Precision RB220 Tonearm
At the heart of the Planar 78 lies the hand-assembled RB220 tonearm — a development of the acclaimed RB250. Using Rega’s patented ultra-lightweight polymer bearings, precision vertical and horizontal bearings, and a unique die-cast arm tube, the RB220 offers stability, accuracy, and superb tracking. Its three-point plinth mounting design reduces stress and resonance, helping the arm extract every detail from your cherished 78s.
Advanced Motor and Drive System
Powered by Rega’s latest low-noise 24V synchronous motor and fitted with the Advanced EBLT drive belt as standard, the Planar 78 maintains exceptional speed stability and quiet operation. The phenolic resin platter, with its flywheel effect, adds further refinement and authority to playback.
Ready for the Rega RB78 Cartridge
For optimal performance, Rega manufactures a dedicated moving magnet cartridge for 78 RPM playback — the RB78 (sold separately). This specially designed cartridge ensures accurate groove tracing and faithful sound reproduction, perfectly complementing the Planar 78.
