The Naim FraimLite Base is the required foundation for one FraimLite equipment-rack stack. It combines a shaped veneered support platform, three-point minimal-contact structure and stainless-steel floor spikes in a simpler and lighter design than the reference Fraim Base.
This listing supplies one base component rather than a finished multi-tier rack. It provides the first usable equipment surface, while standard, medium or tall FraimLite levels are purchased separately for each additional component. Every independent rack stack needs its own base.
Unlike full Fraim, FraimLite does not use a double-layer base or ball-supported glass sub-shelves. Equipment rests directly on its veneered composite platform. Audio T currently offers the base in Black, Cherry and Natural Ash.
Naim FraimLite Base
FraimLite applies the main modular and three-point principles of Naim's Fraim system in a simplified format. The base establishes a stable floor interface and provides the support structure required before any additional FraimLite or compatible full Fraim levels can be added.
Its tripod-style geometry uses three floor spikes rather than four broad feet. Three points define a plane without the rocking that can occur when four feet meet an uneven surface, although the chosen location must still be level and structurally suitable for the loaded rack.

The Starting Point for One FraimLite Stack
A FraimLite rack is assembled from one base plus the number and height of additional levels required by the system. The base contains the dedicated floor interface and cannot be replaced by a normal shelf level.
The base platform itself provides one usable 452 x 340mm equipment area. It can therefore support a single suitable component on its own, while larger systems add individual levels above it. A twin-stack layout requires two independent bases.
One Base Is Required Per Stack
Do not bridge ordinary levels between two stacks or attempt to build two vertical towers on one base. Plan every stack separately, including its finish, overall height, loaded weight, cable access and the floor area required around it.
Single-Layer Three-Point Foundation
The FraimLite Base uses one shaped 19mm double-veneered composite platform and a single set of three minimal-contact cone-and-cup interfaces. Custom steel studs, nuts and related hardware tie the assembly together, while three stainless-steel spikes define its contact with the floor.
This is deliberately simpler than full Fraim, whose double-layer base provides an additional isolation stage. FraimLite retains a rigid, modular three-point structure while reducing weight, component count and assembly complexity.
Direct Veneered Equipment Support
FraimLite supports equipment directly on the veneered composite platform. It does not include the 10mm toughened-glass sub-shelf, support balls, sockets or locating pin used by full Fraim levels.
The published equipment area is 452 x 340mm. Check the component's feet as well as its chassis dimensions: all supporting feet must sit securely within the usable shelf area, and the case must not interfere with the rack structure or adjacent equipment.
No Glass Shelf Is Supplied
The absence of glass is an intentional part of the FraimLite design, not a missing accessory. Do not place an ordinary sheet of glass on the base in an attempt to reproduce full Fraim. A genuine full Fraim level contains its own engineered ball-supported glass system and can be specified separately where required.
Three Current Finish Choices
Audio T currently offers the FraimLite Base in Black, Cherry and Natural Ash. These correspond with the current finishes stated by Naim for the FraimLite system.
The shelf uses real wood veneer, so grain and tone naturally vary. Cherry Tint appears within parts of the wider full Fraim range but is not currently shown as an option on this FraimLite Base listing.
Added FraimLite levels have their own platform and upright choices. Match the platform finish and select natural aluminium or black anodised uprights when ordering each separate level.
Compact 79mm Base Height
The FraimLite Base has a published height of 79mm and an overall footprint of 643 x 442mm. At 2.8kg, it is considerably lighter than the double-layer full Fraim Base, while retaining the same overall rack footprint and 452 x 340mm equipment-support area.
Its low profile helps keep the completed rack compact. The final height is calculated by adding the 79mm base to the overall height of every selected level rather than adding only the available equipment clearances.
Choosing Additional FraimLite Levels
FraimLite levels are available in three heights. The upright length on an added level determines the nominal equipment clearance immediately below that new platform:
- Standard: 131mm available height and 150mm overall level height
- Medium: 206mm available height and 225mm overall level height
- Tall: 280mm available height and 299mm overall level height
Measure each component at its highest point and retain room for ventilation, controls, connectors and cables. Standard or medium configurations can use up to six levels above the base; tall-upright configurations are limited to two levels. Mixed-height arrangements should be checked before ordering.
Load Limits and Floor Requirements
Naim states a maximum safe load of 50kg on each Fraim or FraimLite shelf, evenly distributed, and a maximum load of 90kg for one complete assembly. Both limits apply, so adding more levels does not increase the permitted total load of the rack.
Include the base, all levels and every component when confirming that the floor and its supporting structure are suitable. Place heavy electronics low in the stack where practical, subject to ventilation and connection requirements.
The floor spikes are sharp and concentrate the load at three small points. Naim floor-protection chips are available where direct spike contact could damage wood, tile or another finished surface. Ensure any protectors are stable and properly centred beneath the spikes.
Combining FraimLite and Full Fraim Levels
Naim allows reference Fraim levels to be added to a FraimLite system as part of a level-by-level upgrade path. A full Fraim level brings its own ball-supported toughened-glass sub-shelf, while the FraimLite levels and base continue to support equipment directly on their veneered platforms.
Adding one full Fraim level does not convert the base or every other level into full Fraim. The two structures remain visibly and mechanically different. Ask Audio T to specify the parts and assembly sequence for any mixed configuration.
Equipment Order and Cable Planning
Plan the level order around chassis height, heat output, weight and the distance between connected products. Power supplies and power amplifiers may be better separated from sensitive source and pre-amplifier components, sometimes by using two shorter rack stacks.
Check cable lengths and connector dimensions before assembly. DIN plugs, Burndy collars, mains connectors and network leads must reach without being stretched, sharply bent or pressed against the shelf structure. Leave access to rear-panel switches and ventilation openings.
Assembly and Levelling
FraimLite is supplied in component form. Follow Naim's assembly instructions so that each cone, cup, stud, nut and spike is installed in the correct orientation. Work on a clean, protected surface to avoid damaging the veneer or metal components.
Position and level the empty rack before loading it. Do not drag a loaded rack, stand or sit on any part of it, or adjust structural components while equipment remains in place. Audio T can provide specification and assembly assistance for larger systems.
Care and Maintenance
Dust the veneered platform and metal hardware with a clean, soft cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, excessive moisture and furniture products that could mark the veneer or leave a slippery residue beneath equipment feet.
Periodically confirm that the rack remains stable and level, particularly after moving it or changing the system. Inspect floor protectors and ensure that cables have not begun pulling against the supported components.
