Mechanically, it follows the same proven formula as Solidsteel's standard HF Series: a substantial four-pillar stainless steel structure, 30mm MDF equipment platforms, adjustable Hyperspike feet and rubber O-ring interfaces. The difference is primarily aesthetic, with the Elite version replacing the standard lacquered black or white shelves with genuine wood veneer.
The result is a rack that feels less overtly technical in a living room while retaining the engineering and generous proportions of the standard HF-3. A 305mm lower equipment interval gives large amplifiers plenty of room, the 205mm upper interval suits most source components and each shelf is rated to support up to 80kg.

This model was previously known and listed by Audio T as the Solidsteel HFE-3. Solidsteel now markets the range as HF Series Elite, with two, three and four-shelf models named HF-2 Elite, HF-3 Elite and HF-4 Elite respectively.

HF Series Engineering With a More Luxurious Finish
The Elite Series is based on the same underlying architecture as Solidsteel's established HF racks.
The substantial stainless steel frame, shelf dimensions, Hyperspike system and 80kg load rating remain familiar, but the appearance of the equipment platforms changes considerably.

Genuine Wood-Veneer Shelves
The Elite platforms retain the 30mm engineered MDF core used throughout the HF range but add sheets of genuine decorative timber to the visible surfaces.
This gives the rack the natural grain and character of real wood without replacing the stable engineered platform beneath it.
Veneer Is Real Timber
Wood veneer is not a printed wood-effect surface. A thin sheet of genuine decorative timber is applied to the engineered MDF platform, giving each shelf natural grain and tonal variation while retaining the structural consistency of the MDF core.
American Walnut
American Walnut is the most understated of the current Elite finishes.

An amplifier physically fitting within the available height does not automatically mean it has sufficient cooling space. Always follow the component manufacturer's ventilation requirements, particularly with Class A, valve and other hot-running electronics.
205mm Upper Equipment Clearance
The second interval provides approximately 205mm of vertical space.
That is suitable for most conventional source and control components, including:

Allow Room for Cables

The decorative timber is applied over a substantial 30mm MDF core.
MDF provides a relatively uniform internal structure without the continuous natural grain found in solid timber, while the considerable thickness provides the rigidity required to support heavy equipment.
80kg Capacity Per Shelf
Each platform is rated to support up to 80kg.
That is approximately 176lb per level.
The capacity gives plenty of headroom for unusually heavy integrated amplifiers, turntables, power supplies and other substantial equipment.
The 80kg Rating Is Per Shelf
Solidsteel's rating applies to each individual platform, rather than an 80kg total divided between all three. The rack should still be assembled, levelled and secured correctly before heavy equipment is installed.
