It is an unusually neat solution for kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms and living spaces where conventional speakers, amplifiers and visible cables would compromise the room.
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect and Roon Ready support provide flexible wireless playback, while the Zuma app brings sound, lighting and multi-room control together on iOS and Android.
Its appeal is strongest when the complete room is planned properly. Ceiling position, unit quantity, Wi-Fi coverage, bezel choice, lighting layout, available void depth and electrical work should all be confirmed before ordering.
Zuma Lumisonic Wireless Ceiling Speaker and LED Downlight
Zuma Lumisonic places an active loudspeaker and a premium LED light inside a compact recessed ceiling fitting. Once installed and connected to the home network, it can play music, provide room lighting or do both at the same time, with no separate amplifier or conventional loudspeaker cabinets required.
A single Lumisonic can provide sound and light in a smaller space, while multiple units can be arranged into rooms and zones for wider coverage. The system can also be combined with Zuma Luminaire light-only fittings where a room needs more downlights than speakers.

Fully Active 75W Ceiling Sound
Each Lumisonic contains its own 75W Class D amplifier, processor and sealed loudspeaker system. The aluminium woofer is partnered by an integrated tweeter to spread sound into the room from above, making the fitting suitable for background listening as well as more involving everyday music playback.
Because amplification and processing are built in, there is no separate amplifier rack to accommodate. The result is particularly useful in open-plan rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms and other spaces where keeping equipment out of sight matters as much as sound quality.
Wireless Streaming and Multi-Room Audio
Current Zuma support includes Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Roon Ready playback, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Apple TV compatibility also provides a route to television sound within a compatible Apple setup.
The Zuma app controls music, volume, lighting and room groups from a compatible iOS or Android device. Zuma states that a system can include up to 200 units in one home, allowing a project to start with one room and expand over time.

Tuneable LED Lighting
The integrated 6W LED produces 530 lumens through a 52-degree beam. A 90+ CRI helps colours and interior finishes appear natural, while the tuneable white range moves from a warm 2700K to a cooler 4800K.
The Zuma app provides dimming, lighting scenes and wellbeing presets. Circadian lighting can change the colour temperature through the day, and Lumisonic units can be combined with Zuma Luminaire light-only fittings to create a consistent lighting scheme without fitting a speaker at every ceiling position.
Plan the Installation Before Ordering
Lumisonic is a mains-powered recessed fitting, not a portable wireless speaker. Zuma specifies a 95mm ceiling cut-out and a minimum 131mm depth measured from the finished face of the ceiling. Existing wiring, ceiling construction, insulation, joists, fire protection, bathroom zones, Wi-Fi coverage and access for installation must all be checked.
Electrical installation should be completed by a suitably qualified installer in accordance with current UK regulations. IP65 does not remove the need to confirm the permitted position and installation method in a bathroom or other moisture-prone area.
Room Planning and System Layout
Speaker and lighting performance both depend on the number and position of the fittings. As an initial guide for a standard home, Zuma recommends approximately 1.2m spacing between units in kitchens and bathrooms, and approximately 1.8m in living rooms and bedrooms. It also advises positioning fittings around 1m from a wall edge where possible.

Alexa and Smart-Home Control
Lumisonic supports Alexa control, but the standard cosmetic bezel does not itself provide a built-in microphone. Hands-free Alexa Built-in control is available through the optional Zuma Smart Bezel Voice, or the system can be used with suitable external Alexa hardware.
Zuma also supports integration with Lutron, Crestron and Control4 systems. Compatibility, programming requirements and any additional control hardware should be confirmed with the system designer before installation.
Bezel and Mounting Options
Each Lumisonic is finished with a magnetically attached acoustic bezel. Zuma offers round and square designs in different finishes, with proud and flush-mount installation possibilities. The Smart Bezel Voice is an optional upgrade rather than part of the standard Lumisonic.
