Cyrus Hark III Four-Shelf Hi-Fi Equipment Rack

Cyrus Hark III Four-Shelf Hi-Fi Equipment Rack

Audio T Verdict

The Cyrus Hark III is a purpose-designed home for a collection of Cyrus components, combining adjustable shelving, effective cable management and a compact footprint.

Each component rests on three Cyruthane supports rather than directly against the metal shelf, helping to reduce the transmission of unwanted vibration. The shelves can also be positioned independently, making it easier to leave suitable ventilation around amplifiers and power supplies.

Four shelves are included, with room to expand to eight as the system grows. For customers building a substantial Cyrus separates system, the Hark III provides a much neater and more coherent solution than adapting a conventional full-width equipment rack.

Cyrus Hark III Four-Shelf Hi-Fi Rack

The Cyrus Hark III is an all-metal equipment rack designed around the proportions and support requirements of Cyrus Hi-Fi components.

It is supplied with four independently adjustable shelves and can accommodate up to eight by adding the optional Cyrus Hark III double-shelf packs.

Cyruthane isolation supports, a substantial floor-standing base and concealed cable-management space help provide a stable and tidy foundation for a complete Cyrus system.

Select the Correct Option

The complete Hark III rack includes four shelves and is available in Black or Silver.

The optional double-shelf pack contains two additional shelves and is not a complete equipment rack.

Four Adjustable Shelves Included

The complete Hark III is supplied with four equipment shelves that attach to the rack’s central spine.

Each shelf can be positioned at a suitable height for the component it supports, allowing more space around amplifiers and other equipment that generates heat.

Shelf spacing should be planned before the system is installed. Consider the height of each component, its ventilation requirements and the space needed to reach rear-panel connections.

Expandable to Eight Shelves

Up to four further shelves can be added, giving the Hark III a maximum capacity of eight equipment levels.

Additional shelves are supplied in pairs and use the same adjustable mounting system and Cyruthane support arrangement as the original four.

This provides a straightforward upgrade route when adding a separate power supply, power amplifier, CD player, streamer or another Cyrus component.

Complete Rack

  • Four adjustable equipment shelves
  • Floor-standing base and central spine
  • Integrated cable-management compartment
  • Available in Black or Silver

Optional Shelf Pack

  • Contains two additional shelves
  • Uses matching Cyruthane supports
  • Allows expansion up to eight levels
  • Requires an existing Hark III rack

Cyruthane Isolation Supports

Each shelf supports the Cyrus component at three carefully positioned contact points made from Cyruthane.

Cyrus developed this synthetic material to absorb and suppress small vibrations travelling through the rack structure.

When the component is positioned correctly, its feet rest on the Cyruthane pads rather than touching the surrounding metal shelf. This creates a degree of mechanical separation between the equipment and rack structure.

Correct alignment is therefore important. The component should be lowered carefully onto all three supports and checked before the system is switched on.

Stable All-Metal Construction

The Hark III uses an aluminium and steel structure with a broad floor-standing base and substantial central column.

This provides a rigid foundation for several Cyrus components while keeping the overall footprint relatively compact.

The rack is fitted with adjustable floor spikes to help it remain level and stable on a suitable surface.

Integrated Cable Management

Signal, speaker and mains cables can be routed from the rear of each shelf into the concealed compartment within the central column.

A full-height access panel provides access to the internal cable-management space from the front of the rack.

The compartment is large enough to accommodate a suitable linear mains block as well as interconnects and power cables, helping keep the visible installation neat.

Loose cables should be secured inside the column to prevent them from rattling against the metalwork. Avoid pulling cables tightly or placing unnecessary strain on component sockets.

Planning Shelf Positions

Arrange the shelves around the equipment actually being installed rather than spacing every level equally.

Amplifiers and power supplies should be given sufficient ventilation, while source components may require extra space for access to discs, controls or rear-panel connections.

Cyrus advises installing only the number of shelves required by the system. Unused shelves can be removed and stored until they are needed.

Equipment Compatibility

The Hark III has been developed specifically around Cyrus equipment and the position of the feet used on compatible Cyrus components.

Its Cyruthane pads must align correctly beneath the equipment for the isolation system to operate as intended.

Compatibility with non-Cyrus products, unusually deep equipment or components with different foot positions should be confirmed before ordering.

Cyrus does not publish a maximum shelf load, so particularly heavy equipment should also be checked with Audio T before installation.

Floor-Spike Adjustment

The adjustable spikes allow the base to be levelled and help prevent the rack from rocking.

Use a spirit level before adding the equipment and recheck the rack once the complete system has been installed.

Protective spike cups should be used on wooden, vinyl, ceramic, laminate or other floors that may be marked by the sharp metal tips.

Assembly and Installation

Cyrus recommends that the Hark III is assembled by two people in a clear working area away from children and pets.

Plan its final position before loading the shelves, as the completed rack will become considerably heavier once several Cyrus components are installed.

The Hark III is designed only for floor mounting and must not be suspended from a wall.

Take care when lowering components between the metal shelf arms. Covering the casework with a soft cloth during installation can help protect it from accidental contact.

Black or Silver Finish

The complete rack is available in Black or Silver to complement different generations and finishes of Cyrus equipment.

The selected finish applies to the rack structure and shelves, while the Cyruthane support pads remain functional parts of the isolation system.

Clean the rack using a soft, dry cloth or a soft brush for less accessible areas. Avoid abrasive pads, chemical cleaners and liquid polish.
