Sliding High-Pass Protection
A dynamic sliding high-pass filter protects the woofers during demanding high-level playback.
As volume increases, the system progressively limits the deepest frequencies to reduce excessive cone excursion.
This allows the Focus 50 to provide substantial bass extension during normal listening while maintaining suitable protection when played more loudly.
20Hz to 22kHz Frequency Response
Dynaudio specifies a frequency response from 20Hz to 22kHz at 85dB within a ±3dB tolerance.
The published dynamic response at the wider -6dB tolerance extends from 18Hz to 36kHz.
The dynamic lower figure should not be interpreted as fixed full-output extension at every listening level. The DSP adjusts the deepest bass according to volume, woofer excursion and protection requirements.
Deep Bass and Room Interaction
A loudspeaker capable of reproducing frequencies around 20Hz can reveal room behaviour that may have been less obvious with a smaller system.
Room dimensions and listening position can cause certain bass frequencies to become exaggerated in one seat and weak in another.
Careful positioning, the built-in room settings and optional Dirac Live calibration can help produce a more consistent result.
Using the Focus 50 Without a Subwoofer
The Focus 50 is designed to provide substantial full-range performance without automatically requiring a separate subwoofer.

Qobuz Connect support was added to the Focus range through firmware version 1.2.120.
This allows music to be selected from the Qobuz app and transferred directly to the Focus 50 without relying on Bluetooth from the controlling device.
The Dynaudio app and speaker firmware should be kept current to provide access to the latest supported features.
Roon Playback
The Focus 50 can operate as a network playback endpoint within a Roon system.
This allows music managed by a Roon server to be selected and controlled through the Roon interface.
Available resolution and performance will depend on the network, server and selected inter-speaker connection.
AirPlay 2 and Google Chromecast

Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect allow music to be selected from their respective applications and played directly through the Focus 50.
The controlling phone, tablet or computer does not need to remain within the audio signal path once playback has been transferred to the speakers.
Bluetooth 4.2
Bluetooth 4.2 provides a straightforward connection for compatible phones, tablets and computers.
Bluetooth is useful for guests, occasional listening and applications that do not support one of the integrated network services.

A Bluetooth remote control is supplied for day-to-day operation without requiring a phone or tablet.

Natural wood surfaces can display individual differences in grain, colour and pattern. The cabinets are matched as a stereo pair and should remain together as supplied.
Brushed Aluminium Details
Brushed anodised aluminium trim rings surround the Cerotar tweeter, midrange and woofers.
The grilles also include discreet aluminium details carrying the Dynaudio logo.
A Y-shaped front indicator displays operating and setup information through different colours.
Magnetic Smart Grilles
Black magnetic Smart Grilles are supplied with the speakers.

Running-In Period
The Focus 50 can be used immediately after installation, but the driver suspensions may continue to settle during the first several hours of normal playback.
Bass response, integration and overall ease may improve as the moving components reach their intended flexibility.
Special test signals or continuous high-volume playback are unnecessary. Normal varied music at sensible levels is sufficient.
Cabinet and Driver Care
Clean the cabinet with a soft, dry or very slightly damp cloth.

Never touch the Cerotar soft dome. Dust on the MSP diaphragms or grilles should be removed gently with a clean, soft brush.
