting in improved signal-to-noise ratio and reduced moving mass. These refined design features provide greater resolution and accuracy, optimising performance for a wider array of phono stages.
