The Marantz CD6007 is a versatile CD player for listeners who want straightforward disc playback together with the ability to play high-resolution music files from a USB memory device. It supports conventional CDs, recordable CD-R and CD-RW discs and compatible MP3 or WMA data discs.

CD, CD-R and CD-RW Compatibility
The CD6007 plays standard 12cm and 8cm audio CDs together with compatible CD-R and CD-RW discs. Recordable disc performance can depend on the disc condition, recording software, writing method and whether the recording session was correctly finalised.
Compatible data discs containing MP3 or WMA files can also be played. Folder navigation, repeat, random and programmed playback functions are available through the supplied remote control.
CD Playback, Not SACD Playback
The CD6007 does not play Super Audio CD or the high-resolution SACD layer of a hybrid disc. A hybrid SACD may still play if it includes a conventional CD layer, but the player will read that CD layer only.

Front USB-A Input
A USB-A port on the front panel allows compatible music files to be played from a USB memory device. The port supports mass-storage-class devices formatted using FAT16 or FAT32.
Supported compressed formats include MP3, WMA and MPEG-4 AAC. Lossless PCM support covers WAV, FLAC and AIFF at sampling rates up to 192kHz, while Apple Lossless files are supported at up to 96kHz. DSD files can be played at 2.8MHz or 5.6MHz.
The player supports folder structures up to eight levels deep, with up to 255 folders and a maximum of 65,025 files. Actual compatibility can still depend on the storage device, file structure, artwork size and whether the files are protected by digital rights management.
USB Storage Devices Only
The front connection is intended for a compatible USB memory device. It is not a USB-B computer input and does not support direct playback from an iPhone, iPad or Android device.
The CD6007 cannot receive audio from a computer through USB and cannot be used as a general-purpose external DAC for another digital source.
AK4490 Digital-to-Analogue Conversion
Digital-to-analogue conversion is handled by an AK4490 multi-bit delta-sigma DAC. It processes conventional 16-bit/44.1kHz CD audio alongside the higher-resolution PCM and DSD files supported through the front USB connection.
A high-accuracy system clock helps control the timing of the digital signal. Marantz also uses separate rectifier circuits for the analogue and digital sections, helping keep their respective power-supply demands isolated within the player.
Two Selectable Digital Filters
The CD6007 provides two filter characteristics for PCM playback. Filter 1 is the default setting and uses a short impulse response for both pre-echo and post-echo. Filter 2 uses slightly longer pre-echo and post-echo characteristics.
Neither setting is universally correct for every system. The difference can be subtle, but an Audio T demonstration provides the opportunity to compare them through suitable amplification and loudspeakers.
Marantz HDAM Analogue Output Stage
After digital conversion, the signal passes through an HDAM low-pass-filter stage and an HDAM-SA2 output buffer. These proprietary discrete circuits perform functions that are often handled by conventional integrated operational amplifiers.
Marantz combines this output stage with selected audio components, a symmetrical circuit layout and an additional metal plate intended to strengthen the chassis. The front panel is also manufactured from metal.
Analogue or Digital Connection
The gold-plated stereo RCA outputs use the CD6007’s internal DAC and analogue output stage. This is the simplest connection to a conventional line-level input on an amplifier.
Optical and coaxial digital outputs allow the player to be connected to an amplifier or separate digital-to-analogue converter with a compatible digital input. This allows the CD6007 to operate as a CD transport while the connected component performs the conversion.
The digital outputs can be switched off through the player’s setup menu when only the analogue outputs are being used.

Dedicated Headphone Amplifier
A headphone socket and volume control are fitted to the front panel. The internal headphone stage uses an HDAM-SA2 buffer combined with a dedicated operational amplifier.
Low, Mid and High gain settings allow the output to be adapted for headphones with different impedance and sensitivity requirements. Volume should be reduced before changing the gain setting.
The output is rated at 28mW into 32 ohms. Very demanding headphones may still benefit from a more powerful separate headphone amplifier, so a demonstration is recommended when headphone listening is a priority.

No Streaming or Wireless Connection
The CD6007 does not include Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, HEOS or access to online music services. Streaming requires a separate network music player.
