How Active Speakers Work
A conventional passive loudspeaker receives an amplified full-range signal and divides it using a passive crossover inside the cabinet.
The SCM150ASL divides the line-level signal electronically before amplification. Bass, midrange and high frequencies are then sent to dedicated amplifiers connected directly to their respective drive units.
This gives ATC control over crossover behaviour, amplifier power and drive-unit matching while removing high-power passive crossover components from the signal path.
A Pre-Amplifier or Variable Output Is Required
