The Sonus faber Lumina II hits a particularly useful sweet spot in the Lumina range. It is still compact enough for a smaller living room, but the move from Lumina I's 120mm driver to a 150mm midwoofer brings noticeably more cabinet volume, bass extension and physical scale without turning the speaker into something difficult to accommodate.

It also manages to retain many of the details that make a Sonus faber feel like a Sonus faber. The 29mm D.A.D. soft-dome tweeter, natural-fibre paper midwoofer, multilayer wood front panel and hand-applied black leather give Lumina II far more character than its simple rectangular cabinet might initially suggest. The important thing is not to underestimate the amplifier simply because the cabinet is compact.
