High-Resolution PC-USB Input
The rear USB Type-B input allows a Windows or Mac computer to use the RA-1592MKII as an external audio device. USB Audio Class 1 supports PCM playback at up to 24-bit/96kHz, while USB Audio Class 2 supports PCM at up to 32-bit/384kHz.
Windows computers require the appropriate Rotel driver for USB Audio Class 2 operation. Compatible Mac computers do not normally require an additional driver. The computer, operating system and playback software must also be configured to output the required resolution.
The front USB Type-A connection has a different purpose. It supports music playback from compatible iPhone, iPad and iPod devices and is not specified as a general input for USB storage drives.
MQA and MQA Studio Support
The RA-1592MKII can decode MQA and MQA Studio through its PC-USB input at resolutions up to 24-bit/384kHz. USB Audio Class 2 and the amplifier’s MQA/24B operating mode must be selected for MQA playback.
Selecting the alternative PCM 32B mode enables PCM-only operation at up to 32-bit/384kHz but disables MQA decoding. MQA compatibility does not provide a music service, so suitable source software and compatible material are still required.

Balanced XLR Input

Balanced connections can provide useful resistance to interference, particularly with longer cable runs, but they do not automatically guarantee better results with every source. The same source should not be connected to the RA-1592MKII through its RCA and XLR outputs simultaneously.
RCA Analogue Inputs

Two Mono Subwoofer Outputs
Two RCA subwoofer outputs allow one or two compatible active subwoofers to be connected. Both sockets carry the same summed mono signal created from the left and right channels; they are parallel outputs rather than independently configured subwoofer channels.
The amplifier does not provide an adjustable crossover or complete bass-management system. The main loudspeakers continue to receive their normal full-range signal, so crossover frequency, volume and phase should be adjusted using the controls on each subwoofer.

Headphone Output
A 3.5mm headphone socket is located on the front panel. Connecting headphones does not automatically mute the loudspeaker outputs, so Speaker A and Speaker B should be switched off manually when private listening is required.
The volume should be reduced before connecting or removing headphones, as headphone sensitivity can vary considerably between models.
Home-Theatre Bypass
The Aux RCA or balanced XLR input can be configured for home-theatre bypass. This allows a surround processor or AV receiver to control the volume of the front left and right channels while the RA-1592MKII powers the corresponding loudspeakers.
When the configured bypass source is selected, the amplifier’s normal volume control is disabled. The bypass gain can also be adjusted to assist with matching the front channels to the rest of the home-cinema system.
12V Bypass Activation Depends on Hardware Version
