Wharfedale Diamond 11.3 Speakers

Diamond series speakers once again share the same sleek aesthetic thanks to Wharfedale's return to the curved cabinet design after much demand across the globe.

Wharedale Diamond series has a number of enhancements designed to optimise performance in this area of the market;

The bass and midrange drivers in the Diamond Series utilise a basket with a network of ribs that maintain the sturdy build of the basket while leaving a large open area behind the cone. The rigid construction enhances transient impact while the large open area minimises early reflections to the cone and enables the roomy, bespoke internal cabinet absorbent to do its work. The Diamond 11 Series speakers also enjoy huge magnet designs that raise sensitivity and allow absolute control of cone movement over lower bass frequencies.

High-frequency performance has been similarly enhanced with a newly evolved tweeter design. Again, an over-sized ceramic magnet system is used, with a copper cap for flux control. And, here, the pole piece is vented through to a specially shaped rear chamber. This provides a low resonant frequency, ensuring excellent linearity throughout the operating system and allowing the textile dome to contribute to a lucid midrange performance in addition to precise high-frequency detailing.

The drive units at the centre of the loudspeaker system would be nothing without the integration of an accurately derived crossover. Wharfedale’s engineers have created a series of circuit options for combining the bass/midrange and treble units seamlessly by utilising a virtual crossover software system. These circuit options are then judged using stringent listening tests involving different types of music.

Major attention has been lavished upon ensuring the lifelike qualities of vocals and natural instruments are portrayed accurately, as these are always one of the parameters that listeners’ hone in on to appraise a loudspeaker’s performance.
