The Solidsteel HY-4L is the largest four-level rack in the current HY family, combining the full-height layout of the HY-4 with a much broader 780mm-wide structure. Its mixed-height layout is particularly practical. One 285mm equipment interval provides space for larger amplification, while two further 185mm openings suit conventional source and control components. The open upper platform has unrestricted height and is an obvious home for a turntable, although it can equally accommodate particularly tall or hot-running equipment.

Both have four equipment levels, approximately 875mm overall height, 500mm depth and 285 / 185 / 185mm standard clearances. The HY-4 provides around 508mm usable width, while the HY-4L increases this to approximately 688mm.

Does the HY-4L carry more weight than the HY-4?

No. Under Solidsteel's current specification both models are rated at 70kg per equipment shelf. Older HY-4L literature may show a higher 90kg figure.

The HY-3L has three equipment platforms with approximately 285mm and 185mm clearances. The HY-4L adds a fourth platform and another approximately 185mm equipment interval.
