RoomPerfect is the real star, measuring how the loudspeakers interact with the room and reducing unwanted acoustic effects without deliberately changing their underlying character.
Google Cast, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Roon Ready, Bluetooth, internet radio and local network playback cover virtually every modern listening route.
It lacks the outright power, touchscreen and expanded connectivity of Lyngdorf’s larger models, but for a compact and beautifully integrated stereo system, the TDAI-1120 is exceptionally complete.
Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 Streaming Amplifier with RoomPerfect
The Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 is a compact two-channel streaming amplifier combining fully digital amplification, extensive music streaming, RoomPerfect room correction and flexible source connectivity.
It provides 60W per channel into 8-ohm loudspeakers and 120W per channel into 4-ohm loads, with a maximum output current of 30A.
An MM phono input, line-level analogue input, four conventional digital inputs and HDMI eARC allow it to become the control centre of a complete music and television system.
Loudspeakers Are Required
The TDAI-1120 contains amplification and music streaming, but it does not include loudspeakers.
Suitable passive loudspeakers and speaker cables will be required. An HDMI cable is also required when connecting a compatible television.
Fully Digital Amplification
TDAI stands for True Digital Amplifier Integrated.
Digital audio signals remain within the digital domain through the processing and volume-control stages, with the loudspeaker outputs driven directly by the amplifier’s digital switching architecture.
This removes several conversion stages and analogue signal paths found in conventional amplifier designs, helping reduce noise, crosstalk and distortion.
What Happens to Analogue Sources?
Signals from the phono and line-level inputs are converted into the digital domain so that RoomPerfect, Voicings, bass management and volume control can be applied.
60W into 8 Ohms and 120W into 4 Ohms
The TDAI-1120 is rated at 60W per channel into 8-ohm loudspeakers and 120W per channel into 4-ohm loads.
Its output stage can deliver up to 30A of current, giving the compact amplifier useful control over a wide range of sensibly matched loudspeakers.
For particularly large rooms, insensitive loudspeakers or consistently high listening levels, the more powerful TDAI-2210 or TDAI-3400 may be more appropriate.
Choose Loudspeakers Carefully
Amplifier power is only one part of system matching. Loudspeaker sensitivity, minimum impedance, room size, listening distance and preferred volume should all be considered.
RoomPerfect Room Correction
RoomPerfect measures the main listening position and several additional locations around the room to understand how the loudspeakers and room interact.
It is designed to reduce unwanted acoustic effects while preserving the intended tonal character of the loudspeakers rather than forcing them towards a generic target response.
The required RoomPerfect microphone, eight-metre balanced microphone cable and microphone stand are included.
Focus and Global Listening
Focus mode prioritises the calibrated main listening position for more precise listening from a chosen seat.
Global mode provides a more even result across a wider area, making it useful when several people are listening or music is playing throughout the room.
Additional Focus positions can be created for different seats or listening areas.
RoomPerfect Does Not Replace Good Setup
RoomPerfect can compensate for many room-related problems, but sensible loudspeaker placement, secure stands, suitable cables and correct system configuration remain important.
Integrated Bass Management
The TDAI-1120 includes digital crossover and delay controls for integrating one or two compatible subwoofers.
Low-pass frequency, filter type, level and distance can be configured within the setup interface before carrying out the RoomPerfect calibration.
The stereo analogue output can be assigned to a single subwoofer, stereo subwoofers or a full-range external amplifier according to the system.
Do Not Use a High-Level Subwoofer Connection
Lyngdorf specifically warns against connecting the TDAI-1120’s speaker terminals to a subwoofer’s high-level input.
Connect a suitable subwoofer through the configurable RCA analogue output instead.
32 Custom Voicings
The TDAI-1120 can store up to 32 adjustable Voicings for tailoring the overall tonal balance of the system.
Each Voicing can contain up to eight filters with adjustable frequency, gain and Q.
Different settings can be created for music, television, speech, late-night listening or individual recordings and sources.
RoomPerfect and Voicings Are Different
RoomPerfect addresses the interaction between the loudspeakers and the room.
Voicings apply deliberate tonal adjustments chosen by the listener after the room calibration has been completed.
Google Cast
Google Cast allows music to be selected within a compatible application and sent directly to the TDAI-1120 over the home network.
The phone or tablet acts as the controller, while the amplifier receives the audio stream through its own network connection.
Google Cast can also form part of a suitable multi-room system containing other compatible devices.
AirPlay 2
AirPlay 2 provides straightforward wireless playback from compatible Apple devices and applications.

Bluetooth and Internet Radio
Bluetooth provides a quick connection for compatible phones, tablets and computers when full network streaming is unnecessary.

Network and USB Music Playback
The built-in media player can access compatible music stored on a DLNA or UPnP network server.

The USB Socket Is Not a Computer Audio Input

The HDMI Socket Does Not Pass Video
The TDAI-1120 has one HDMI connection for receiving television audio through ARC or eARC.

Moving-Magnet Phono Input
A dedicated MM phono input allows a compatible turntable to be connected without requiring a separate phono stage.
The input has a quoted load of 47k ohms and 100pF, with a grounding terminal provided for the turntable’s earth lead.
Low-output moving-coil cartridges require a suitable external phono stage or step-up device.
Moving-Magnet and High-Output Cartridges Only
The built-in phono stage is designed for MM and suitable high-output cartridges.
It does not provide the additional gain required by a conventional low-output moving-coil cartridge.
Line-Level Analogue Input

Four Conventional Digital Inputs
Two coaxial S/PDIF inputs accept compatible PCM signals at up to 24-bit/192kHz.
Two optical Toslink inputs support compatible PCM signals at up to 24-bit/96kHz.
These connections are suitable for CD transports, televisions, streamers, games consoles and other sources with compatible stereo PCM outputs.
Use Stereo PCM from Digital Sources
The TDAI-1120 is a two-channel amplifier and does not decode Dolby Digital, DTS or other multichannel cinema formats.
Set connected televisions and video sources to output compatible stereo PCM audio.
Configurable Stereo Analogue Output
The stereo RCA output can provide a volume-controlled signal for one or two subwoofers, an external power amplifier or a separate headphone amplifier.
It can also be configured as a fixed-level Tape Out where appropriate.
The maximum output level is 4V RMS, with a quoted output impedance of 75 ohms.
Use as a RoomPerfect Pre-Amplifier
The internal loudspeaker power stage can be disabled through the setup menu, allowing the TDAI-1120 to operate as a compact RoomPerfect-equipped pre-amplifier.
