Sennheiser HD800S Headphones
Ever since the launch of the HD 800 model they have remained a firm favourite among ourselves, music lovers and audiophiles alike. A brilliant treble response, precise bass reproduction and a particularly clear sound stage combined with a frequency response that covers 4 to 51,000 Hz were atributes of the original HD800.
The latest HD800S in simple terms offers a more natural and balanced sound compared to the older HD800. This has been achieved with the inclusion of an acoustical absorber (similar to the one in Sennheiser's flagship IE800 earphones) and this gives an extended and smoother frequency response with fewer "peaks", that results in a more natural sound throughout the frequency range.
Another area of the HD800 performance that was commented on was that the bass performance whilst exceptionaly clean and tight was perhaps at times a little lean in its presentation. This is an area that has been addressed in the latest iteration and these improvements have yielded a headphone that sounds more balanced and cohesive as a whole when compared to its predecessor. Rather than just increase the bass output overall that would have invariably had a detrimental impact on the sound quality, Sennheiser have instead opted to extend the useful output of the phones allowing them to dig deeper at the bass end.
