Welcome to Audio T Southampton

1969 was a year to remember. Neil Armstrong stepped on to the Moon. Concorde and the Boeing 747 flew for the first time. Stateside an audience of 400,000 gathered for a music festival at Woodstock. Back home Monty Python was first aired and Led Zeppelin's first album was released. As if all this wasn't enough a new hi-fi store named Hampshire Audio opened in Chandlers Ford.

In 1999 Hampshire Audio joined Audio T and half a century after first opening we are still here with the same goal of providing hi-fi systems capable of enhancing the enjoyment of music at home. The only difference now is that we also offer CD, streaming plus multiroom audio and home cinema as well as the de facto hi-fi medium of choice in 1969, the 12” LP. 

John and I haven't notched up the full 50 years individually, but have 50 years experience here between us!  We are happy to play music or movies for you in our demonstration room. Home visits to plan projects, for home dems, or to install and set up systems aren't a problem. We also offer home loans of products, be it interconnects and cables, or speakers and electronics. You can be confident of making the right choice with our assistance.

Meet the team

Alan - joined Audio T in 1986 Favourite album: Blonde on Blonde, Bob Dylan Favourite music: a wide range spanning the alphabet from Adams (Ryan not Bryan!) to Zappa including Dylan, The Band, Van Morrison, Steve Earle, Leonard Cohen, Spirit, Rosanne Cash, John Mellencamp, John Prine, etc, etc... Best gig: difficult to choose but probably Bob Dylan and friends at Wembley Stadium 1984 or The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band reunion 2007 Favourite movies: One flew over the Cuckoo's Nest, Life of Brian, The Ladykillers (the original), The Seven Year Itch, A Shot in the Dark First system: the then obligatory Garrard SP25 MkII (for those old enough to remember!) with Shure M75ED cartridge, Goodmans 4040 amplifier and Wharfedale Linton 2 kit speakers at age 14 because I couldn't put up with my Dad's music centre any longer! Current system: always evolving but currently Linn LP12, Cyrus and Sonos electronics and Focal Electra BE speakers

Wayne - joined Audio T in 2017 Favourite Album: Pink Floyd-Delicate Sound Of Thunder Favourite Music: Mostly Rock, Grunge and Metal from bands like Nirvana, Avenged Sevenfold & Black Sabbath but also enjoy the likes of The Kinks & Chris de Burgh Favourite Movies: The Lost Boys, Terminator Films, Back To The Future Trilogy and Whole Nine Yards Best Gig: Avenged Sevenfold, Download Festival 2014 First System: Yamaha home cinema system & speaker package Current System: Arcam FMJ home cinema system, Monitor Audio speakers, Pioneer plasma, XBOX ONE, Naim CD3.5 cd player, Custom Orange Rega RP1 Turntable with NAD phono pre-amp

Initial contact with Chandlers ford staff at Audio T was a positive one. I asked to loan some speaker isolation mounts on the basis of leaving card details or pay in full. I chose the latter option. Staff were very polite and helpfull. After one week of listening I chose to return and was refunded in full with no problems.

I wernt to Audio T following an enquiry over a HD Blueray player I was trying to sauce and it was my intention at the time to only buy the Blueray player and I was purchasing an AV Receiver as well else where however after speaking to Audio T and being corrected on some other advice i had been given by the other retailer I was so impressed with Audio T service I bought lock stock and barrell from them. They were helpful not only during the lead iup to the sale but sent me away with instructions as to how to set the system up up contrary to how the manufacturer would have done and I have been back since for some of those post sales quiries and I have to say absulutely nothing is to much trouble. Its a shame that my systems last me so long that I can't call myself a repeat customer but rest assured if I need Hi FI it's comming from Audio T

Alan could not have been more patient and helpful in enabling me to reach a decision on whether to replace my Cyrus CD player with the CDT and p/e my Cyrus Stream XA for a Cyrus DAC.
