Spendor DS1 Theatre On-Wall Speakers
The Spendor DS1 are passive two-way on-wall speakers designed for stereo music and high-performance home cinema systems.
Each cabinet contains an 18cm EP77 polymer bass and midrange driver and Spendor's proprietary 22mm LPZ tweeter within a rigid, dynamically damped sealed enclosure.
The speakers are supplied as a pair with magnetic grilles, Neutrik speakON plugs and wall-mounting hardware.
A Separate Amplifier Is Required
The DS1 are passive loudspeakers and require a suitable stereo amplifier, streaming amplifier, AV receiver or multichannel power amplifier.

Slim, Purpose-Designed Wall Speaker

Wall Mounting with Vibration Control

18cm EP77 Polymer Driver
The proprietary 18cm EP77 polymer cone reproduces both bass and midrange frequencies.
Spendor developed the driver to minimise colouration and preserve the natural tonal character of dialogue, vocals and acoustic instruments.
Its relatively large radiating area helps the shallow cabinet produce a full-bodied and room-filling sound despite its discreet proportions.
22mm LPZ Tweeter
The 22mm Linear Pressure Zone tweeter uses a lightweight woven polyamide diaphragm and a precision acoustic structure positioned in front of the dome.

A crossover frequency of 3.8kHz integrates the LPZ tweeter with the EP77 bass and midrange driver.

Stereo and Home Cinema Placement
For Stereo Listening
- Mount the pair approximately 1.8m to 3m apart
- Position the bottom of each cabinet 0.8m to 1.2m above the floor
- Aim to place the LPZ tweeters close to seated ear height
- Allow around 0.5m from side walls where possible
- Begin with a listening distance of approximately 2m to 3m
For Surround Channels
- Mount on the side walls where practical
- Position approximately 1.5m to 2.1m above the floor

Neutrik speakON Connection
Each DS1 uses a Neutrik speakON connector rather than conventional exposed binding posts.
The supplied speakON plug accepts a two-conductor speaker cable and locks securely into the recessed socket, helping keep the connection neat behind the wall-mounted cabinet.
Correct polarity must be maintained between the amplifier and speakON plug. The positive amplifier terminal must connect to the positive speaker contact, with the negative terminals connected in the same way.
Plan the Cabling Before Mounting
Decide whether the speaker cable will run within the wall, through surface trunking or directly from nearby AV furniture before fixing the mounting hardware.
Leave enough cable to terminate and connect the speakON plug without placing strain on the socket.
Amplifier and AV Setup
The DS1 have a sensitivity of 86dB and a nominal impedance of 8 ohms, with a stated minimum of 5.8 ohms.
