The MA12000 is McIntosh doing an integrated amplifier without really accepting the idea of compromise. It combines a four-valve preamplifier, a 350W-per-channel solid-state power amplifier, two phono stages, a high-resolution DAC, HDMI ARC, headphone amplification and one of the most comprehensive collections of analogue and digital inputs you'll find in a single chassis.
Yet underneath all of those features is a very serious amplifier. McIntosh Autoformers deliver the full 350 watts into 2, 4 or 8-ohm loudspeakers, while Power Guard, Sentry Monitor and substantial filter capacity are there to keep that output under control.
At nearly 49kg, the MA12000 is not really a space-saving alternative to separates. McIntosh MA12000 Hybrid Integrated Amplifier
The MA12000 is McIntosh's flagship and most powerful integrated amplifier, using the company's Hybrid Drive design to combine vacuum-tube preamplification with a high-current solid-state power amplifier.
Four 12AX7A valves are used in the preamplifier, with two dedicated to each audio channel. The power-amplifier section delivers 350 watts per channel and uses McIntosh Autoformer technology so that the rated output remains 350 watts whether connected to 2, 4 or 8-ohm loudspeakers.

DA2 Digital Audio Module and HDMI ARC
Unlike McIntosh products where the DA2 is an optional upgrade, the DA2 Digital Audio Module is fitted to the MA12000 as standard.
At its heart is a Quad Balanced eight-channel, 32-bit DAC. Digital capability includes:

Roon Tested
The DA2-equipped MA12000 is Roon Tested. It does not contain a network streamer itself, so a computer, streamer or other compatible digital source is still required to deliver music to the amplifier.
Eight-Band Analogue Equaliser and Headphone Amplifier
Behind the eight rotary controls across the front panel is a fully analogue eight-band equaliser, providing up to +/-12dB of adjustment at:

Classic McIntosh Construction
Physically, the MA12000 is every bit the flagship. The front combines traditional McIntosh black glass, two blue Watt meters, illuminated branding and substantial aluminium end caps with integrated handles.

Plan the Installation Before It Arrives
At 48.9kg and just over 50cm deep, the MA12000 needs substantial furniture, good ventilation and sufficient rear clearance for cables. Its weight also makes a two-person installation highly advisable.
UK Power Specification
Audio T supplies the UK-market version of the MA12000. McIntosh manufactures the amplifier in several factory-configured mains versions, including a dedicated 230V AC, 50/60Hz, 3.3A configuration appropriate to the UK market.
