Unison Research S6 Cherry
In common with many modern amplifiers, the Unison Research S6 is a minimalist design offering five unbalanced line inputs, a set of tape outputs and a single set of loudspeaker connections.
The volume and input selector knobs have a solid feel as does the amplifier itself weighing in at 25kg. The amplifier comes with a handsome wood-clad remote control and produces around 30-35 watts per channel. Six EL 34 output valves are used (three per channel) along with a pair of ECC 82s.
The S6 produces a very rich smooth engaging sound that is immediately likeable. Its presentation is best described as full-bodied and solid yet it also retains good dynamics and detail. Instrument and vocal timbre is most impressive and certainly helps in creating a highly believable performance.
