Audio T Verdict
The dedicated Audio Note AN-K stands are an important part of installing the compact AN-K loudspeakers correctly rather than simply somewhere convenient to place them.
Their 570mm height positions the speakers appropriately for seated listening, while the broad top plates and four fillable upright pillars provide the rigid, high-mass support required by the AN-K cabinet.
Adjustable locking spikes allow the stands to be levelled accurately, and the pillars can be filled to increase their mass further. Properly assembled, filled and positioned, they provide the natural support for an Audio Note AN-K system.
Audio Note AN-K Speaker Stands
The Audio Note AN-K Speaker Stands are dedicated high-mass supports designed specifically for Audio Note AN-K loudspeakers.
Each stand consists of a broad top plate, matching base plate and four hollow upright pillars. The cavities inside the pillars can be filled with suitable dry material to increase the completed mass and provide a stable foundation for the loudspeaker.
The stands are supplied as a stereo pair in kit form, with the principal structural components, assembly bolts, adjustable spikes and Allen key required for construction.
Stands Only
Audio Note AN-K loudspeakers are not included and are available separately.
The stands require assembly before use. Filling material, Blu-Tack and speaker cables are not listed as supplied accessories.
Designed for Audio Note AN-K Loudspeakers
The 570mm height and top-plate dimensions have been selected to suit the compact proportions of the AN-K cabinet.
Supporting the speaker at the intended height helps position its tweeter appropriately for seated listening. The broad top plate also supports the cabinet more evenly and securely than a small universal stand.
The stands can partner models throughout the Audio Note AN-K range, including the

.
High-Mass Four-Pillar Construction
Each stand uses four hollow rectangular pillars positioned between its top and base plates.
This four-pillar arrangement creates a broad and rigid supporting structure while allowing each upright to be filled before the top plate is fitted.
Each stand weighs 11kg before filling. Adding suitable material to the pillars increases the completed weight, so it is sensible to establish the approximate listening position before installing the loudspeakers.
Fillable Upright Pillars
Audio Note recommends filling the hollow pillars with clean, dry and suitably dense material.
Appropriate options include kiln-dried sand, clean dry aquarium sand, suitable sand intended for children’s sandpits or dry metal particles.
Standard construction-grade sharp sand should not be used without proper preparation because it can contain moisture. Damp material may cause internal damage and should never be sealed inside the stand.
Suitable Filling Materials
- Kiln-dried sand
- Clean and dry aquarium sand
- Clean dry sand intended for sandpits
- Suitable dry metal particles or shot
- Other clean, dry high-density material
Avoid Using
- Damp or wet sand
- Unprepared construction sand
- Material containing dirt or debris
- Anything likely to retain moisture
- Material that obstructs the bolt holes
Sealing the Pillars Before Filling
The small opening at the bottom of each pillar may need to be sealed before filling to prevent sand or particles escaping.
Audio Note recommends using a pliable, slightly adhesive material such as Blu-Tack or Plasticine. A small amount can be placed over the opening and around the lower edges of each pillar before it is secured to the base plate.
Filling material should be added through the larger centre opening. Keep it away from the smaller threaded holes used to attach the top plate.
Supplied in Kit Form
The package contains the parts required to assemble two complete stands.
The upright pillars are first secured to the base plates using the supplied dome-headed bolts. Once the pillars have been sealed and filled, the top plates can be attached with the countersunk bolts.
All bolts should be tightened securely and checked again when assembly is complete. It is also worth checking them periodically, particularly after the stands have been moved.
Adjustable and Lockable Floor Spikes
Four adjustable spikes are supplied for each stand.
The spikes screw into the threaded positions at the corners of the base plate and can be adjusted independently to compensate for an uneven floor.
Place a spirit level on the top plate and adjust the spikes until the stand is level, with all four points firmly contacting the floor. The locking nuts can then be tightened to prevent further movement.
Suitable spike shoes or floor protectors may be required when the stands are installed on timber, laminate, tile or another easily marked surface.
Securing the AN-K Loudspeakers
Audio Note recommends placing four small pea-sized pieces of Blu-Tack on the upper surface of each top plate, with one positioned close to each corner.
The loudspeaker can then be lowered carefully onto the stand and pressed down gently so that the Blu-Tack compresses between the cabinet and top plate.
This helps secure the cabinet and creates a controlled interface without using permanent adhesive, screws or fixings that could damage the speaker veneer.
570mm Stand Height
Each assembled stand measures 570mm high, 290mm wide and 210mm deep.
Combined with the 470mm-high AN-K cabinet, this provides an appropriate overall height for many conventional listening chairs.
The exact relationship between the tweeter and seated ear height will still depend on the listening position, floor surface and distance from the loudspeakers.
Available Finishes
Audio Note offers the AN-K stands in Gloss Black, Matte Black, Gloss White and Matte White.
The black versions provide a discreet match with darker Audio Note veneers and equipment racks, while the white options may suit lighter rooms and selected cabinet finishes.
Finish availability should be confirmed when ordering. The standard Audio T option described simply as Black corresponds most closely with Audio Note’s Matte Black finish.
Positioning the Complete AN-K System
The assembled stands should be placed on a dry, stable and level floor capable of carrying the combined weight of the filled stands and loudspeakers.
Audio Note AN-K speakers are designed to benefit from nearby room boundaries, so the recommended starting position is usually close to a solid rear wall or room corners.
Once the cabinets are secured to the stands, their distance from the rear and side walls can be adjusted to balance bass weight, tonal balance and stereo focus.
Both speakers should be positioned as symmetrically as the room allows, with toe-in adjusted gradually using familiar recordings.
