Audio T Verdict
Era 300 is one of those speakers where placement deserves more thought than simply finding a spare shelf. Its drivers fire forwards, sideways and upwards, so giving the cabinet room to breathe is an important part of getting the best from both Dolby Atmos Music and home cinema surround sound. Sonos' dedicated Era 300 Wall Mount gives you much greater freedom to put the speaker where the system needs it rather than where your furniture happens to be.
The bracket is more sophisticated than a simple fixed shelf. A ball-and-socket joint allows Era 300 to swivel or tilt by up to 15 degrees, while the speaker itself is screwed securely to the mount. A generous 63mm of wall clearance also leaves room behind the cabinet for the mains connection and compatible Sonos Line-In or Combo Adapters.
It is particularly useful for rear surround installations where floor space is limited or the sofa sits close to a wall. Sonos even provides separate upright and inverted mounting guidance, allowing Era 300 to be installed upside down when positioned close to the ceiling so its directional acoustic architecture continues to work appropriately.
Sonos Era 300 Adjustable Speaker Wall Mount
The official Sonos Era 300 Wall Mount is a purpose-designed adjustable bracket for securely installing Era 300 on a suitable wall while keeping access to the speaker's connections, buttons and touch controls.
Its low-profile ball-and-socket design allows useful directional adjustment without placing Era 300 on a large articulated arm, while cable management helps keep the finished installation clean and discreet.

Put Era 300 Where Its Spatial Drivers Can Work
Era 300 is fundamentally different from a conventional forward-firing wireless speaker.
Its acoustic architecture includes drivers that project sound towards the front, sides and ceiling, meaning nearby furniture and room boundaries can have a particularly noticeable effect on the finished presentation.
Wall mounting allows you to move the speaker away from unsuitable furniture and position it in a location that makes more acoustic sense.
Why Era 300 Placement Matters
The upward-firing tweeter contributes to Dolby Atmos height reproduction, while the side-facing drivers help Era 300 create its expansive lateral soundstage.
If the speaker is enclosed tightly between furniture, buried inside shelving or positioned directly underneath an obstructing surface, those acoustic paths may be compromised.
The wall mount gives you more flexibility to find a position with appropriate clearance.
Save Floor and Furniture Space
Wall mounting removes the need for a side table, shelf or floor stand beneath the speaker.
This can be particularly helpful in smaller rooms and behind sofas where a conventional stand base might intrude into a walkway.
It also keeps existing furniture free for storage and everyday use.
Ball-and-Socket Adjustment
The mount incorporates an adjustable ball-and-socket joint.
Era 300 can be angled:
- Up to 15 degrees upwards
- Up to 15 degrees downwards
- Up to 15 degrees towards the left
- Up to 15 degrees towards the right
Once the preferred position has been chosen, the adjustment collar locks the speaker securely in place.
How to Adjust the Speaker Angle
Sonos' current installation guide uses a locking collar around the adjustable mount.
Rotate the collar approximately 90 degrees anticlockwise to unlock the speaker position, make the required adjustment and then turn the collar approximately 90 degrees clockwise to secure it again.
15 Degrees Is for Fine Positioning
The official mount is intended to fine-tune Era 300's direction rather than turn the speaker dramatically across the room. If the installation requires a much greater angle, consider moving the mounting position rather than forcing the bracket beyond its intended adjustment range.
63mm Wall Clearance
Era 300 sits approximately 63mm / 2.5 inches away from the wall when installed on the official mount.
This clearance is useful for two reasons: it gives the speaker some physical breathing space and leaves room behind the cabinet for connections and compatible USB-C accessories.
Compatible With the Sonos Line-In Adapter
The mount provides sufficient rear clearance for the optional Sonos Era Line-In USB-C Adapter.
This allows a wall-mounted Era 300 to retain access to compatible analogue sources when it is operating as a standalone or stereo music speaker.
Compatible With the Sonos Combo Adapter
The 63mm clearance also accommodates the compatible Sonos Combo Adapter.
This can add analogue line-in and wired Ethernet connectivity through Era 300's USB-C accessory port.
Line-In Is Disabled in Surround Mode
The wall mount physically accommodates Sonos adapters, but Era 300's line-in function is disabled when the speaker is configured as a dedicated rear surround in a Sonos home cinema system.
Access to Buttons and Touch Controls
The low-profile mount is shaped to avoid blocking Era 300's normal controls and connections.
You can continue to access the top touch surface and relevant rear controls without removing the speaker from the wall.
Secure Speaker Fixing
Era 300 does not simply sit loosely on the bracket.
Two short mounting screws secure the speaker platform directly to the underside of Era 300 before the assembly is attached to the wall bracket.
This creates a much more secure installation than placing the speaker on a generic wall shelf.
Always Secure Era 300 to the Mount
Use the supplied speaker-mounting screws exactly as instructed. The wall mount is designed for Era 300 to be mechanically attached before the speaker assembly is locked onto the wall bracket.
Designed Only for Sonos Era 300
Sonos explicitly specifies that the official Era 300 Wall Mount is for Era 300 only.
It should not be treated as a universal bracket for:
- Era 100
- Era 100 SL
- Sonos One
- Sonos One SL
- Sonos Five
- Move 2
- Third-party loudspeakers
Wall-Stud Installation
Sonos specifies that its Era 300 Wall Mount is designed for installation into a wall stud.
The wall bracket is fixed using two long screws driven into the structural timber rather than relying on lightweight hollow-wall anchors alone.
Official Sonos Mount Is Designed for Wall Studs
This mounting system should not simply be screwed into unsupported plasterboard. Locate a suitable wall stud before installation and follow Sonos' current fitting instructions.
Why Structural Support Matters
Era 300 itself weighs more than four kilograms, in addition to the mount.
Once the speaker is extended away from the wall and angled, the fixing points also experience leverage rather than merely supporting a static vertical load.
A secure structural fixing is therefore essential.
Check for Hidden Services Before Drilling
Before drilling into any wall, make sure the proposed mounting position is clear of electrical cables, water pipes and other concealed services.
This is particularly important where the mount is positioned close to mains sockets, televisions or other installed equipment.
Tools Required
Sonos' current installation guide specifies:
- Pencil
- Spirit level
- Stud finder
- Phillips-head screwdriver
- Power drill
- 9/64-inch drill bit for the specified pilot holes
Make sure the tools and installation method are appropriate to your particular wall construction.
Use a Spirit Level
The adjustable joint allows the speaker itself to be angled after installation, but the wall bracket should still be fitted square and level.
Use a spirit level before marking and drilling the fixing points.
Upright Wall Mounting
For most locations, Sonos recommends mounting Era 300 in its normal upright orientation.
The speaker can then swivel left or right or tilt up and down within the mount's adjustment range.
Inverted Wall Mounting
Era 300 can also be installed upside down using the official wall mount.
This is not simply a cosmetic option: Sonos specifically recommends inverted mounting when Era 300 is installed within approximately 610mm / 2 feet of the ceiling.
In that situation, inversion alters the orientation of the directional acoustic system so the speaker can operate more appropriately when there is limited space above it.
Close to the Ceiling? Sonos Recommends Inverting Era 300
If the wall-mounted speaker will sit within approximately 610mm of the ceiling, follow Sonos' inverted installation guidance rather than mounting it upright and blocking the upward-firing acoustic path.
Power Cable Routing With Inverted Mounting
When Era 300 is mounted upside down, Sonos allows the power cable to be routed from above or below according to the installation.
This provides useful flexibility when mains power is positioned higher on the wall or when the speaker forms part of a more discreet custom installation.
Era 300 as a Rear Surround Speaker
A matching pair of Era 300 speakers can be configured as premium Dolby Atmos rear surrounds in compatible Sonos home cinema systems.
This is one of the strongest reasons to wall mount them, particularly where the seating position is close to the rear wall and floor stands would be awkward.
Era 300 With Arc Ultra
A pair of Sonos Era 300 speakers can operate as spatial rear channels with the Sonos Arc Ultra Dolby Atmos Soundbar.
Arc Ultra handles the front soundstage while the Era 300 pair adds physical surround and height information behind the listening position.
Era 300 With Beam (Gen 2)
A pair can also be configured as rear surrounds with the Sonos Beam (Gen 2).
This can create a surprisingly ambitious home cinema system while retaining a relatively compact soundbar at the front of the room.
Why Physical Rear Speakers Matter
Soundbars can generate remarkably wide virtual surround effects from the front of a room, but a speaker physically positioned behind the listener remains the most direct way of reproducing rear-channel information.
Era 300 adds further capability through its own side and upward-firing drivers, allowing it to contribute to a three-dimensional Dolby Atmos presentation.
Wall Mounting Behind a Sofa
When the sofa is close to the rear wall, wall mounting can keep Era 300 away from the floor while still placing it behind and towards the sides of the listening position.
The 15-degree adjustment then provides some flexibility in aligning each speaker appropriately.
Keep a Pair at Matching Heights
If two Era 300 speakers are operating as surrounds or as a stereo pair, mount them at consistent heights wherever room layout allows.
This provides a more symmetrical physical starting point before Trueplay applies its acoustic correction.
Do Not Treat Era 300 Like a Conventional Rear Speaker
Era 300 has a multidirectional acoustic architecture, so normal assumptions about toeing a traditional compact speaker directly towards the listener do not always apply.
For surround use, follow the current Sonos positioning and orientation guidance for Era 300 rather than simply pointing the front grille straight at your ears.
Use Trueplay After Wall Mounting
Changing Era 300 from furniture or a floor stand to a wall installation changes the acoustic environment around it.
Once the mounting height, orientation and angle are final, run Trueplay again so the Sonos system can account for the new position.
Quick Trueplay
Era 300 supports Quick Trueplay using its own internal microphones with compatible iOS and Android devices.
This makes it relatively straightforward to retune the speaker after installation.
Advanced Trueplay
Compatible iOS users can also perform Advanced Trueplay Tuning using the microphone in the iPhone or iPad while moving around the listening area.
This takes a more detailed measurement across the room.
Install First, Trueplay Last
Complete the physical installation, choose upright or inverted orientation where appropriate, set the final speaker angles and then run Trueplay. There is little benefit in tuning a position you are about to change.

The Sonos Era 300 Speaker Stand provides another official way of freeing the speaker from existing furniture.
Era 300 Wall Mount
- No floor footprint
- Ideal when seating is close to wall
- 15-degree tilt and swivel
- Upright or inverted installation

- 63mm wall clearance
- Very discreet finished appearance
Era 300 Stand
- No drilling required
- Fixed 956mm height
- Easy to reposition
- Weighted floor base
- Integrated power-cable channel
- Ideal behind freestanding sofas
- Useful for experimenting with placement
- Requires floor space
Which Is Better for Home Cinema?
The room dictates the answer.
If the sofa sits close to a structurally suitable rear wall, wall mounting can be a very tidy solution.
If the seating sits away from the wall, dedicated stands may place the speakers much closer to the ideal rear-surround position.
Wall Mounting Is a More Permanent Decision
A stand can be moved relatively easily if the room layout changes.
A wall bracket leaves permanent fixing holes, so spend some time confirming height, spacing and mains-cable routing before drilling.
One Mount or a Pair?
This Audio T product is a single Era 300 Wall Mount.
For a single standalone Era 300, one mount is all that is required.
A stereo pair or matching home cinema rear-surround pair will normally require two mounts.
One Wall Mount
- Supports one Era 300
- Ideal for standalone room audio
- Saves shelf and floor space
- Speaker sold separately
Two Wall Mounts
- Ideal for Era 300 stereo pairs
- Ideal for Dolby Atmos rear surrounds
- Matching physical height
- Consistent finished appearance
Official Pair Package
Sonos also offers the Era 300 Wall Mount as an official pair package aimed at stereo and surround installations.
Black or White
The mount is available in Black and White to complement the matching Era 300 finishes.
Matching speaker and mount colours provide the most integrated appearance, particularly on an exposed wall where the bracket remains visible.
Low-Profile Design
The bracket keeps Era 300 relatively close to the wall while still providing enough rear space for connections and directional movement.
This gives the installation a much cleaner appearance than a large universal articulated speaker arm.
Mount Weight
The Era 300 Wall Mount itself weighs approximately 0.74kg.
Remember that the wall fixing must support not only this bracket but the Era 300 speaker as well.
Speaker Weight
Era 300 weighs approximately 4.42kg, bringing the combined wall-mounted assembly to well over five kilograms before any additional leverage from the speaker's distance away from the wall is considered.
This reinforces the importance of secure structural mounting.
Power Cable Routing
The mount includes a path through which the Era 300 mains cable can be cleanly routed behind the speaker.
Plan the route to the mains outlet before final installation so the cable does not need to cross the wall unnecessarily.
Wireless Audio Still Needs a Power Socket
Era 300 is a wireless network speaker, not a battery-powered speaker.
Each wall-mounted Era 300 requires its own mains connection, including when two speakers are being used as wireless rear surrounds.
Plan the Mains Before the Mount
Before fixing anything permanently, check that both speaker positions have practical access to power. Wireless surround audio removes speaker cable to the soundbar, but it does not remove the mains cable from each Era 300.
