Is the Dynaudio Emit 30 sold as a pair?
Yes. The Audio T product is supplied as a stereo pair.
Is the Emit 30 a three-way speaker?
No. It is a 2.5-way design using two 14cm MSP drivers and one Cerotar tweeter.
What does 2.5-way mean?
Both MSP drivers contribute through the bass, but one is progressively filtered through the lower crossover region while the other continues through the midrange before handing over to the tweeter.
Which tweeter does it use?
A 28mm Cerotar coated fabric soft-dome tweeter with Dynaudio’s Hexis inner dome.
What is the Hexis?
It is a dimpled inner dome positioned behind the tweeter diaphragm to control airflow and reduce unwanted internal resonance.
How many MSP drivers are fitted?
Each speaker uses two 14cm MSP drivers.
What does MSP mean?
MSP stands for Magnesium Silicate Polymer, Dynaudio’s proprietary cone material.
What type of voice coils are used?
The MSP drivers use lightweight aluminium voice-coil wire with a thin copper coating, wound around two-layer glass-fibre formers.
What are the crossover frequencies?
Dynaudio currently specifies approximately 1000Hz and 3500Hz.
What is the crossover topology?
Dynaudio specifies a first-order tweeter filter and a second-order woofer filter.
What type of bass port is used?
A rear-mounted bass-reflex port flared at both its internal and external openings.
Are foam port inserts supplied?
Yes. They can be used where wall proximity or room behaviour produces excessive bass reinforcement.
Should the foam inserts always be used?
No. Position the speakers first and use the inserts only where the room or wall distance makes the bass excessive.
What is the frequency response?
Dynaudio currently specifies 45Hz to 25kHz at +/-3dB and 39Hz to 35kHz at -6dB.
What is the current sensitivity figure?
Dynaudio’s current specification states 88dB at 2.83V measured at one metre.
What is the rated impedance?
4 ohms.
Is the Emit 30 difficult to drive?
It is reasonably sensitive, but its 4-ohm rating means it benefits from a quality amplifier with stable output and good current delivery.
How much amplifier power is required?
There is no single correct figure. Room size, listening distance, preferred volume, amplifier quality and current delivery all matter.
Does it require a 180W amplifier?
No. The 180W figure is its IEC long-term power-handling specification, not a compulsory amplifier rating.
Can the speakers be bi-wired?
No. Each Emit 30 uses one pair of loudspeaker terminals for conventional single wiring.
How far should the speakers be from the wall?
Begin with clear space behind the rear ports where practical, then move both speakers equally while assessing bass weight and definition.
Can the Emit 30 be placed close to a wall?
Yes, although wall proximity will normally increase perceived bass output. The supplied foam inserts can help where positioning flexibility is limited.
Should the speakers be toed in?
Experiment with equal toe-in on both channels. The optimum angle depends on the room, listening distance and preferred balance between image focus and soundstage width.
Does the Emit 30 require a subwoofer?
Not necessarily. It provides useful bass extension for music. A subwoofer can add deeper extension, additional headroom or home cinema impact where required.
Can the Emit 30 be used in a home cinema?
Yes. It is suitable for front left and right use within a Dynaudio Emit multichannel system.
Which centre speaker matches it?
The Dynaudio Emit 25C is the dedicated centre-channel speaker for the Emit range.
Are magnetic grilles included?
Yes. Black magnetic grilles are supplied.
Which finishes are available?
Audio T currently lists Black, White and Walnut, subject to availability.
What are the cabinet dimensions?
Dynaudio specifies 170 x 900 x 272mm (W x H x D).
What are the dimensions including the feet and grille?
Dynaudio specifies approximately 268 x 947 x 335mm (W x H x D).
How much does each speaker weigh?
Approximately 15.5kg.
How are the speakers packaged?
Each speaker is packaged separately, so a stereo pair is supplied in two cartons.
What warranty is available?
Dynaudio passive speakers receive the applicable standard legal and manufacturer warranty. Registration within 12 months of purchase can extend total cover to 96 months, subject to Dynaudio’s full terms and proof of purchase.
