The Roksan Caspian 4G Integrated Amplifier is a substantial step above the Attessa range, combining greater power, more ambitious construction, balanced analogue connectivity and far more flexible output configuration within one elegant stereo amplifier.
Its minimalist exterior hides a serious dual-mono Class A/B design. The Euphoria amplifier architecture delivers 105W per channel into 8 ohms and 200W per channel into 4 ohms, with both channels driven at the published output condition.
This is not power for the sake of an impressive specification. The Caspian has the headroom and current delivery needed to control a wide selection of high-quality standmount and floorstanding loudspeakers, particularly in medium and larger rooms where a smaller amplifier may begin to sound compressed.
The presentation has the weight and authority long associated with Roksan, but the Caspian 4G is not simply a forceful amplifier. Its control, low noise and consistency across the volume range allow voices, instruments and quieter musical details to remain clear and properly organised.
A large 600VA power supply and extensive reservoir capacitance support the two amplifier channels. Roksan describes the architecture as dual mono, with independent amplification intended to improve separation, stability and dynamic performance.
Digital sources are handled by Roksan’s dual-mono balanced Rapture DAC. Two coaxial and two optical inputs accommodate CD transports, streamers, televisions and other compatible digital sources without requiring an external converter.
The coaxial inputs accept stereo PCM up to 24-bit/192kHz, while optical inputs support up to 24-bit/96kHz. Dolby Digital, DTS and other multichannel bitstream formats must be converted to two-channel PCM by the source.
Analogue connectivity is equally comprehensive. Two RCA inputs are joined by a balanced XLR input, making the Caspian suitable for sources with conventional or balanced analogue outputs.
A moving-magnet phono stage is built in and includes three gain settings. This allows cartridges with different output levels to be matched more closely with the amplifier’s other sources.
Despite some conflicting figures appearing in the wider technical material, the current Roksan manual identifies the internal phono stage as moving magnet only. A low-output moving-coil cartridge therefore requires a suitable external phono stage connected to one of the line inputs.
The output section is unusually flexible. Balanced XLR and RCA pre-outputs can feed external power amplifiers, while a third RCA output can be configured as a full-range pre-output, fixed-level line output, filtered subwoofer output or part of a saved loudspeaker profile.
MaestroUnite allows a 2.1 system to be configured with independent high-pass and low-pass filters. Removing deep bass from the main speakers can improve integration with a subwoofer and reduce the low-frequency demands placed on the amplifier and loudspeakers.

Bluetooth provides a simple wireless connection for phones, tablets and computers, with SBC, AAC and aptX support. The Integrated Amplifier does not contain BluOS, AirPlay, Spotify Connect or independent network streaming.
Wi-Fi is included for MaestroUnite setup and firmware updates only. Customers wanting streaming built directly into the amplifier should consider the Caspian 4G Streaming Amplifier.

Does it have a balanced input?
Yes. One stereo balanced XLR input is provided alongside two RCA line inputs.
Can I connect a turntable directly?
Yes, when it uses a compatible moving-magnet cartridge and does not already produce line-level output.
Does it support moving-coil cartridges directly?
The current product manual describes the internal phono stage as moving magnet only. A moving-coil cartridge requires a suitable external phono stage.
Can the phono gain be adjusted?
Yes. Low, medium and high settings provide approximately -6dB, 0dB and +6dB adjustment.
Can I add a subwoofer?
Yes. Pre-Out 3 can be configured as a low-pass-filtered subwoofer output, with high-pass filtering also available for the main speakers.
Can the crossover be adjusted?
Yes. MaestroUnite provides crossover type, slope and frequency adjustment for a configured 2.1 system.
Can I add a separate power amplifier?
Yes. Balanced or RCA pre-outputs can be used for stereo pre-amplifier or bi-amplified operation.
Does it have a headphone socket?
No. A separate headphone amplifier can be connected to a suitably configured line or pre-output.
Can I connect the Attessa CD Transport?
Yes. Connect it to D1 through coaxial audio and add both products to the same MaestroUnite system.
What is Music Sense?
Music Sense allows the amplifier to wake automatically when a suitable signal is detected on analogue input A2.
What is AV Bypass?
It allows an AV receiver to control the Caspian when the amplifier powers the front left and right speakers of a home-cinema system.
Is a remote control included?
Yes. A 15-button aluminium-bodied infrared remote and two AAA batteries are supplied.
How much space should be left around the amplifier?
Roksan recommends at least 25mm of clear air space around it.
Can it be stacked with the matching power amplifier?
No. Roksan recommends placing the amplifiers on separate shelves or side by side.
