Audio T Verdict
Chord Company PowerHAUS P6 is the entry point into the PowerHAUS mains distribution range, but it follows many of the same design principles as the considerably more ambitious S6 and M6.
Rather than filling the enclosure with switches, indicator lights and conventional series filters, Chord Company takes a deliberately simple approach. Six high-quality mains outlets are fed through carefully arranged heavy-gauge internal cabling, with ARAY-derived shielding and particular attention paid to the relationship between the live, neutral and earth wiring.
A heavy-duty 16A IEC input allows the P6 to supply a complete Hi-Fi or home-cinema system, while its solid aluminium enclosure provides substantial mechanical support for the internal construction.
Importantly, Chord Company does not put a conventional series filter in the power path. The manufacturer specifically avoids series filters, switches and neon indicators because it believes these can introduce noise or compromise system performance.
The result is a straightforward six-way distribution block whose job is not to regenerate the mains or impose a current-limiting filter, but to provide a carefully engineered power-distribution environment for the components connected to it.
