Audio T Verdict
Chord Company C-view was designed as an affordable route into a properly engineered high-bandwidth HDMI cable, capable of handling the demanding picture and sound formats associated with modern televisions, projectors, games consoles and home-cinema systems.
The 48Gbps version represented a complete redesign of the original C-view, increasing bandwidth to support resolutions including 8K at 60Hz and 4K at 120Hz while retaining the slim and flexible construction that made the original cable particularly easy to install.
Internally, C-view uses 28AWG copper conductors with Foam-PE insulation and twin aluminium-foil shielding. Chord Company pays particular attention to shielding because HDMI combines extremely high-frequency digital signals with an electrical connection between the connected products.
The cable is only 7mm in diameter, making it considerably easier to route behind televisions, AV furniture and equipment racks than many bulky high-bandwidth HDMI cables.
C-view has since been replaced in Chord Company's current range by C-view Plus, but the original 48Gbps C-view remains a very capable cable for compatible 4K and 8K systems.
Chord Company C-view 48Gbps 8K HDMI Cable
C-view is a high-bandwidth HDMI cable developed by Chord Company for television, home cinema, gaming and projection systems.
This is the later:
48Gbps C-view generation.
It should not be confused with either the original lower-bandwidth C-view or the newer C-view Plus.
C-view Has Been Replaced by C-view Plus
Chord Company introduced C-view Plus as the successor to C-view in 2024.
This Audio T product is the earlier C-view 48Gbps cable and should retain its original specifications rather than being updated with features belonging to C-view Plus.
48Gbps HDMI Bandwidth
The redesigned C-view supports a published maximum bandwidth of:

This substantial increase over earlier generations of HDMI cable enables C-view to carry high-resolution video at increased frame rates when used with compatible source and display equipment.
8K at 60Hz
Chord Company specifies support for:

Both the source component and display must support the required resolution and HDMI format for this capability to be used.
4K at 120Hz
C-view also supports:
4K video at up to 120Hz.
This is particularly relevant to compatible modern games consoles, gaming PCs and high-refresh-rate televisions or monitors.
The Whole HDMI Chain Must Be Compatible
A 48Gbps cable cannot add 8K or 4K/120Hz capability to equipment that does not already support it.
The source, AV amplifier or processor, HDMI cable and display must all support the required video format.
Dynamic HDR Support
C-view supports:
Dynamic HDR.
Dynamic HDR allows compatible video systems to communicate changing high-dynamic-range information during playback rather than relying solely on one fixed set of parameters for the complete programme.
eARC Support
C-view supports:
eARC - Enhanced Audio Return Channel.
eARC can allow a compatible television to send high-quality audio back through the HDMI connection to a compatible AV amplifier, processor, soundbar or stereo component.

The audio formats actually available will depend on the connected source, display and audio equipment.
3D Video Support
C-view also retains compatibility with:
3D HDMI video.
This can be useful for legacy Blu-ray, projector and display systems where 3D playback is still required.
28AWG Copper Conductors
C-view uses:
28AWG copper primary conductors.
The conductor and insulation design were revised when Chord Company redeveloped C-view for the increased bandwidth requirements of 48Gbps HDMI transmission.
Foam-PE Insulation
The primary conductors use:
Foam-PE insulation.
This forms part of the controlled internal cable construction required for reliable high-frequency signal transmission.
Twin Aluminium-Foil Shielding
C-view uses:
Twin aluminium-foil shielding.
Chord Company places particular emphasis on high-frequency shielding within its HDMI cable designs because HDMI cables can be exposed to electrical noise generated by the numerous digital products and power supplies found within a modern entertainment system.
Do Not Add Graphene Shielding to C-view
Graphene shielding belongs to the newer C-view Plus.
The 48Gbps C-view on this page uses twin aluminium-foil shielding and should continue to be described that way.
Why HDMI Shielding Matters
HDMI carries extremely high-frequency digital information between two electrically connected products.
Televisions, projectors, games consoles, streaming boxes, AV amplifiers, computers and their power supplies can all contribute high-frequency electrical noise around a home-cinema system.
Chord Company therefore uses extensive shielding throughout its HDMI range to help reduce unwanted interference entering the cable.

Why C-view Stops at 3 Metres
High-bandwidth HDMI signals become increasingly difficult to transport reliably over long conventional copper cable runs.
For installations requiring considerably longer distances, an active optical HDMI solution can be more appropriate than simply extending a passive copper cable.
Long HDMI Installation?

Ideal for 4K Televisions
C-view is particularly well suited to modern 4K television systems.
Its 48Gbps bandwidth comfortably supports the published 4K/120Hz capability when partnered with compatible equipment, while the slim 7mm construction makes installation behind a television relatively straightforward.
Suitable for 8K Displays
C-view supports 8K/60Hz where the complete HDMI system is compatible.
This means the cable can be used with suitable 8K televisions, AV receivers and source equipment within its published operating distance.
Suitable for Projectors
C-view can also be used between compatible AV equipment and projectors.
However, projector installations often require longer HDMI runs, so measure the complete cable route before choosing the cable.

Suitable for Games Consoles

C-view Plus Features Do Not Apply to C-view
The newer C-view Plus specifically adds graphene-enhanced shielding and support for features including Source-Based Tone Mapping, Variable Refresh Rate, Auto Low Latency Mode, Quick Frame Transport and Quick Media Switching.
Those features should not be retrospectively added to the C-view specification unless specifically documented for this older model.
Installation Advice
For best results with any high-bandwidth HDMI connection:
- Switch equipment off before connecting or removing HDMI cables
- Avoid putting unnecessary strain on HDMI sockets
- Keep the cable away from mains cables where practical
- Avoid sharp bends or crushing the cable
- Test the complete signal format before permanently concealing the cable
Test Before Installing in a Wall
This is particularly important with HDMI.
If the cable is going behind a wall, beneath a floor or through a ceiling, connect the complete system first and test the highest resolution, refresh rate and audio format you intend to use.
Always Test Concealed HDMI Runs First
Do not permanently install an HDMI cable before confirming compatibility with the actual source, amplifier or processor and display.
Replacing a cable after walls or floors have been finished can be considerably more difficult than testing it beforehand.
Does C-view Improve Resolution?
C-view cannot make a 4K source produce an 8K signal or add 120Hz output to equipment that does not support it.
Its role is to provide a cable connection capable of carrying the supported HDMI signal between compatible products.
Can I Use C-view with 1080p Equipment?
Yes.
C-view can be used with compatible lower-resolution HDMI equipment as well as 4K and 8K systems.
Can C-view Carry Sound and Picture?
